what's cooking chicks?

Woohoo!  The {ippity} chicks are focusing on one {ippity} set today
Picture of What's Cooking?

Do you have those days that you aren't sure what to prepare for dinner?
Well I do, and I decided to take some action...I re-purposed this box to make this recipe card holder.  It's going to be a 'pick a category and pull a card (no peeking)' to see what we are having for dinner. My son and I have a deal that whatever cards we pull...that's what we are having for dinner!
I used all Crate Papers "Farmhouse" line of papers and trims.
I love how my little chef came out all paper pieced with these papers,
and I colored his face and tray with Copics...ca-ute!!!

Oh, did you notice the mustache, does it look a little thick? LOL...it's black baker's twine from Kim's Etsy Endless Inkabilities shop.  I used pop dots to bring a little dimension when I paper pieced him.

I was inspired by the shapes and lots of similar colors from
Click on the link above and go join in...you've got two weeks!

Here's what the box looked like before...
it was from a wedding...

 Here's what I did...

I made six index cards: main dish, side dish, gravy/sauce, bread/biscuits, desserts, and drinks.
These labels are 4x3 and all I did was cut them apart from the one Crate Paper sheet they come on.  Then I typed and printed the names for the cards, cut them apart and pasted them in pieces.  I finished them off with the Crate Paper Trims!
I also cut out extra pieces of 4x3 cardstock to hand write my recipes and then put behind each category.

In this photo, you can see how I staggered the trims on the cards, as they separate each category.

I looooove this line of paper...
Crate Paper,
Farmhouse.

Thanks for letting me share my creation!
So do you know 'What's Cooking?' for dinner tonight?
*smile*
Have a fantastic {ippity} kind of day!

A Carousel of Friends

It's Friday and you know what that means, right?
It's Friends with Flair Friday at Unity!
Many talented ladies are hopping today and to find the entire list, go visit the Unity hop HERE. You may want to also take a look at the terrific deal for today!

Also, how about a great challenge to be inspired by...
Ribbon Carousel has a challenge to use 'fabric' on your creation,
so I'm joining in there too!

I'm still playing with my new {ippity} Gingham Christmas Greetings stamp set that was released earlier this month and I love the plaid trees and sentiment, don't you?  I decorated a tin and I'm debating on what to put on the inside...maybe a small scrapbook, or a gift for someone...what do you think?

I dug through my stash and found a piece of green fabric that is cut out with the SU Bigz Top Note Die (I think I received it in a swap a long time ago).  I made the flower out of my Spellbinders Kaleidoscope die and really wanted to keep it simple.  Of course,I had to add some bling using my Imaginisce i-rock tool (love it!) and that's the bling on the tree. The bling on the flower is from SU.

The bottom of the tin is decorated too, and I think I may wrap some thin ribbon around the sides.  It's a pretty thin tin and I didn't have any thin ribbon that I like, so I'm on a search.

Don't forget to stop by Ribbon Carousel to join in on the fabric challenge, it ends on Monday:

I created this card with my {ippity} set 'Fall for You':
Recipe: Copics, SU c/s, Memento Rich Cocoa Ink, Linen thread

There is a challenge at Wee Memories this week, for 'no pattern paper'.  So I used my corner stamps from my {ippity} set 'Fall for You' that had those designs on them, so there is no pattern paper on my card at all.

I'd love to see your creations with no pattern paper!

I created this card for the Wee Memories Challenge #66 "Simply Sentiments":
Go join in on the fun for a chance at a $20 GC to ilove it all:
CLICK ON THE IMAGE TO TAKE YOU TO THE CHALLENGE!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also, I wanted to share a tip about cutting out images...now I am by no means perfect at cutting out images.  I often see that I didn't cut along the edges as close to the ink, like this image on the left.  To 'clean up' the edges a bit, I use a black marker and just ink around the edges, as you can see on the right image:
My cut out image looks neater along the edges when it's all put together,
as you can see by my layered butterfly... layering also gives some awesome dimension:
Let me know if you need some {ippity}....I'd be glad to help you with an order!
Click on my badge to take you to my {ippity} shop!
Thanks for visiting me and I hope you have a lovely day!~
So my questions for this challenge:
....oh my, what will my creation look like?
how long ago did I make it?
what supplies did I use?
how did I photograph it?
should I be embarrassed or not?
hahaha, isn't it fun just thinking about these questions?
So....here is mine:
I found this one in my SCS gallery dated September 10, 2008,
so it looks like this is the first one that I posted....
This is all Stampin' Up! supplies using watercolor paper and watercolor crayons...not sure that I like the way I colored...ha!
I'm still loving my {ippity} Loads of Love stamp set!
The folded laundry with the iron...love this!
Oh, I actually made the sentiment on Word for this card.
I wanted to join in on the Color Throwdown Challenge and wasn't sure if I could make the colors work, as they are not normally colors I would go to.  Don't you just love a good challenge?
Here is the color swatch from Color Throwdown:
Click on the butterflies to take you to the challenge.
Let's see what you can do with these colors (or like colors)...join in, it  closes on 8/14.
 Here's my little bit of brightness that I colored with my Copics.
This is called the 'spotlight technique' when you only color part of the image.
Stamps: {ippity} Loads of Love (I have 1 left in my stock! *wink*)
Laundry List:  Spellbinders Labels Three; SU Basic Gray, Old Olive, So Saffron, Yoyo Yellow;
Imaginisce i-rock too and bling; Copic Markers; SU lace punch (retired);
green seam binding from LSS, and yellow dingle balls (?)
And to continue on with Morissa's challenge of
'using up your own stash...no shopping'...
I used goodies that I have had in my stash...yippee!
P.S.
don't forget...
If YOU NEED any {ippity},
