Colouring Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

I thought I would share a different colouring technique today one that was suggested or discovered by Mrs Duck!  This is really simple to add the coloured stamped image to a candle you stamp and colour onto a piece of thin tissue paper.  However if you leave a piece of card below and colour with Alcohol markers then a watercolour version is left behind.  I used this to make the card next to the candle.

Enjoy...

Vintage Rose...

Happy Monday,

I lunch my new range of stamps on Hochanda on Wednesday evening at 8pm as the One Day Special.  I thought I would share some of the cards form the Language of Flowers range this week.  Some of these cards popped up in the blog launch but I thought they deserved their own day in the sun lol.

I decided to start with the Vintage Rose which was the first I drew ( all the stamps are hand drawn and I will be sharing the original sketches with you all on the shows)  This card shows the large A6 mounted rubber stamp and the wood grain background and Vintage definition from the cellar set.

I started by stamping the rose in black Momento ink then coloured the rose using the Graphmaster alcohol pens in red 10, 11 and 15.  To add shading to this i used the white watercolour pencil from the set I had on Hochanda last week and added highlights on the centres of some of the petals.  I cut the image out around the grey line i drew around the coloured image.

Next I stamped the distressed text background stamp over a 5"x5" card bank using barely nude colour cloud blending ink and these shaded over the card using the same blending ink.  I then cut the lattice section form the Sue Wilson lattice edger die with one of the edges down the side of the front.  I added 3mm stick on pearls on the lattice and added a strip of pearls along the 'seam'

I finally stamped the vintage dictionary definition form the vintage Rose clear stamp set and shaded this before cutting it out and adding a white mat.  I then made up the card as shown using a strip of lace from my stash and more of the pearls to give a delicate shabby chic ( hopefully) look.

Enjoy...

Saturday Colouring Get Well Marie...

Happy Saturday,

Today I will be doing a special Demo day at Grafton Crafts in Huntingdon, contact the shop or pop in to see what is so 'Special' about this demo!

Back to Today and I nearly forgot Saturday Colouring and so at the last minute I remembered this die cut stamp to die for that I demoed on Hochanda earlier this week.  I coloured it on air to show the techniques so if you want to see how this was achieve, using the amazing Watercolour Pencils, then watch on rewind for Wednesday show at 12pm at www.hochanda.com.

I decided to make this into a Get well or Feel better card for a Friend on Mine Marie who has spent the last couple of days in hospital and has not had a good time with her health generally.  I wondered what I could do and I thought, as I am seeing her hopefully later in April, I could make a card for her featuring this.

I made the card up as shown using the Infinity striplet cut in white and backed with primrose foundation card.  I added the panel on the front, matted on 2 die cuts in pastel green and threaded with white crinkle silk ribbon.  I then added a bow of the silk ribbon with the hand cut tags stamped with the sentiment from my nasturtium elements clear stamp set in watering can archival ink.

I added this with some thin satin ribbon and matted again in pastel green coming form the large bow with a paper rose ( I didn't have time to make one sorry) and finished.

It just remains to wish you Brighter days Marie, and to all my blog family as well.

Saturday Colouring...

Happy Saturday,

I hope those of you who could enjoyed my shows over the last couple of days as much as I enjoy making them!  Today finds me in Darlington at Franki's Craft. Coffee and Chat for 2 days of workshops.

As today is Colouring Saturday I thought I would share this card as on the stamp release posts I only showed the sentiment section!  I have to say I am really happy how these red red roses have come out ( I really think these are so red they are red red lol)

I stared by stamping the corner rose form my new Tea Rose clear stamp set into the 4 corners of a 7 x 7" panel of bright white foundation card.  Next I coloured the roses using my Graphmaster Alcohol pens ( these pens really are brilliant even I can colour with them!)  I used the flooring colours which are the classic for a red rose according to Lisa Horton

Reds - 10, 15 and orange 22 ( to make the red shine) followed by warm grey in 1 and 3.

I used the 2 colours of grey to highlight the flourishes on the corners using the lighter grey to highlight the design.

I used the frame stamp from the set in the centre and added one of the sentiments from the set in the centre.  I then coloured the roses and flourishes in the same colours.  I cut this out using one of the double pierced rectangles and matted this in red and black as I felt the colouring could take the drama!

I made up the card as shown using the noble double pierced square dies its A and B to make the frame with the thin red band.

I then added a dramatic bow in black ribbon from my stash along with three red roses from the Craft Consortium always and forever range and a couple of stick pins.

Pixie Peony...

