Christmas Friday...

Happy Friday,

Today I am workshopping and demoing at Daisy Jewels and crafts in Coventry and this is the card We will be making.  Therefore I thought it would make a perfect Christmas Friday.

This is a another card made using the fab pixie Powders this time in midnight blue, Peacock and white pearl.  Im hoping the ladies will be adventurous in their colour choices I can't wait to see them made in lots of different mixes!

The card uses the Poinsettia mini background, poinsettia additions set and the new star merry christmas dies.

I embossed the background in velum using the snow flurry 8x8 embossing folder.

a few more pics as I don't want to give all the instruction for a workshop card lol

Ginger Corners...

Happy Thursday,

A change of colour scheme for today;s card however it was made using the other 2 dies in the set i used yesterday, theres one for value a soft pastel and a strong masculine card just from the corner and border set from the Indian Ocean collection.

I started this card by cutting the square edged corner die 4 times in ginger foundation card.  I then matted this using the outline die, in Kraft card and mounted them together to form the Art Deco squire in the centre finished with an 8mm black pearl.  There are 2 corners in the set and this one, just like the border dei, makes a different shape when they are mounted together.

For the corners I simply reversed the process and cut the detail in Kraft and the backing in ginger.

to make up the card I used the double pierced square dies ( the original set or Set A as it has been nicknamed)  to take the frames in ginger and Kraft.  I mounted the corners at the edge of the square kraft frame.  I cut the corners off the square so that the detail of the die cut corners comes to the fore!

I made up the card as shown (8"x8") using foundation card in black to offset the kraft and ginger adding a black ribbon bow from my stash!

for Julia...

Happy Wednesday,

Another sample from the new dies release designed by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions and I have to admit this is my favourite card so far.  This card was inspired by the fabulous Julia Watts as `i made it whilst watching her on Hochanda.  Julia was demonstrating how to make a background with a border strip and my only thought was how nice the Indian Ocean border would look as a background!  Therefore this is a tribute to julia and all she has taught me!

I will be demonstrating this technique on Hochanda in November when I bring you the bundles of this realise and Im sure this will be one of the first demo's!

I simply cut the border, without the outline cutting die, down a piece of coconut white foundation card.  I then added this to a piece of Iris foundation card covered with a double sided sticky sheet.  I added diamond snow in the gaps to cover the adhesive with a crystal at each junction.  I love the way that when cut this way an art deco flower appears from nowhere.

I cut each of the dies in the maldives die she in white and backed these with the iris and from moon ted them up finishing with a stamped centre with my Birthday Seasons clear stamp set.  I added diamond snow over the sentiment to balance the background.

To highlight the centrepiece I cut the cape daisies each in iris and white, shaped them with my ball tool and offset these to make the flowers.  With the bold scroll I cut these in white and iris using the letterpress technique, with cornflower archival ink, on the deboss section to add some more texture before mounting these around the main element.

A frame made using the double pierced background dies and layers of iris and white to finish.  I loved making this card and am so thankful to Julia for the technique!

Simple Sunday...

Christmas Sue 2...

Happy Saturday,

I hope some of you managed to catch the fabulous launch show with Sue Wilson last night ion not don't forget you can watch on catchup at www.hochanda.com.  Sue is back today at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and last chance at 7pm.

I promised I would show today the card I made featuring the 2 new dies launched for the shows and this card shows really well how they can be used together too take a fab christmas card.

I simply made the background by embossing a piece of midnight blue pearl foundation card using the nordic quilt 8x8 embossing folder.  Next I added enchanted gold metallic gilding polish over the top the enchanted gold is a fabulously useful shade as it is gold on dark card and white gold / platinum on light card 2 products in one!

Next I cut a frame of gold and midnight pearl card using the double pierced circles set A and B.  I mounted this over a piece of acetate then added the merry christmas and the Happy new year ( which has the and a included in this set)  I cut both again in the gold and midnight using the darker colour as a shadow.

I cut the background into a set of frames and used the double pierced squares to make mats for each layer in gold.

A bright card but if you can't be bright and a little gaudy at Christmas.

