Aria is a really good sleeper. She takes a 2 hour nap every day and goes to bed around 9:00pm and wakes up about 8:00am. She usually is playing or just hanging out in her crib for about 15 minutes before she goes to sleep and about 30 minutes after she wakes up. She doesn't cry, but she can't get out of her bed so she just hangs out until I decide to come get her. I have said that I will let her sleep in a crib until she is 10 if it gives me a little time to get something done and know that she is not getting into trouble.
Well last night my peace came to an end. We put Aria to bed around 9:00pm. When Geoff came out we were talking in our bedroom when we heard a huge crash then little feet running to our room. Yes Aria jumped out of her crib. I know that there are mothers who have had their children do this, but I am amazed at how far it is to fall.
So the bad news is Aria is sleeping in a "big girl" bed. I have to lay with her for 2-3 hours before she falls asleep, and she gets up at 5:00 in the morning. I hope she learns that the bed is for sleeping and not for jumping and playing very soon.
If any of you have any good ideas on how to speed up the process let me know. I am tired.

Oh what a sad day. I hope it starts to get better for you. Lily never jumped out of her crib, but I have a feeling, Stella will at some point.
So I have no clue on this one. But, I suppose she will learn how to sleep in a bed soon...although it could be your bed! She is getting so big; I can't believe it.
I am laughing my head off. I guess you need to go back to Craig and Ruthie's house so she can sleep with them :) Good luck! I am dreading that day as well but for now I will laugh and the story and feel sorry for the 5 a.m. wake up call for you!
Oh that is sad. 5:00 a.m?!?!? I have a friend who bought her daughter a really cute little alarm clock and trained her daughter that she couldn't get out of bed until the alarm clock went off. She said it took awhile but eventually worked.
It had to happen sometime - but so soon! :( Try putting a lock on her door so she cannot open it or leaving the door open and putting a gate. I have friends that have tried both and they just let them do their thing in the bedroom until they decide to go to sleep. I guess the bedroom turns into a giant crib. She will get in bed when she is ready! Anyway, thanks for making me laugh. You know that my kids are terrible sleepers so I am the last to give good advice. Oh - Kylee does go to sleep on her own now but only if she is listening to the HS musical CD...no kidding. Nice lullaby huh!
I was going to suggest the same thing as Renee. Just take a lot of the toys out of her room, or put them up high for awhile until she gets used to sleeping in there. Lock her door until she's asleep and let her just play until she falls asleep. It might take awhile, but she'll eventually exhaust herself and go to sleep. Then maybe she'll sleep in extra late (you can wish, right?) Good luck. We're sort of trying this with Holly right now, but it's more just for fun because she LOVES sleeping in the big girl bed. But luckily we still have the crib set up so we can put her back in there at any time.
Oh I feel your pain. We are trying to get Mya some sort of routine right now and so far no luck. She does go to bed at night pretty easily for the most part - HOWEVER I made the mistake of always letting her fall asleep in our bed and moving her. Thus the problem getting her to sleep in her own bed from the start. If anything works pass on the word. We are struggling with naps more than anything right now. Anyway - can't wait to see you over the holidays!
I didn't read all of the other comments so this may be a repeat but we had the hardest time with Audrey. Don't lay by her!!! We made the same mistake and you can't realistically keep that going. We put a child lock on her door and just let her scream. It was up to three hours one day. She even lost her voice!! I felt like the worste Mom but you can't give in!!! One night, I said Goodnight and she looked at me and said, "Goodnight Mommy" and then turned around got into bed and went to sleep. It is just something they choose to do - that simple. Anyway, hope that helps! It's fun to see your blog! You have such a cute family. You and Geoff make a great pair. Nicole
Wow, that sounds terrible. I have no children, and therefore, no words of advice...only consolation. I hope she gets used to her new routine (which I hope doesn't involve you having to sit next to her for 3 hours everynight...) Let us know how it goes.
Your girls are so cute. Sounds like you are having a fun time!!!! We will have to visit you guys and Sarah when we come down again.
2-3 hours!! Poor Aleena! I guess if you really want her to do the crib thing a little longer, you can get one of those crib tents. My friend had the same problem with her little one jumping out of her crib (she's 2) and she now swears by the crib tent!! Her daughter never gets out now-nor tries! I don't know-just a suggestion! GOod luck!
