Power Poppy ~ Newly Remixed Holiday Digital Blitz!

Hello, Friends! Wow...say that title three times fast.😜 As my blog title states, Power Poppy is having a Holiday Digital Blitz and there are A LOT of digital stamp sets being released today! And I had something cute planned to share with you, but things didn't work out the way I planned them.

I was not going to share this at all. I was just going to tell Marcella that I wouldn't have a card ready and be done with it. But for some reason, I felt that it was important that you all know that sometimes I struggle with my card making, too. I have mishaps and failed designs and sometimes I color an image several times before I select one to use for my card. True, I waited until the last minute to pull my card together but this was a busy weekend, my husband wanted to do some shopping, we went out for lunch. And all the while, I knew that my image was colored, I had a card design in mind and all I had to do was build the card, embellish my image, etc. Easy peasy. But...

As I was preparing to work on my card, I couldn't find the power cord for my Scan N Cut. Then I couldn't find the instruction manual. I finally found both of those items and I prepared my image for cutting. Let me just say here, that I usually cut first then color but I didn't do that this time. You probably already know where this is going, don't you? I began cutting the image, turned my back for a second and when I went to look at the cutting job, I realized that the card stock had shifted and well...

That blade sliced right through my image!😲 I flopped down in my chair and had a good cry. There was nothing I could do to salvage it. My daughter suggested keeping it flat and creating a background for it but I just couldn't do it. I had planned to make a shaker card, with snowflakes, glitter and sparkles. Although it was getting late, I decided to start over. So, I cut and colored another snowman. And this time, I cut FIRST! 😃

I began to gather all of my materials to make my shaker card. I went to my adhesives drawer and guess what? I didn't have any foam tape! Sheesh! That's  when I decided to get a cup of tea and sit down and type out my experience. We've all had "one of those days". *sigh* I will put this little guy from Snow Kissed onto a card very soon.

So now it's time for you to buzz on over to the Power Poppy blog to see what my team mates have been up to. Thank you so much for stopping by! I truly appreciate all of you. And speaking of appreciation, don't forget about my GIVEAWAY for a  $20 Power Poppy gift card/code. Read more about that HERE. Scroll down to the bottom of the post for all the details.

Power Poppy Hues to Use and Day 29 of The Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge

Hello, Friends! Happy Monday to ya! Not only are we just about half way thru the month of February, we are also at the end of another coloring challenge. Can you believe it?! I did something a little differently this time. I decided to post my coloring only on Instagram. I didn't post everyday, but I posted a lot more than I've shown here on my blog. And, I only posted Power Poppy images. I'm really wanting to hone my colored pencil skills and I think Power Poppy images are perfect for that.

Anywho...I want to tell you about a fun challenge that goes on over at Power Poppy. It's called Hues to Use. Do you know about it? Well, it's a color challenge and if you play along, you and your artwork will be featured on the Power Poppy blog. It's all for fun and sharing our creations. So, I decided to play along with the February Hues to Use. This is the color palette...

Pretty, isn't it? And perfect for this month of Love and Valentine's.

Here is how I used these hues...

I used the Follow Your Heart digi stamp. I printed the image onto smooth white card stock, I colored it with Faber-Castell Polychromos colored pencils, die cut it with my Brother ScanNCut and THEN...I foiled it with pink foil! Talk about sugary sweet!

Creating this card was fun and easy. Especially since the color palette was already determined. That is the beauty of this challenge. You take a group of colors and you make something with it. Whatever you want! And, another cool thing is, if you're ever stumped for a color combo, you can always refer back to the Hues to Use archives on the Power Poppy blog. They are all right there, just for YOU.

One more look at it...

That's it for me today. I'm working on a doozie of an image that I will share with you on Thursday. Until then, go forth and be crafty!

Thanks for stopping by!

Power Poppy ~ Ruffled Wild Orchids

Hello Friends! Can you believe that it's the 25th of January already?! Well, you know what that means...it's time for a new Power Poppy digi and I have got a doozie for you! It's called Ruffled Wild Orchids and it's simply lovely.

Let's take a look at what I did with it.

I printed the image onto a piece of card stock and then cut it with my Brother ScanNCut2. I like to cut before I color because there is NOTHING worse than putting in time and effort to color an image and then watch it get sliced through by the electronic die cutting machine. ASK ME HOW I KNOW?! The image is colored with a combination of colored pencils; I used Polychromos, Prismacolors and pencils from Blick Studios.

The image is mounted onto my card base with foam tape. I added a greeting from another Power Poppy digi set called Everything's Rosy. I sprinkled on a few sequins to add a little sparkle.

And that is that. Please visit the Power Poppy blog to see the link list for my teammies. Thank you for visiting me today.

Power Poppy ~ Stand Here.

Hello Friends! It's FINALLY December! Can you feel the excitement in the air? Are YOU excited? Do you have the "Christmas Spirit" yet? LoL! I stay in the Christmas spirit, it's just amplified this time of year. Anywhooo...It's the 5th of the month (already!) and that means that Marcella has a new digi stamp for us.

Introducing...Stand Here. This is a really cute set featuring a bouquet of mistletoe. Just the perfect thing to get some Christmas kisses! That ribbon is everything! And I love having the open letter font...makes for some great color blending.

And here's what I did with this set...Please click on the images to enlarge them.

I printed the image onto smooth white card stock and die cut it with my Brother ScanNCut2. Then, I colored it with Polychromos colored pencils and Copic markers. I added Spectrum Clear Sparkle on the ribbon and the berries. Then, I put a dab of Crystal Effects on the berries to give them shine and a bit of dimension. I adhered the mistletoe to my card base with foam tape.

And I finished the inside, as well.

I lightened the main image, re-colored the sentiment and added it right over the top of the mistletoe. I added a strip of the same patterned paper from the front of the card and matted it with the same red paper, too. I opted for not coloring in the letters here since I printed them with red ink. Fun, fun set to work with.

That's it for me today. Please make sure you visit the Power Poppy blog to see what my team mates have to share with you.

Thanks for dropping in! Merry Christmas!

Blessings~
