DIY Cork Coasters

Cork Coasters are so easy and fun to make!

For this project you will need:
CD's, a roll of cork, spray adhesive, pictures from your laser printer, woodworker's transfer tool, scissor or a razor blade.

I first used spray adhesive on the cork and the CD's. I sprayed them outside as the spray adhesive has an odor. Wait a few minutes before putting them together.

Cut around the cork close to your CD’s.

Print out your pictures with your laser printer.
*(Mirror image your picture if it has letters or numbers on it)

Plug in your woodworker's transfer tool and transfer your picture onto the cork.
HOW TO:
Rub the woodworker's transfer tools round tip back and forth all over the paper. You can peel up the paper to see how it's transferring the image. If you want the image darker put the paper back down without moving it. Go back over the paper once again with the woodworker's transfer tool.

You can find the woodworker's transfer tool on my sidebar.

Cork image transfers are very quick and easy to do using your woodworker's transfer tool.

I've tried all kinds of designs on the cork coasters.

Each design transferred with ease.

So far I've used my woodworker's transfer tool on fabric, wood, terra cotta pots and cork.

Making pretty coasters with your woodworker's transfer tool is so much fun!

I've been making many coasters for my family and friends.

You can use your coasters indoors or outdoors for entertaining.

I’m off to make some for Christmas!

Happy Crafting!

DIY Terra Cotta Pot

I'm sorry I've been missing my sweet blogging friends. I missed you all so much! I had taking ill and it took awhile to find out what was causing me to feel so bad. I will post about it soon. I'm now recovering and will be doing things at a slowing pace for awhile. Thanks for all the wonderful and caring notes while I was gone :)
- Terra Cotta Pots -
For this project you will need a laser printer, printer paper, terra cotta pot and a woodworker's transfer tool.
You can find the woodworker’s transfer tool on

my sidebar.
That's all you need to get started. Print out your design using your laser printer.
Cut your picture down to size to fit your terra cotta pot. Now heat up your woodworker’s transfer tool.
(Be careful as the woodworker's transfer tool heats up pretty fast.)

I used a pot holder to keep the terra cotta pot from rolling while I transferred the image. Place the picture facing down on your terra cotta pot and start rubbing the round tip of your woodworker's transfer tool on the paper.
*The heat from the woodworker's transfer tool melts the toner off the paper.
The inside of the terra cotta pot can get quite warm while you’re working with the woodworker's transfer tool. Be careful not to touch in there while you’re transferring your image. When you're finished transferring your image some of the paper will stick to the terra cotta pot. It's no problem at all. Just let your terra cotta pot cool down for a few minutes.

Now take your terra cotta pot to the sink and run warm water on the image you just created.
Rub off the remaining paper under the warm water. Your project is now complete.
..............................It does not take long for the terra cotta pot to dry..............................

After the terra cotta pot dried I decided to add a bit of ribbon to the top of the pot. I used Elmer's glue but any type of glue will be fine.

(This is the French postcard I used)

Here is the mirror image for the transfer.

Here is another terra cotta pot I did. I printed out a colored picture from my laser printer just like the 'French Bird Postcard' I did above.

This terra cotta pot I printed the image in black and white.

What are you still doing here? Go make some of your own decorated terra cotta pots :)

*Don't forget you can buy the woodworker's transfer tool on my sidebar.

How to Decorate Flower Pots

Do you love to buy decorated flower pots? Some of them can be quite expensive. You can now customize your own. There is no limit to your design. If you can print it, you can make it! *Imagination is all you need to create one of a kind flower pots within minutes.
(There are no messy glues or paints needed.)

For this project I used my laser printer, printer paper, terra cotta pots and a woodworker’s transfer tool.
You can find the woodworker’s transfer tool on my sidebar.
That’s all you need to get started. Print out your design using your laser printer. Cut your picture down to size to fit your terra cotta pot. Now heat up your woodworker's transfer tool. (Be careful as it heats up pretty fast.)
I used a pot holder to keep the terra cotta pot from rolling while I transferred the image. Place the picture facing down on your terra cotta pot and start rubbing the round tip of your woodworker's transfer tool on the paper.
It's That Easy!!!

Here you can see the image is starting to appear on the pot. I just rubbed the woodworker's transfer tool back and forth on the paper. *The heat from the woodworker's transfer tool melts the toner off the paper.  Pretty cool huh! The terra cotta pots inside can get quite warm while you’re working with the woodworker's transfer tool. Be careful not to touch in there while you’re transferring your image.

Here is a great close-up. You can see all the details of the picture I'm transferring onto the terra cotta pot.

Sometimes some of the paper sticks to the terra cotta pot.

When you’re finished with transferring your image let the terra cotta pot sit for a few minutes.

Now just run the terra cotta pot under warm water and rub of the remaining paper.

You can print in color or black and white. The terra cotta pots work well with either as you can see.

This terra cotta pot I added some twine. I just wrapped the twine around twice and tied a knot. Then I added a white candle.

Here I added a mini rose bush!

These make wonderful gifts and they sell like hotcakes!!!

I hope I've inspired you to make your own terra cotta pots!

Candle Decals Water Slides

Decorate your candles quick and easy with
 homemade water transfer decals
from your laser printer.

All you need for this project is:
candles, clear packing tape, laser printer picture
 and a bowl of water.

Fleur-de-lis is a popular symbol and work so well in home decor.  Here are the ones that I just made.

It works well in black and white or color and size doesn't matter. You can make small transfers or large ones, they all look great.

It looks really nice with the flame lit and the light coming through the wax.

For this project you can use any clear packing tape. Just make sure to apply the tape to all the areas that you want to transfer.
Apply the tape to the front of your picture.

I like to cut around the tape close to the image. This will make your transfer look more professional. You should do this before you place the taped picture in the water.

It takes only a few minutes for the paper to get soft. Now rub off the paper. I like to do it while it's still in the bowl of water.

While still wet place your homemade waterslide decal on your candle. Dry with a soft clean cloth. That's all there is too it.

Depending on how much you handle the back of the decal it might loss some of its sticking power. I had that happen to this candle decal water slide. It was an easy fix! I just used a little bit of Elmer's clear glue. It worked like a charm.

You can use the decals right on the candles or you can place them on your glass votives. It's all up to you!

*Of course don't leave your candles unintended. Be sure to put the decals lower from the open flame of your lit candles or use a battery operated flameless candle.

Here are some of the fleur de lis that I used.

Have Fun Crafting!

Dee
