Introducing Anna Dabrowska

Wow, so I'm just so excited about this event that I don't really know where to start. For those of you who know Anna's work, you'll know why I'm so excited. Anna comes to us from Poland via Prima - if you haven't seen her stuff you've got to check out her modern edged style on her blog; be forewarned though - the pictures are amazing but it's written in some indecipherable language employing far too many j's and z's and funny grammatical symbols that no one remembers the name of - it could be Polish, but who knows, really? I refuse to commit.

Anyway, Anna has designed an amazing book and she'll be here in July to share her techniques with us. The class is designed in two segments. On Saturday, July 14th from 6pm to 8pm we will create the cover of the book:

Then on Sunday July 15th from 1pm-3pm we will work on the interior pages:

You can see all the inky goodness in these classes - we fully expect them to sell out quick so be sure to call and reserve your space!

This weeks Tim Holtz Inspired Tag

I love to travel and have been quite fortunate to do a lot of it.
I was born in England and went to France as a young girl quite frequently.

So this tag was of course,
Inspired by the Eiffel Tower

I used a lot of Tim Holtz, the master of distress, products as well as some old french dictionary paper, ten seconds studio metal and an old atlas (thanks Joyce)

These weekly tags inspired by Tim Holtz are like having a mini class at a time that's convenient for you; you will learn some new and exciting techniques that you can then use in your card making, scrapbooking or altered art.

The tag will be available to be created by you Wednesday January 11th through Tuesday January 17th when we will reveal the next one.

and remember we are now open till 8:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays.

You do not have to bring anything with you.
We will be providing all materials, tools, adhesives, etc.

So come on in and make something crafty and fun.

Hope we see you soon

You have to see this

Unbelievable!

one of our customers Jeannie Z. gave us Christmas Stockings today that she had made using Graphic 45 papers.

They are amazing and when I say amazing I mean unbelievably AMAZING

Each stocking has our name on it, is stitched and personalized just for us.

Here is a photo of the stockings

and here are some closeups.

Look at the "hair" she put on the rocking horse and the bear. The little girl has lace under her dress, glossy accents on top and then netting as an over skirt.

Jewels, lots of hand cutting, layers and layers.

Memory Box diecuts, Tim Holtz dies.
Wow!

Look at the cute Gingerbread family

Love the patina on the gear

Each child is popped up, the little child's "butt" sticks out.

The icicles on the letters.
The beads on the snowflakes.
The iridescent material under each letter.
The attention to detail, wow!!

Each stocking also had a matching clothes pin and was filled with candy.

I think you will all agree that these are absolutely amazing

Thank you so much Jeannie, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the stockings and I can't express how much I appreciate your time and your thoughtfulness.
and
Your talent blows me away!

Altered Card Club

As usual we'll be meeting on Sunday at 2PM right before the Altered Book Club meeting.

Gotta be more exciting than Sunday football droning out of the TV, right?

Here are some of the samples that we've made in the past and now have on display in the store.

What the picture can't capture though is the fun that we have making them!

Drop by and experience it for yourself.

Quick & Easy Banner

I had a few minutes to spare on Friday Night and made the following banner using scraps and leftovers. These banners are cute and can be made quickly for any occasion. I have added details below.

The background paper is made from scraps of Basic Grey glued onto Chipboard. I used the Crop a Dile to make the holes and strung the banner together using gold ribbon.

The Hearts are part of a Maya Road Coaster album which were covered with Music paper and them sprayed with Red Velvet Glimmer Mist. They are popped up. I also popped up the chipboard letters which were were covered in Gold Glitter. I edged the hearts with glitter. A butterfly was cut out using a butterfly Spellbinders die and metal. A spray of flowers was added to the bottom of the "E"

I stamped using a Magenta Stamp on the background paper. The Flourish and the Crown on the center of the Kaiser wood flower are embossed glimmer chips. I sprayed them with a light pink glimmer mist, inked them with chalk inks and then sprayed again using an irridescent spray. Really glimmery up close. I used Chalk ink on the kaiser wood flower.

The last view. I hope that this has inspired you to use up your scraps!!

Picture Frame Set

This is a set of three items that I made using My Minds Eye Papers. I will be making frames similar to this for the craft shows. The candle wrap around is one piece of paper and I used the scalloped punches on the end for interest. The third item is a small Post-it Note Holder. Super simple to make.

Domino Tray

I thought it might be interesting to show some altered items that I have made. This is a tray from Michaels using Dominos, black paint and Stazon ink.

Phoebe

I made this Mannequin today. Took about 8 hours to do but, I think this was well worth it. The mannequin is from the Bare Elements collection by Creative Imaginations. I got the idea from seeing a large dress form done by Marah Johnson. Used both White and Vanilla Cardstock and the Stampin Up Spring Bouquet Punch. Each flower is layered and has either a mini button, Rhinestone white brad or Silver flower brad in the center. I used up all my mini buttons and silver flower brads. I also used up 5 rolls of ribbon including all my white and vanilla Ric rack. Yeah!!! I am going to call her Phoebe. For those that are interested I have still not bought anything!
