Make and Take Murder.

A customer told me about this series of books today. They're murder mysteries starring a couple of everyday scrappers. I've bought this one and am looking out for the rest (Paper, Scissors, Death will be next LOL). They look like fun! And I think Joanna Campbell-Slan is from around these parts.

It's already given me some ideas about how to deal with Rosemary if she gets out of hand in the future!

Pathetic

As you can see from the photo below, I have been quite good with my language lately and well, Rosemary has not.

Rosemary has no quarters. None, Nada, Diddly Squat. Because she has been using the bad word. A lot. I, on the other hand am an Angel :)

A customer comes in today, I will call her Ms. Pushover. The conversation goes something like this.

Rosemary to Ms. Pushover: Please swear, I have no quarters.

Ms. Pushover: I will just give you some quarters.

Rosemary: No you can't give them to me I have to earn them, please swear, please!

Ms. Pushover (who opens her purse): No here, I will give you some.

Me: No you can't give her any, she has to earn them

Rosemary: Please, please, please swear, I need some quarters. (said in a pathetic whiny voice)

Ms. Pushover: Just take the quarters.

Rosemary: You have to say the F word! (she is at this point almost on her knees, begging her to swear)

Ms. Pushover: Ok. F@#$, F@#$, F@#$, F@#$, F@#$. There you go here are 5 quarters.

Like I said, Pathetic!!!

Moons over Miami

hmm, it should actually read Moons over Wellington but, that doesn't sound quit as catchy. This is a story I will write about in the next few days. Just to let you know it is about an employee, her slacks and some floss disguising itself as underwear :)

Just a couple of quick photos tonight.

Here is the Monkey Club Class samples for the class on Tuesday
and the Quickutz Club samples for Thursday.
You will get either the Chick or the Chocolate Bunny Die

Must get some sleep, more tomorrow

A Family Connection . . . . . .

As you know we have Cheryl Mezzetti coming to teach at the store in April. We have made a flyer which we are handing to customers and also placing in their bags.

We have a customer whom I will call Ms. X She came in last week and we dutifully placed a flyer in her bag.

Now I don't know about you but, if my favorite Scrapbook & Stamp store places a flyer in my bag in my head I have the following conversation. Oh my god, they gave me a flyer, I wonder what it says, oh it's blue, I'm dying to know what it says. Shall I pull it out of the bag and read it now or should I wait till I get home, get a diet coke and read the flyer. Ahh, I have to know now what the flyer says. I am just going to go outside, get in my car and read the flyer.

I would then read the aforementioned flyer a couple of times marveling at all the interesting information, admiring the font they used, how well it is written, think to myself I love this store and just feel so much better about my day.

Well Ms. X obviously doesn't have conversations in her head about our flyers (is there something wrong with her??). She doesn't even read the flyer for a week. SHOCK HORROR, a whole week!!!

She finally reads it, notices Cheryl's name, goes to her blog, they communicate and they find out they are related!!!!

How cool is that!!

The moral of this story is: If we give you a flyer, read it!!! It will at least brighten your day or who knows you might make a family connection.

by the way: This story is true I have just changed Ms. X name to protect the innocent!

Martha Stewart

I had the day off yesterday and I had planned to be like Martha Stewart. I was going to do some cleaning, a little furniture rearranging and some cooking, whip a few art pieces and have company over for dinner. You know a perfectly normal Martha Day.

It never worked out. I did do some vacuuming, some laundry but, the furniture never got rearranged and the cooking. . . . . . Well lets say making a cheese sandwich does not count.

Instead I spent most of the day updating my geneaology software. A cousin found me on facebook and she sent me some details that let me add another 30 relatives to my family tree. It was fun, checking facts and finding family members.

Thinking about it, Martha I am sure never cleans her own houses anyway. She probably has a team of furniture rearrangers and she orders takeout!!!!!

Back to the store today to try and get some class samples done (never happened). I did get a lot of new orders in the computer and place a whole bunch of reorders though. Also managed to get the rewards point machine fixed, so it was a busy day.

