The Huntsman Winter's War
In Theaters - April 2016

The fantastical world of Snow White and the Huntsman expands to reveal how the fates of The Huntsman Eric and Queen Ravenna are deeply and dangerously intertwined. Chris Hemsworth and Oscar® winner Charlize Theron return to their roles in The Huntsman Winter’s War, an epic action-adventure in which they are joined by Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, as well as director Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. Producer Joe Roth (Maleficent, Alice in Wonderland) once again leads the team in a breathtaking new tale nested in the legendary saga.

Long before the evil Queen Ravenna (Theron) was thought vanquished by Snow White’s blade, she watched silently as her sister, Freya (Blunt), suffered a heartbreaking betrayal and fled their kingdom. With Freya’s ability to freeze any enemy, the young ice queen has spent decades in a remote wintry palace raising a legion of deadly huntsmen—including Eric (Hemsworth) and warrior Sara (Chastain)—only to find that her prized two defied her one demand: Forever harden your hearts to love.

When Freya learns of her sister’s demise, she summons her remaining soldiers to bring the Magic Mirror home to the only sorceress left who can harness its power. But once she discovers Ravenna can be resurrected from its golden depths, the wicked sisters threaten this enchanted land with twice the darkest force it’s ever seen. Now, their amassing army shall prove undefeatable…unless the banished huntsmen who broke their queen’s cardinal rule can fight their way back to one another.

Marvel Studios presents “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

Avengers : Age of Ultron is the newest superhero movie in the Marvel world of movies based on comic books. The film brings back returning favorites Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye and Anthony Mackie as Falcon. To the favorites, this film adds Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver, Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlett Witch and Paul Bettany as The Vision. Oh yes, and Don Cheadle is in the film as War Machine. I think that is everyone. The film is chock-full of superheros. Everyone is bound to find a favorite. How many superheros is that? Did anyone keep count? Eleven. If you’re thinking that’s a lot of Avengers, it is, but in this newest installment, they must all work together to defeat a villain intending to annihilate the human race into extinction. James Spader plays the voice of this film’s baddie, Ultron.

Avengers : Age of Ultron is a lot of fun and visually exciting. If you’ve seen any of the movies in the Marvel cinematic universe, you HAVE to see this. The films each build on each other and there are a lot more of these films slated for the future. To miss this edition would be to miss a key part of the superhero saga. I think that as they go on, the director, Joss Whedon, is amping-up his game to keep the audience interested. This latest edition certainly lives up to the hype. Go see it as soon as you’re done with this review. If you wait, someone who has seen it will surely spoil some of the film’s gems for you. I don’t want to spoil any of the movie, so I am going to keep this brief.

The humor is witty and smart. It’s everywhere. It challenges the audience to really pay attention to the little details. One of the funniest moments is brought on by a glance from one of the Avengers. I appreciated that. If you look away from the screen to take a sip of your movie beverage, everyone else will laugh and you won’t know what happens. So stay alert. Also, be alert for Stan Lee’s cameo. I appreciate when the audience has to work to find him.

The action is so much fun. I love when the Avengers take their defensive-stance in a circle. You know the action that follows is going to amazing when the Avengers stand like that. My kids were regularly throwing fist pumps in the air out of excitement. I saw this film in 3D. It was fun in 3D, but I don’t think that you have to pay the up charge to enjoy the film. So keep that in mind.

This film is unique in that it offers arcs into the minds of many of the Avengers. Think mini movies. I was especially interested in Black Widow’s mini movie because it offers portions of her origin story. Thor’s arc is also great.

The only thing that really bothered me about the film was the opening scene. Something was off in the visual effects. Thor looked like a cartoon for a second. No complaints about anything else. So, go see it. Take the family. The action is mild enough for people of all ages. Thanks to Captain America, the Avengers are even watching their language. I am sure that you won’t be disappointed. But don’t take my word for it, See Avengers : Age of Ultron for yourself in theaters now.

* Don’t forget, when the credits start to roll, stay in your seat or you’ll miss it… What will you miss? Stay in your seat if you want to be in the know.
