Welcome back bloggers! Today I have another Use you Scraps layouts to share. I actually forgot to photograph the process (I was having so much fun with my scraps!) but It's very simple so I'll give you a quick description of what I did.
First of all, here's the layout.
Pretty much I went through my green and brown drawers and pulled all the papers I thought would look good layered together. I did pull more than I used but I just put those back when I was done. I then arranged them on a cardstock (I chose a light cream/yellow one for this layout) and played with designs/colors and sizes until I was happy with it. Honestly, this step took no more than 10 minutes!
I then distressed all the layers with my Distrezz-it-All tool, inked the edges and adhered them unto the cardstock. I finished the background before I knew which pictures I would use for it. The photo design is actually based on Allison's sketch for Sketch Support (website was taken down but I found the sketch on Pinterest)
I then filled in with some flowers/greenery and butterfly embellies and tucked in a journaling tag behind the top right photo and called it a day!
here are some close ups of the layout:
For my title, I printed THIS file, cut out my chosen letters to spell my title and matted them with brown cardstock (also from the scrap pile!). I then pop dotted them and added some pearls to make it stand out.
I just love all the layers and textures the small pieces of pattern papers creates!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my scraps layout! I hope it inspires you to make something pretty from your scraps! :)

monday...77th bday layout (Tim Holtz)
Hi everyone! I hope that you are having a great day so far! I have a quick layout to share with you today but come back tomorrow and I'll show you how I made it, step-by-step, and using only scraps!
Here's my layout:
The pictures are of my grandpa's 77th birthday party, back in 2010. For the background I used 3"x3" squares from the scraps drawer but I'll tell you more on this tomorrow.
I made the flowers using Tim Holtz Tattered Florals. I haven't used these in a while and completely fell in love with them, all over again!
I love the fact that you can cut pretty much anything with them! I cut cardboard and denim fabric with them to make these flowers. I used Prima wooden buttons as flower centers.
I added the date (Prima alphas) on a TH bookplates and added some more tiny TH denim flowers.
Here's a smaller cluster that I created on the other side of the pictures. I used some more sweet corrugated cardboard flowers, distressed with TH Vintage Photo, of course! I made the little chipboard piece from scratch. I die cut the piece using Sizzix Decorative Flourishes Set to die cut the flourish out of thin chipboard. I then distressed it with TH Vintage Photo and added crackle paint to it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Come back tomorrow and I'll show you a step by step on how I made the background using only scraps and how I made those flowers-you don't want to miss it! :)

wednesday...Birthday Card Set Tutorial for ScrapThat!
Hello again!
I want to share with you a quick tutorial on how to make cards using your scraps after you are done working with your kit. I absolutely loved working with the March kit but I always end up with a pile of scraps that are too small to keep using on layouts. That's when making cards come in handy, plus everyone can use an extra card or two in their stash! Right before I put my kit content away, I always make a few cards (I don't always I post them online though) because, let's face it, after you put things away you don't want to take them out again!
Supplies:
Step 1. Gather your scraps from the kit. As you see, I didn't have many 'scraps"! :)
Step 2. Make card bases with any leftover cardstock. I like to work with 5.5"x4.25" card bases.
Step 3. Trim your pattern paper to the same size and run them through the Distrezz-it-all tool.
Step 4. Fold and crinkle the corners to give them an aged feel.
Step 5. Machine stitch (or hand stitch if you prefer) each pattern paper layer alone and then adhere unto the card base.
Step 6. If you have a doily die, die cut two from leftover cardstock. If you don't, then use store purchased 5" doilies.
Step 7. Fuzzy cut the birthday sentiments and adhere them unto the doily.
Step 8. Apply Aleene's Tack -It Over & Over adhesive all around the faux stitching on the sentiment circle and let it dry.
Step 9. After the adhesive dries, it will be temporary and will feel tacky to the touch. Add the cording included in this month's kit all around it.
Step 10. Add the doily and sentiment to the card base as shown. Now, you can add embellies to your cards!
Here are my finished birthday card set. Aren't those roses the sweetest?
Here are some close ups:
I hope that you give these cards a try!
Thanks for stopping! I hope that you are inspired to make something with this amazing kit!

monday...Chevron paper tutorial
Hi!!!! Today I'll be sharing with you how I made my own chevron pattern paper from scraps that I had from previous layouts.
Supplies:
- square punch
- scraps of pattern paper
- 8.5"x11" sheet of cardstock
- adhesive
- sewing machine (optional)
Step 1. Punch a bunch of squares, any size is good. The larger the square, teh larger your chevron pattern will be.
Step 2. Cut the squares diagonally and distress the long side of the triangle.
Step 3. Start piecing your chevron pattern unto the 8.5"x11" cardstock. Make sure the long side faces the outside and two of the shorter sides touch each other like so.
Step 4. Your finished paper should look like this.
Optional. Machine stitch around the edge of each chevron to give it a personal touch or you can also add faux stitching if you wish.
Here's a close up of the finished pattern paper.
You can now use your handmade paper for a layout. Here's what I did with mine:
I inked the edges and added my chevron paper over Prima Almanac's paper, which I distressed. I used three pictures and added a cluster to one of my corners. The chevron paper is unique and adds a lot to the layout!
Here are some close ups:
Hope you can find the time to try this tutorial and make your own paper.

