Southern Hemisphere Christmas card

Hello everyone! Well, this has been the craziest week going, and unfortunately I didn't schedule any posts, so having a big catch up today!

My first card is for our challenge over at UnstampaBelles, and for this challenge our theme was Summer fun, with the twist to create a Southern Hemisphere Christmas card. I translated this as a card with non of the traditional wintery bits - snow, frost, snowmen! Also, as we do at UnstampaBelles, no stamping allowed!!

I hope you join in our fab challenge, and please head over to the blog to see what the rest of the DT have created!

Box it up!

Hello again! End of the weekend, but only five weeks of school left, so can't be bad!! We went out to the farm today, very foggy and damp, but lovely to see the family and had a gorgeously scrummy lunch! We chatted about Christmas arrangements, almost hitting the 30 day countdown!!

Right, time for my first contribution to UnstampaBelles!! Our theme this month is 'Box it up' with a twist to do a tutorial! Bear with me!

I have decided to make boxes for Christmas! My thought at the time was to make Advent Calendar boxes, one for each day, all different sizes, to be able to put different treats in each - so far I have made 2!!

I started off with my We R Memory Keepers Gift Box punch board...

...I scored the lines and punched the sides as instructed...

...then I folded...

...I have used double sided tape to secure the sides...

...the boxes are punched with little tags to close the lid...

...and the other flaps...

...I turn the boxes over so that I can decorate...

...and that's it, my lovely boxes!!

What I have used:
Boxes - We R Memory Keepers Gift Box Punch Board
Rusted bells - from stash
Holly leaves - Tim Holtz Festive Foliage die
Numbers - Sissix Antiqua Numerals
Papers - First Edition Vintage Noël

I would like to enter the following challenges please:
Altered Eclectics - not a card
Crafting Musketeers - Anything but a card

Thank you for popping over, and I hope that you have been inspired to make a few boxes for Christmas!

Top Tip at Try Stampin'!!

Hello Everyone! Well, I've had a disastrous couple of weeks, but hopefully back on an even keel now! For my first foray back into blogging, I have cheated a bit and combined two of my DT projects into one!

Over at Top Tip on Tuesday we had to use kraft card on our projects, and my tip for using kraft card is don't be afraid to change the colour of your kraft card - I have used Glimmer Mist to add interest!

At Try Stampin' on Tuesday we had to create a Christmas Tag and provide a tutorial on how we made it! I hope this makes sense!!

Cut out your tag to the required size. I have spritzed it with red Glimmer mist, and then stitched around the edge. If you don't like sewing on your projects you could also use a white gel pen to draw faux stitches around the edge...

...Stamp your sentiment across the front of the tag and emboss with white embossing powder...

...Cut and emboss the poinsettia and leaf...

...Use a bone folder to shape the flower petals and leaf...

...I have used Diamond Dust on the edges of the tag and the poinsettia and leaf (I brushed the edges with tacky glue first)...

...Assemble the poinsettia with a brad and attach the poinsettia and leaf to the tag with the brad. Stick another tag the same size onto the back of your tag to cover the brad and the stitching. Punch a hole in the top of the tag and tie a ribbon through...

Thank you for stopping by, and don't forget to enter our fab challenges!
