New York City Mother Turns in Son Suspected of Rape

Brenda Ramon from Harlem, New York, turned in her 19-year-old son Anthony after seeing on the TV news that he was wanted in connection with a rape.

When Brenda Ramon sat down with her son Anthony to watch the evening news, a report came up involving a teenager wanted for alleged rape.
Surveillance footage started playing on the screen and she immediately recognized the 19-year-old as the person sitting next to her.
She therefore woke her husband so they could take him down to the precinct on Wednesday, where he was arrested on a number of charges including rape and burglary.
His father Franklin told The New York Post: 'It was shocking, to see your son up there, wanted for some crime that we knew nothing about. He’s a good kid, goes to college, works in the night.'
Ramon was wanted in connection with a the brutal attack of a 33-year-old woman in Washington Heights, New York.
He allegedly started to follow her after seeing her on a Subway train in Midtown.

Son Killed Alabama Mother After Argument Over Grades

Blansit confessed to killing his mother, 45, after they got into an argument over grades, said DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris.
She died of blunt force trauma with a baseball bat, Gregg said.
Investigators said they found scratches on Blansit, a student at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, when they met him at the scene, CNN affiliate WAFF said.
Mentone is a town of about 500 in northeast Alabama. Blansit’s father said his son had been home several weeks and they were waiting for his grades, Gregg said. The father was at work during the day, the chief said.
Tyler Blansit was the couple’s only child, Gregg said.

During a heated discussion over gay marriage, CNN morning Anchor Chris Cuomo opined that the unalienable rights endowed to all Americans do not come from God.
Cuomo was debating Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore on the constitutionality of same-sex marriage. Near the end of the back-and-forth and after Moore argued that rights cannot be handed down by men, Cuomo blurted out:

Maybe Mr. Cuomo flunked elementary civics. The opening sentence of the second paragraph of the Declaration of Independence clearly affirms:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed…”

What’s worse is Cuomo is advocating “collective” rights. He speaks as if every American right can simply be overturned at a whim simply because "times change." “Sure, freedom of speech was great in 1789, but we've evolved beyond that as a collective society.” This is a very dangerous slope on which to tread.

A 30-year-old man accused of killing his millionaire Manhattan father is a suspected arsonist and spoiled brat who may have murdered Daddy because the old man cut his allowance by a measly $200, sources said Monday.
Thomas Gilbert Jr. was already hiding a dark past — including his status as the current prime suspect in a Hamptons arson targeting a wealthy rival — before allegedly killing his respected Wall Street father, Thomas Gilbert Sr., 70, sources told The Post.
The pampered Princeton grad went on his alleged murderous rampage amid a months-long feud with his father over what he still thought was his rightful due — despite his parents giving him the best education money could buy and even subsidizing his surfer-dude, gym-rat lifestyle when he got older, sources said.

A heartless Long Island grandpa stole a $2 million wrongful-death payout from his dead son’s young daughter — and blew it on a luxury car, a new house and a nightclub investment before his arrest last week, officials said.
“I was really happy that my grandfather was arrested and put in jail because he deserves it,” Rebecca Schaefer, now 13, told the Post. “I’m so angry with him for what he did.”
Gary Eriksen, whose son, Scott, died in police custody in 2005, secured the windfall in 2011 after filing a federal police-brutality lawsuit and presenting himself as the next of kin.
But the greedy grandfather never mentioned the existence of Scott’s daughter, Rebecca, and tried to cut her out of the cash when she emerged in 2012, her lawyer told The Post.

A Brooklyn father and his son teamed up to kill a man over a measly $8 – punching and stabbing their victim to death for snatching the few bills out of the son’s hand during a botched crack deal, prosecutors said Tuesday.
Rafael Vargas, 46, was convicted of manslaughter Tuesday morning. His son Richie Vargas, 21, pleaded guilty to assault last week.
The younger Vargas was buying drugs inside an East Williamsburg housing project in February 2013 when he held out $8 and bystander Anthony Dash, 39, grabbed the cash and said he was “owed” the money, prosecutors said.

A man imprisoned in New York for killing his son to collect on his life insurance is now charged with murdering his first wife in 1991 for the same reason.
The Post-Standard of Syracuse reports that Karl Karlsen was charged in Calaveras County, California, Friday with first-degree murder in the death of Christina Karlsen.
Karl Karlsen pleaded guilty in Seneca County in November to a charge of second-degree murder. He admits he allowed a truck to fall off a jack and onto his 23-year-old son, Levi, who was working underneath it in the town of Romulus in 2008.