Rosemary came in to work in the afternoon and handed me $1.00. She then proceeded to tell a story and used that F word 4 times. I think she had been saving it up. oh and a customer came in and gave me a quarter so I could speak freely :)

Talking about deliveries which is the real reason you all come to the blog. We got new cooking papers. Lots of Cricut Cartridges and stamps from Impression Obsession.

We also got a new Paper Trimmer in that has a blade that you can dial to get a straight cut, a scallop cut, a score line or perforations. It also allows you to cut on an angle and has an onboard corner rounder. The Perfect Cutter!!

A day at the store

As most of you know we have a lot of fun at the store, always laughing, always creating. I thought I would share a story from this week.

A bit of background: As a lot of you know I am from England and I say the F word a lot. It is just like saying "hello" or another normal word. It just doesn't have that foul meaning when people say it in anger. It is a fact, I do say it a lot. (I know my Mother would be horrified and disagree saying I was brought up better).

Well I had had a particularly stressful week and I was saying it a lot, and I mean a lot. So Rosemary tells me off, saying I would have to pay her 25cents everytime I said it. I offered to give her $20 right away so I would be free to express myself but, she said no I should just pay the quarter whenever I said it. So the day goes like this.

Me: normal conversation then
Me: that's a lot of f***** crap
Rosemary: You owe me a quarter.
Me: That's no f*** fair, it's the vendors fault
Rosemary: You owe me another quarter.
Me: Damn I am going to be broke I have no f**** money
Rosemary: You owe me another quarter.

You can see where this is going. I am now down about $1.50 and we have a class starting.

The Class is going well (Rosemary is teaching, I am working on the computer and assisting the class at the same time; yes I can multitask!)

Rosemary: Can you get so and so something
Me: F do you know where it is, I can't find it
Rosemary: You owe me another quarter

By this time I am catching on to the game. (yes, I can be a little slow)

Me: haha, I found the DARN ink blending tool, there I did not say the word, you owe me a Quarter
Rosemary: No it does not work that way.
(she then explains to the class what is happening)

I think that at this point the people in the class are trying to get me to say the word, just so I will have to pay.

But, I am wise to the game now and at the end of the evening, Rosemary owes me $18.50 for not saying it. Finally I can buy lunch for the next two days!!! The class starts laughing at me.

Rosemary says that it only works one way, If I say it I pay, if I don't say it I don't EARN money.

Lesson Learned: If you play a game with Rosemary get the rules in writing!!!

I think I will play the game with Capella on Monday using Rosemary's rules. She says "Whatever" a lot so I can earn lunch money from her next week!

I know some of you were concerned . . .

about my husband interrupting me during tonight's Grey's Anatomy episode again. Well, never fear everything was OK.

I escorted him to the garage with a lawn chair and a cup of tea at 8:55pm and let him out again at 10:02pm. So everything was peaceful!!!! and I was able to enjoy the episode.

I can't believe Halloween is almost here, which means the Holiday Season is fast approaching. I thought by showing you some samples from the store of fall and winter cards it might inspire you to get making your holiday cards. Unfortunately Blogger is having some problems and won't let me upload photos. I will post them tomorrow.

Grey's Anatomy

As most of you are aware Grey's Anatomy is my TV show. I love Patrick Dempsey big time. I even have a small shrine dedicated to him at the store.

I have my family well trained on Thursday nights aka "G" Day: I do not answer the phone from 8:50 pm onwards, the parrots go to bed early and my husband stays in the computer room.

Well this week he forgot that Grey's Anatomy was on, he came out of his computer room, stood in front of the T.V. and started to talk to me. Shock horror!!!!!

Well this is where he slept last night.

Like I said no-one interrupts me during Patrick Dempsey time.

P.S. For Sale or Trade:
One idiotic husband.
After Thursday Night has fleas, but somewhat trainable!
Call me at the store if you are interested

She's Back

"She's Back" that's what Rosemary was telling the customers yesterday. Apparently while I was at the show the back tables were clean. I made a big mess in a couple of hours. But as I told her it takes TALENT to make this kind of mess in such a short amount of time. :)

Tomorrow I will post some pictures of the Prima Booth.

