Friday Fun with Power Poppy~Forest Fellas-Finnian Fox

Hello, Friends! Happy Friday! I'm here today sharing another card I created featuring the Power Poppy Forest Fellas clear stamp set. Each of the critters from this set is available individually in digital format. If digis are your thing, click HERE

For today's card I chose to spot light, Finnian Fox. Soooo adorable! Again, I used the clear stamp set but here's a gander at the digi set...It's cute, right?! And it includes some really nice sentiments, too. Digi sets are great. They are very versatile and they take up zero space in your crafting area since they live inside your computer. These files are available for immediate download which means you could be coloring Finnian in a matter of minutes after your purchase. If you are new to using digital images, there is a tutorial HERE for you to view. And there are many, many more tutorials on YouTube.

Okay...let's get on to the card for today! I started out by stamping Finnian onto a piece of **Taylored Expressions Sugar Cube card stock, using **Taylored Expressions Oreo ink. Both are Copic friendly so I decided to dust off my very neglected Copic markers to color this guy. Let me just say here, I'm a bit rusty with my Copics. But I had fun coloring and that's really what matters, right? And now, here's Finnian Fox...

For my card design, I used Mojo Monday Sketch 429. I haven't used sketches in while, either. I'll tell ya what though, it was nice not having to think about card design. I just selected my papers and started cutting. Speaking of papers, I used more of the gorgeous patterned papers from my January Club Echo Park kit. I am REALLY lovin' that kit. I keep it right on my craft table and I'm constantly dipping into it.

So, after I finished coloring my image, I die cut it and with the image still in the die, I brushed around the edges with Stormy Sky Distress Oxide ink. I like how that gives a little extra color but keeps a clean white border. I assembled all of the card pieces and I added a tiny bit of sparkle by layering on a few Love From Lizi Peel Offs. Then, I adhered my focal panel, added a sentiment circle and some snowflake stickers and my card was finished.

A few of my Bloom Brigade Design Team Mates have projects to share with you. Please take a moment to visit them and say Hi!

Friday Fun with Power Poppy ~ Forest Fellas

Hello, Friends! It's been a while! I hope you all are safe and well. Today's Friday Fun feature is the Forest Fellas clear stamp set. I adore this set for many reasons but here's something interesting; Each of the critters in this set resembles a member of my household. No joke. I don't know how Marcella did it but, it's really funny!

The Bear and Owl...my son-in-love and my youngest daughter:)

The Fox and the Owl...my daughters:)

 And finally, the Moose...My Hubs:)

This just cracks me up! When I saw the prototype for this set, I immediately identified my family members and what's more, they all agreed with their critter! LoL! Anyway...thank you for indulging me. Now let's get on to the card..

I chose to use Bernard, the lovable bear. Isn't he just the cutest with his hot beverage, scarf and watch?

I stamped Bernard onto a piece of  Strathmore Toned Tan paper and colored him with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils. This guy is a delight to color. He's just so round and jolly. His little overalls can be paper pieced, too, like I did HERE. After coloring, I fussy cut him out and adhered him to my card base. I added a bit of Nuvo Crystal Glaze to his beverage and his watch. And I used the patterned papers, card stock and enamel dots from the January Club Echo Park kit, featuring the Winter Market Collection.

If you'd like to add Bernard to your collection, buzz on over to the Power Poppy shop. He's available in the clear set, Forest Fellas and also in digital format, Forest Fellas:Bernard Bear .

Thank you so much for stopping by today. Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings ~

Power Poppy ~ Forest Fellas

Hello, Friends! Today is the day we reveal and release Part 2 of the Power Poppy Quiet Christmas Collection.

This second act is just as entrancing as the first. We've got traditional, whimsical and things from the outdoors. I can't wait another minute to share with you one of my favorites from this release...This, my friends, is Forest Fellas. I just LOVE these critters and this set is available in both clear and digital formats. Just LOOK at it!

In addition to the set having the most adorable critters ever, it's also very versatile and can be used year round. I like that they aren't really Christmas specific. And the bear. Oh! That bear has captured my heart. He's got a watch on. LoL! He can be used for Father's Day cards, masculine birthday or Valentine's Day cards, or just masculine cards in general. SO cute! He is who I decided to play with first.

I made a Valentine's Day/Love You card with him! Hahaha! Isn't he cute?! I had a lot of fun coloring this guy. I stamped him on Toned Tan paper with VersaFine Clair ink in Fallen Leaves and colored him with Caran D'Ache Luminance and Prismacolor colored pencils. I fussy cut him out and adhered him to my card panel. I know it's difficult to see but, that heart cutout circle is super sparkly because I used glitter foam behind it. If you have any questions about the supplies I've used, please email me and I will be happy to share.