Sue's Christmas Shows...

Happy Christmas Friday,

Sue Wilson is launching the One Day Special this evening on Hochanda at 8p with her fabulous Christmas Die range.  Todays card uses 1 of 2 new festive dies that will be available on the show, this card features the Happy New Year die which includes 2 and a dies so you can add this message to the Matching Merry Christmas ( I have a card featuring with tomorrow).

I stared with a pice of velum which I coloured using purple violet and midnight blue pixie powders.  Next I em,bossed it sing the snow flurry 8x8 embossing folder.  I then smoothed Pearl Lustre Metallic gilding wax over the raised area so that the pattern comes to the front.

I cut the new year die twice in midnight and vintage god pearl foundation card.  I added these to a matching set of stitched flags and shadowed them.

I cut a wreath shape with the double pierced circles set B.  I then added a spare of poinsettias cut with more of the coloured velum using the poinsettia additions die set.

I added small silver dazzlers in the centre of the flowers and some thing satin ribbon form my stash.  A couple of matching stick pins and a spare of detail that sets off the sentiment.

A few layers of midnight, Silver and amethyst foundation card to finish the card.

Don't forget Sue will be back on tomorrow at 9am, 12pm, 4pm and last chance at 7pm.

Sunlit Daisies...

Happy Wednesday,

I'm running my regular monthly workshop at Breedon Priory today we are making 4 christmas cards today with a variety of techniques!  I thought today I would share another card made using the new stamps to die for designed to match the Sue Wilson new release of dies.

This card uses the new Sunlit daisies stamp which matches the stunning Mauritius die set form the indian ocean collection.  I stamped the image in watering can archival ink and as with yesterdays card coloured it using my alcohol markers.  I then cut this out using the outline die.  I also cut 2 more in taupe and chestnuts foundation card.  I also used the centre die to make the piece into a frame.  I stamped the sentiment and cut this with an oval die form a previous set.

For the main card I cut the new lattice die in chestnut and added a frame of double pierced background rectangles.  A large bow and dazzler in a brass dazzler setting to finish.

I made up the card as shown with, as usual, lots of layers of white, taupe and chestnut!

Autumn Leaves...

Happy Tuesday,

I noticed a couple of people asked when Sue wilson and the rest of the team will be on Hochanda so I've added the fates at the bottom of this post!

Todays card is the start of the cards I made using Sue Wilsons new release of dies with the matching Stamps to die for.  This is made using the Maple Weave stamp to die for and matching Charlotte die form the frames and tags collection.

I stamped the image using black ink and coloured it using my alcohol markers, I'm still not brilliant at using them but I picked up some tips form Lisa Horton this weekend at Ally Pally!

The background is the kitchen roll technique with mulled wine gilding flakes added into the mix.

Doodle Flowers...

Happy Monday,

Its my turn to share some of the samples I have made from Sue Wilsons stunning new Die release.  If you didn't catch the blog reveal last week over on Sue's blog you can catch up HERE at Particraft, Sues blog.

I debated which card to show first and so I asked Sue and she suggested the card I am showing today. This uses the new Indian Ocean background die, now as Im sure my blog family know I am partial to a background and this one is a stunner!

The beautiful Art Deco styling on this one is so classic yet different it really is a must!

I used Gloss black, Iris and bright white foundation card to make this and it is in the main a layering of the different dies in the set to make the main card.

For the main element I cut dies 1, 2 and 3 in white together and backed these with iris.  I then cut this down the middle and made this into a square.  I used the double pierced noble dies set A to make a square frame of black gloss card and mounted the white section on this ( this ensured I got a perfect square for the front and didn't have to just judge it)

For the finishing touches I cut the three largest of the new doodle flowers in each of the colours.  I then shaped these in the centre using my ball tool and stamping mat.  I layered these together and placed a pearl in the centre.  By shaping these flowers you really make them pop!  I arranged these around the frame with some ribbon from my stash.

I stamped the sentiment in jet black archival from my fern frames and sentiments set and finished.

This may look a complex layered card but I promise the dies do all the work its really easy to layers and put together!
