Graduation Cap Gift Holder

This week's challenge on MFP's Simple Salutations is "graduation".  I had no images for this so I lucked out and found this tutorial for a graduation gift card holder.  I thought it was inspired.  DH was very impressed.

Here's what it looks like open.  I used MFP's "Above the Rest" for the sentiments.  I just love how it turned out.  I will be honest though, the tassel tutorial is not very good.  It took me a couple of attempts to complete it.  The tassel is in the colour of the local university's education department since I always need cards for my graduating student teacher each year.

Playoff Fever

Canucks are in the playoff and we need to celebrate. Vancouver hasn't gotten this far since I was in high-school. Please don't do the math! Anyways, I needed to celebrate and this is just such a fantastic quote by Paper Makeup Stamps. I thought it would make a fabulous encouragement or graduation card for a masculine teen. Aren't they the hardest ones to make cards for?

The DP is Bo Bunny's Boys and Bugs collection. The quote was stamped with Garden Green and then cut with a Nestie. It was then distressed in Garden Green and popped up on the card with SU dimensionals. I added Stickles after. Yes, there can be glitter on a guys card as long as it's purposeful. The stars are So Saffron and are popped up at different layers to visual interest. The small stars are popped on red rubber slightly higher than the quote and the large star is even higher, popped up on scrap EZ Mount.

Go, 'Nucks, Go!

A Journey Begins with a Single Step

Congratulations to my neightbour! She is celebrating receiving her Master's Degree in Education today and is a complete inspiration to me. Must get my act together. If she can do it with little ones, so can I.

I'd completely forgotten about the party until this morning and had none in my stash for graduating. Isn't that always the way? Boxes and boxes of card and none that you can use at the last minute!

Both kids were awake so I had a total of twenty minutes to get all the supplies out, create and put everything back before DS's show was over and he would come and "help". I love creating with him but not on a deadline and he had activities to get to today.

The base is whisper white, with a panel of Blue Brocade. I am sooo going to miss this colour - my all time favourite blue. It reminds me of chambray and blends well with so many shades. The grad caps come from SU's Year After Year (retired). I bought this set when I first started because it did cover so many occasions without a big investment. I used Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a bit of texture. The vellum is stamped first in Versamark and then Night of Navy and embossed using Wonderful Words (retired) and attached using some old brads my school was throwing out.