Today is also Day 2 of the re-vamped 30 Day Coloring Challenge, hosted by Kathy Raccosin of The Daily Marker blog. The challenge will run for 11 days this time. Please visit her blog, HERE, to learn more about it and how you can join in and be entered to win prizes! Its a lot of fun! This is her EIGHTEENTH coloring challenge! Wow! Power Poppy ~ Reel Deal

Hello Friends! Happy Friday! I've been busy in The Hive playing with the wonderful new fishing inspired digi sets from Power Poppy. If you haven't already, you'll want to buzz by the Power Poppy blog, because there is A TON of inspiration over there for you.

Today, I am focusing on the Reel Deal digi set and I've created two cards to share with you.

For the first card, I've used the main image and greetings from the set. I always try to create at least one sample showcasing just what's included in the digi set. That way you can see that you have all that you need to make a completed card. Please click on the images to enlarge them.

I printed the image onto smooth white card stock and colored it with Copic markers and colored pencils. I've seen this technique done quite a lot on various blogs and I really liked the results. I need a bit more practice but, I like the control I have over the shading when I use a colored pencil instead of a marker. Sometimes shading with a marker gets away from me. But, with the pencils, I was able to add just a little color at a time and achieve the results I wanted. I haven't used my Copic markers regularly for a while and boy was I rusty! Anyway...

I finished off the inside as well...

I changed the color on the main image, so it would be light enough to write over. Then I added the greeting that was included in the set right over top. And that was it!

For card #2, I created a very simple birthday card...easy to make, easy to mail!

I used the same coloring technique on this one...Copic markers with colored pencil for shading. This one will be super easy to mail because it's flat. I adhered the focal image right onto the patterned paper and there are no embellishments. I did add a bit of sparkle on the fishing line with a Sakura Gelly Roll pen.

And that is all I have for you today. Thank you for stopping by!

The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge - Day Nine

Hello Friends! I've got another quick post for you today. I received a request for an easy to mail masculine birthday card. Soooo....I reached for an old favorite, Lovely as a Tree, from Stampin' Up!  and I did a little watercoloring.

Please click on the image to enlarge it. I used the faux watercoloring technique here. I just inked up the image using a bit of masking and then with a damp brush, I softened the edges. It's a very quick and easy technique and the results are always nice. I added a bit of blue ink for sky and that really made the tree pop. I wanted the perfect birthday greeting and I was so pleased when I came across this one from Papertrey Ink. It fit underneath the image exactly as I had envisioned.

I thank you so much for dropping in today!

His and Hers Birthday Cards

Hello Friends! I hope everyone is having a pleasant week.  I've been enjoying the nice Spring temperature and all the beautiful flowers that are blooming now. Spring is one of my favorite seasons and it seems to be the shortest here in my neck of the woods. Summer is fast approaching and that is the time I hibernate...like a big ol' bear! Anywho...

A while ago, I took an Online Card Class called His & Hers, where we learned how to create a feminine and a masculine card out of the same supplies. I turned to those lessons for today's card share. I am always in need of birthday cards, so I decided to create a His & Hers set of cards, featuring the Blueprint Cupcake by Tim Holtz.

I started out by stamping my image onto Very Vanilla card stock and die cutting with the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Rectangle dies. I knew I wanted to paper piece the cupcake liner and also add dimension with the frosting, candle and flame, so I stamped all of those onto various scraps of patterned paper and card stock. I colored all of the pieces with Prismacolor colored pencils and blended them with Gamsol and a paper stump. Then, I fussy cut everything out, added dimensional adhesive onto the backs and assembled all the bits and pieces.

His:

Hers:

I used a Clear Wink of Stella on the flame and then coated it with Glossy Accents. It really produces a lovely effect...shimmery and shiny. And, I spread a thin layer of liquid glue onto the frosting and sprinkled on a little Crystal glitter to give that a bit of sparkle, as well. Wood veneer stars finished off the His version and I used gold stars from Pretty Pink Posh to finish off the Hers version.

Once I had the focal panels assembled, I worked on the inside panels of the cards.

I added a humorous greeting to His.

And kept Hers short and sweet.

And that is it from me today. As always, thanks for stopping by! Have a wonderful weekend.

Blessings~

You Mocha Me Crazy!

Hello Friends! I made this card a while ago and was debating on whether or not I should share it here, but, I figured what the heck, so here it is. We all have that one friend, who drives us batty, right? You love them, but they still make you crazy! This card is for one of my friends who falls into that category.

To create my card, I used products included in the October 2014 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. You can see those items by clicking HERE.

And here is my whimsical card...

Pretty goofy, huh? The friend I sent it to is sure to get a kick out of it. I used some whacky patterned paper to perpetuate the crazy on this card. I adhered that to a white card base and then built up my layers. For the focal panel, I die cut a piece of white card stock with the Simon Says Stamp Postage Stamp Edge Frames die. Then I stamped the coffee mug and colored the "coffee" with Copic markers and added Glossy Accents. I also stamped the mug onto a piece of coordinating patterned paper and fussy cut that out. I stamped on the mouth and colored the tongue with a Copic marker. After I paper pieced the mug, I added the goggly eyes. I stamped the greeting onto patterned paper with brown ink and cut that out. Next, I adhered the focal to the black matting that I die cut with the postage edge dies and mounted that onto the card base with dimensional adhesive. I added the speech bubble and some yummy sequins to finish the card.

