MUSIC LAND (1935)

The royal figure on the left sleeps so soundly, the throne remains hidden throughout the opening scene. But I was able to re-assemble the rest of this wonderful pan background. Note the organ pipe details; the stencils on the "pipes" match ornamentation done on real organ pipes from the late 1800s.

I am introducing a new "companion" blog to this one. It's part online game show, and all about animation expertise and trivia.

It's gonna be FUN!

A SYMPOSIUM ON POPULAR SONGS (1962)

The character of Ludwig Von Drake hosted many informative and entertaining episodes of Walt Disney's "Wonderful World Of Color."

The backgrounds for "A SYMPOSIUM ON POPULAR SONGS" combine style elements into a look I call "Victorian modern!" This rich tapestry of textures is a colortful and fun stage for the Professor's antics. (And the 1960s vintage bears an obvious connection stylistically to 101 Dalmations.)

Here is the opening title, along with the first three re-created pan backgrounds, rich with imaginative detail.

Layout and backgrounds are credited to Dale Barnhart.

HOOKED BEAR part two

HOME and RECOVERING

Great news! I am home and recovering. It's just been 24 hours.

I hate needles, and the IV insertion was absolutely painless! Great anesthesiologist.

I was expecting to feel myself drift off to sleep. One minute I was awake, and the next thing I knew the surgery was over!

The surgery went flawlessly. I came out of the operation completely pain free, totally comfortable and no nausea whatsoever.

I'm feeling a little mild discomfort today, (muscle soreness from the procedure), but I slept like a baby last night (thanks to my first prescription of Ambien).

My recovery plan dictates complete bed rest again today, then a post-op checkup on Wednesday.

I anticipate no problems.

Thanks for your notes of support and encouragement.

That's the update!