Blog Candy Giveaway in exchange for words

As most of you know I am going to be selling some cards at Craft Fairs. With this goal in mind I have to make 100 cards per week to have enough, as well as making other things. I started this weekend with the most time consuming cards. I cut and colored just over 100 images. But, I need some help. The card above needs a funny generic sentiment that would appeal to everyone. Such as "It's not gossip if it is true" Although it is a suitable sentiment I don't think it would appeal to a lot of people. So I am asking you to post your thoughts on a funny saying, either as a comment on this post or send me an email. The person whose saying I use will be given the scalloped square punch in the picture. Put your thinking caps on ladies!!!

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th to everyone. I can't go out anywhere tonight as my Parrots do not like the noise of the fireworks, so I have to hold them till all the fireworks are done. Mango has to sleep on my pillow tonight. She is so big if she falls off her perch she could really hurt herself. :) It is cute sleeping with her tho, she likes to hold one of my fingers or my hair in her hand and she often leans down to kiss me through the night. And for those wondering No, she never poops in the bed :) She is a lady!!!!

More photos of my room

Here are some more photos for your viewing pleasure. The first photo is one of my embellishment draws. The second photo is my foam stamp storage. I keep them all attached to chipboard sheets using velcro. One Box is alphabets, one box is Numbers, Words & Punctuation. The third box is decorative, like scrolls and flowes, etc. I will not buy anymore foam stamps as I have no room left in the boxes!
The two photos show my desk and the last photo is the die storage center from Quickutz. The draws gold my quickutz fonts and dies and my Cuttlebug dies. Everything is neatly labeled and in its place.

Ramblings and a Layout and a Card

Sorry for not blogging for the last 2 weeks. I have been working on a number of different things, one of which I may be able to share the outcome with you later today and then you will know why I have not blogged! Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I wanted to let those of you who asked about my challenge for last month. I did not buy anything for 31 days. It was hard the last couple of days as I badly needed some supplies for a project that I was working on but I made it!!!!

On June 1st I bought the idea books and magazines I needed, and then I went shopping. I only spent $28 on supplies, how good is that!!!

Later this week I will add a feature to this blog that allows you to get emails when it is updated so that you don't have to keep visiting to see if I have posted anything.
The scrapbook page above is of my Niece Olivia, she is so darn cute. All supplies are from My Minds Eye and Prima. The card was inspired by a friend of mine that likes to drink Martinis.

Day 5

I just wanted everyone to know I am doing well, it is Day 5 and I have not bought or ordered a thing!
Pictures of my Embossing Powders and some of my other brand of inkpads. All my Stampin Up pads sit on a caddy on my desk. The SU pads you see in the photo are actually retired colors or Pigment/Craft inks.
The second photo is another view of my Patterned Papers and ink pads directy on. You can see how well I have used that wall space.
On top of the ink pad holders are jars with Pigment powders, embossing markers and fat/long ink pads that don't fit in the slots. The only ink pads besides the SU ones on my desk are two small boxes of little pads that sits on one of the shelves beneath my desk. I love these white shelves, they each old 72 ink pads and the one in the middle is perfect for all my embossing powders, alcohol inks, and other specialty coloring items.

Day 2

Here are some more pictures of my space: The first one is of my Prima and Silk Flowers. The second picture is of my 12 x 12 paper. The only paper that is not in these holders is holiday paper such as Christmas, Halloween, etc These are located along with the appropriate embellishments so that I can just pick up the case to create. Oh, I almost forgot, I do have a shopping bag filled with paper that will not fit into my current system. Hopefully I will use so much paper by the end of this month that I will be able to get those papers in :)
Day 2 of my personal challenge was quite easy despite being offered two free albums and some new papers. I was offered these by two different people numerous times who said if they gave it to me then it would not count. I felt quite virtuous saying NO!!!
