LIM: Metallic

The Less is More challenge this week has been just that!!  A challenge!  It’s a colour challenge and the chosen colour is Metallic!! Hmmm….you might deduce from my late entry that I struggle with metallic stuff.  And it’s taken a lot of thinking and a craft night with girl friends to come up with this  card!

Elegant Wallpaper

Hmmm…..metallic is clearly not my thing! But I do like the look of the baubles.  I’ve punched mirri board with the Ornament Punch and embossed using Vintage Wallpaper, both from Stampin’ Up.  I then used Stazon black and brown ink to “age” the baubles and give it a more realistic metal look.  I’ve layered a white card blank with black card, inked with silver and 3d’d the baubles to the front.  I’ve embossed the greeting in silver embossing powder and it would have looked even better if it was straight….don’tcha think?

I’m also entering this in the following challenges:

Flutterby Wednesday–Just Believe…

So continuing the theme of “Just Believe” I’m still working on my sample set using this lovely stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  So here’s my latest creation that I’m entering in Flutterby Wednesday’s Challenge to create a CAS card….right up my street Smile.

Just Believe Stampin' Up

Alas, it is yet another gloomy photo that I will swap out in the morning.

It’s a cute twisted easel card in Concord Crush and Crumb Cake.  I’ve stamped the foliage in Old Olive and the sentiment and Boho Blossoms are in Concord Crush…one of the In Color colours.  I’ve used the Vintage Wallpaper embossing folder too.  Hmmm….hope it’s still CAS!

The butterflies are from Butterfly Prints stamp set….just to finish it off!
So I hope you like it….let me know what you think Smile.

Open House Show Case….

Well!  I can’t believe I haven’t showcased the cards we made on Saturday, yet!!  Of course, some of them will have to remain secret until next year  and at the bride’s prerogative, but let’s start with revealing the tease from Friday….

This is a 15cm square card made with my new favourite colour, Concord Crush.  It tones perfectly with the Crumb Cake card blank and how about this for a tip….I’ve inked whisper white ribbon to get a perfect match.  I’m entering this in the Make it Monday Challenge where Anything Goes

I’ve stamped the gorgeous image, Wedding Wheels, on to Whisper White card stock and inked the edges to give it a vintage feel.

And finally the beautiful embossed background!  Vintage Wallpaper…available from the Mini Catalogue (check out the link in my sidebar).

Now the embossing folders are the approximately A6 in size, but you can easily emboss bigger sizes.  I’ve achieved this by cutting a square of approximately 14cm.  I’ve embossed one side of the card by running it through the BigShot.  I’ve then lined the embossed card up with the pattern in the embossing folder, and run it through the big shot again, this time hanging the already embossed card over the edge of the cutting mat to avoid getting a line.  It works perfectly!

And because I love this image (available in the Mini – but only til September) so much, I made another card with it!  This time in Baja Breeze, using Elegance Designer papers as the backing and trimming the image with Boho Blossoms and ribbon.

And here’s Louisa’s take on the cards.  Louisa bought some of her own stash, but her mum was so impressed with these she took one for herself!  High praise  indeed!!

Latest LIM challenge…

Well it’s an interesting colour challenge on the Less is More challenge this week.
WHITE ON WHITE
One might say it’s a non-colour challenge!  So…what to rely on…?  Easy!  A chance to use my new embossing folder ‘Vintage Wallpaper’.  And white on white just screams Weddings, of course.  And I lurve weddings!!  So after spending the day playing with wedding invitations, wedding acceptance and wedding congratulation cards at my Open House (I’ll be sharing those over the next couple of days, but thanks girls!  I’ve had a great day), one more won’t hurt!  And here it is:IMG_9517
Quite simply, I’ve trimmed a square of embossed Whisper White with Whisper White ribbon and layered this on to a card blank, leaving the bottom third for my sentiment, from Wedding Sweet from Stampin’ Up!
I’ve added a bit of bling because it is for a wedding, afterall.
Hope you like it Smile.
Thanks for looking and for all your comments over the week.  I love hearing what you think.