thursday...use your scraps layout (and a challenge)
Welcome back! Today I have another use your scraps layouts! I've been really enjoying making these layouts because my scrap drawers are running out of space and making card s with those scraps wasn't doing much to the drawers as they were still overflowing!
For this layout I decided to work with hexagons since they seem to be a hot trend in the scrapbooking world right now. I had a problem though because I do not have a hexagon punch or die so I went on Google to see how I could make them without purchasing an expensive tools and found THIS amazing tutorial.
Supplies-
cardstock: DCWV;
patterned paper: Bella Blvd Finally Fall At the Patch, Bella Blvd Christmas Wishes Trees for Sale, Echo Park Victoria Gardens Solids Pink Blossom;
letter stickers: Basic Grey Hello Luscious Mini Mono Stickers;
ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Vintage Photo, Walnut Stain);
pens: Sharpie, Ranger Inkssentials Opaque White;
stamp: Prima Notary Stamp;
tools: Spellbinders Foliage dies, Cuttlebug Leaves die;
other: Sewing machine, flowers from Michaels flower dept
I followed the tutorial idea anyway because I didn't feel like gluing down the pattern papers together plus besides, I had PLENTY of good enough sizes to make each hexagon from a different paper.
I printed my hexagons on white printer paper and adhered 3-6 of then unto different pattern papers. I then hand cut each one of them. It actually wasn't so bad because it was just straight lines. I then lightly distressed the edges with Vintage Photo and added faux stitching around the edges. I added them unto a white, lightly stamped with a script background stamp cardstock because I wanted them to pop.
I used up some silk flowers that I've had forever in my stash. I got them at Michaels' flower dept. a few years back and I still have a few left! I do like them and I thought they went perfectly with this fall layout.
Finally, I made a few fall trees and added them as embellies too. I found something similar on Pinterest some time back and thought I could easily duplicate/make them better by adding stitched lines.
Thanks for stopping by and checking out my use your scraps layout! If you make a layout using your stash, share with me here on my blog and enter to win some goodies over at AWDML's blog. You have until the end of the month to enter.

thursday...Using Those Scraps (step-by-step layout)
Welcome back bloggers! Lately I've been trying to organize and use up my scraps that have accumulated throughout the years. Right now I organize my scraps in 12"x12"x2" drawers by color (1 drawer for each group: Brown/Orange/Yellow, Red/Pink/Purple, Black/White/Cream, Blues and Greens get their own drawer because I have a lot of these scraps) and they work perfectly for me. However, I've been scrapping since 2003 and have accumulated way too much scraps but I can't seem to be able to toss them out either. That's when I started designing a few layouts that use mostly scraps (except for the background cardstock). This is one of them and I did a step-by-step of my creative process in case someone else was in the same boat as me regarding scraps so let's get started :)
Step 1. Gather your scraps. I chose my Brown/Orange/Yellows drawer because right now is my biggest one :)
Step 2. Punch out one border and trim your strips to 6" long by anywhere between 0.5"-1.5" tall. This will give them different thickness and add interest to your layout.
Step 3. I used a white cardstock for the base. I lightly and randomly stamped with a background script stamp around the edges (you can see a bit in the top right of this picture). Start adhering strips from the bottom up.
Step 4. You will end up with something like this when you are done. Don't mind the fact that the left side if not perfect, you will cover this with your pictures.
Step 5. Die cut matching border. I always make a template of all the die cut pattern papers that I purchase to make my own. This one I believe is from Basic Grey's Origin Collection.
Step 6. Go over the edges with a Copic Marker to finish the edges. You might need to do this a few times to get a good coverage. I then used Glossy Accents over it to give it a finished glossy look. You can check out the close ups for this layout HERE.
Step 7. Using a lighter color scraps, cut down a strip measuring 12"x1" and distress one of the edges. I used the Tim Holtz Distresser Tool but you can use the side of a pair of scissors. Adhere as shown leaving space for a row of four 4"x3" pictures.
Step 8. Gather your pictures. You can use 2 vertical 4"x6" pictures or use four 4"x3" pictures. I printed mine Black & White because the pictures were too busy.
Step 9. Adhere your pictures between your vertical 1" strips and now you are ready to embellish your layout.
Step 10. Add embellies to the top left and bottom right side of the pictures. I handmade neutral flowers out of scraps and added some leaves too. I don't have a tutorial for these flowers but if you are interested I can work on one. I also added a title to the top left side of the pictures and journaling to the bottom left side of the pictures.
I hope that you enjoyed this step-by-step tutorial. Let me know what do you think about it and if you use this tip, drop me a link here so I can check out your layout! have a wonderful rest of the week!