I decorated the inside, as well...

I paper pieced this mug too. The coffee is also colored with Copic markers and covered in Glossy Accents. After adhering everything down, I stamped the sentiment with brown ink and added the 'steam' with khaki ink. I used another piece of that whacky patterned paper to tie everything together.

And that is my card share for today. I hope your week has been a good one, so far. Thank you so much for stopping by!

Blessings~

Be Mine, Valentine

Hello Friends! I finally had some time to get into the February 2015 Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. And let me just say that it is a BEAUTY! It's geared towards love and Valentine's Day, but I can also see Wedding and Anniversary cards coming from these items, as well.

Take a look!

The patterned papers are just gorgeous. Also included in this month's kit is a Gold Gelato, a container of SSS Clear Embossing Powder, a paint brush and some rub-ons from the Kiss Kiss collection by Crate Paper. The stamp set is great, too, loaded with lots of sentiments that can be used anytime.

I really wanted to create a black and white Valentine, so that's what I did.

I used the Kiss Kiss rub-ons to create the focal panel for my card. I just trimmed out what I wanted and burnished them onto a piece of white card stock. Then, using a border punch, I punched the black mat and trimmed it to size. I adhered the pieces together and then I added a smattering of Pretty Pink Posh sequins to finish it off.

For the inside of the card, I used more rub-ons...

A simple black mat ties it all together. Easy, peasy!  I really like the clean, crisp look of the black and white.

That's all I have to share with you today. Thank you for stopping by!

Blessings~

Happy Autumn Shaker Card

Hello Friends! My card share today was inspired by Kristina Werner and Shari Carroll. Both of them recently created cards with tags and Shari's was a shaker card. And that is what I decided to make.

Take a look...The picture is a little blown out, because I've inked the tag and it's not as stark as it's coming across on screen.

I started off by stamping my background on the card base. For this I used a combination of Versamark and Soft Suede inks. Then I inked the edges with Gathered Twigs Distress ink. Next, I worked on the tag. I pulled out my Coluzzle-remember that tool?-and cut the tag shape. Then I die cut the leaf shape. I added Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint Distress inks to the leaf and set it aside to dry. Using my Crop-a-dile, I punched a hole in the top of the tag and added the die cut reinforcement. Then, I stamped my greeting and dusted ink around the edges of the tag. I added a strip of patterned paper to the bottom of the tag for a little interest. It was looking really plain and I thought the pop of color was a good choice. And it was from the patterned paper, that I pulled my sequin colors. But, before I could add the sequins, I had to do a little side task...

The foam squares could be seen from the front of the card. That's a no, no! So, I used a brown marker to color the exposed white tape and that made it disappear. I was a happy camper! Now, it was time to add the sequins. I love making shaker cards, they are so much fun! I loaded this one up with lots of colorful sequins from Pretty Pink Posh. After the sequins were secured. I adhered the die cut leaf to the back, so it would show thru the die cut leaf window.

And finally, I adhered the tag onto the card base with Pop Dots. I tied on a Linen Thread bow and added more sequins to the tag. I honestly was not planning on doing this, as this card is being given to a man, but, I was not tidy in cleaning up my Distress ink on my craft sheet and I got random ink spots on the tag. Ugh! And rather than pitching the whole thing and starting over, I decided to embellish!

Next, I moved on to the inside of the card...

I used more of the patterned paper and random stamped some leaves, too. And although, the camera doesn't show it, the edges of the vanilla card stock have been inked.

And that was the card for today! I hope you liked it and maybe got inspired to try a shaker card.

Have a great weekend!

Blessings~

Summer Dreams

Hello Friends! Happy August! I love seeing that month, because that tells me that Autumn is on the way. If you've been following my blog, you'll know that I am not a fan of Summer..just too hot for me. Sooo...this month's Simon Says Stamp kit, Summer Dreams is perfect for chasing away my Summertime blues. It features a stamp set that is loaded with frosty treats and cool sentiments. Just take a look!

I love the bright colors and the fun patterned papers. And that stamp set, designed by Kristina Werner, is sooo darling. She even included little smiling faces that can be added to the treats. So cute!

The card I'm sharing today was inspired by this card HERE. I just love the patterned paper and the way the watercolored ice cream looked. I knew I wanted to create a version of my own...

First, I die cut a tag from watercolor paper, which was included in the kit, using the Lawn Fawn Tag You're It die. Then, I stamped the image with Versamark ink and I embossed it with gold embossing powder. Next, using the two Distress markers that came with the kit, I watercolored the image. I used a Wild Honey Distress marker for the stick. To finish my tag, I stamped the greeting using Audrey Blue ink and tied on some Baker's Twine. I adhered the tag onto the patterned paper with dimensional adhesive and added a few Pretty Pink Posh 4mm Sparkling Clear sequins to finish off the card.

*I am entering my card into a few challenges*

That's all I have to share today. I hope you have an amazing weekend! Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings~