Happy Sunday,

Its my Last day at the SECC craft show in glasgow today I have to stay I have had a fabulous time and meet so many lovely people!  Tomorrow I will be demoing my new Stamp Range as well as new cosmic shimmer and SW die range at McOyster Crafts in Fife form 930 till 3pm, my last day in Scotland.

I thought today I would share a different project made with the same peony stamp as I used on yesterdays card.  This time its a canvas but its really easy to do as its all made with pixie powders.

I stamped the peony and heat embossed it with detail black embossing powder.  I then mastered off the stamped image and added straw yellow pixie powder to the rest on the canvas.  I then lightly sprinted the canvas with water to activate the pixie powders.

I then overstepped the knotted woodgrain stamp over the masked image using a sepia ink pad.

Next I used candy Pink pixie powder to colour the peony adding white pearl to the mix to shed the colours by mixing with water in a palette and using a water brush to paint the flower.

Pink Peony Colouring...

Happy Saturday,

Its another colouring saturday and today I thought I would go with a Pink Peony card today.

I stared by stamping the large A6 peony from my language of flowers collection in smokey grey versatile ink onto bright white foundation card.  I then coloured the image using Graphmaster alcohol pens.  I know the colouring on this one is a little more dramatic however I like the contrast between the pinks  and I'm still learning lol

I then stamped the on your special day sentiment form my circle sentiments set in detail white embossing powder onto kraft card. I cut this out using the Double Pierced circles.

I added the pieces as shown to an A5 Kraft card bank with a strip of black crochet ribbon to offset the pink.

Saturday Colouring...

Happy Saturday,

I love the stamps to die for that match the dies and yet I haven't coloured them much.  Now I have learnt some techniques from Lisa Horton ( and when stuck I text her for colour choices!) I feel like I can give colouring them a go!

For today's colouring Saturday I chose the  Cherry Blossom Branches stamps which matches the Tahiti die perfectly.

I stamped the image in black then coloured it in using the following Graphmaster colours
Flowers - 77, 84 & Blue Grey 3 Leaves - 46, 47 & 48

I used the Blue Grey ( This is a fab range of colours as the grey has a blue tone to it making it match perfectly) to run around the inside and outside borders.

I wanted a simple card to set off the stamped image which I had cut out using the matching die.  I cut the squares section from the Lotus striplet for times into a piece of bright white foundation card and from mounted this over a piece of blue dusk matted with iris.

I cut the lotus striplet separately in white and backed this with the iris and placed it, as shown, across the pattern and added the Tahiti stamped image in the centre.

For the focal element I didn't want to take away form the flowers so i simply added 2 pearl swirls to a Craft Consortium heart charm and added this in the centre.

Saturday Colouring...

Happy Saturday,

I hope a few of you caught the launch of the Takeover Weekend on Hochanda last night!  Remember that the Creative Expressions team will continue taking over Hochanda all weekend till 8pm tomorrow night!

Back to today and another colouring Saturday, I choses one of my old stamp sets Tulips for this weeks card and a simple make where the image does all of the work.

I stamped the image in black onto Bright Whiote foundation card and coloured the image using Graphmaster pens in red ( sorry forgot to write the colours on the back Ill remember next week)  and I used as per Lisa Hortons training orange 23 over the top to make the reds shine.  I coloured the leaves using 2 shades of the green and a yellow and ran the warm grey 2 all around the edge of the flowers and frame.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set into the ribbon and coloured it with warm grey 2, 4 and 6 however the shading on this hasn't worked as well as I would of wanted but thats part of learning!

To finish the card I cut the image out using the Sue Wilson double pierced background rectangle dies and col, lured around it using rose colour cloud blending ink and a smoothie.

I embossed a smaller piece of white card using the A4 vine embossing folder and coloured this with more of the colour cloud.  A few mats of black and red and I added the panels to a 7" x 7" white card blank.

If you are up early join me on Hochanda at 8am for a special Configurations offer show or at 9am for the One Day Special!

Colouring Saturday...

Happy Saturday,

As Lisa Horton mentioned on her recent Graphmaster show on Hochanda I attended a workshop with her at CE Towers and ended up buying the whole set of pens as I loved them so much.  This has meant that I have been trying more colouring and thought I would share a coloured image or card every Saturday.

I stared with the garden song stamp to die for that matches the Bora Bora die.  I stamped the image using
black ink and coloured it using the following Graphmaster pens
Flowers yellow 45 & 47 and warm grey 4.  leaves green 48 & 59.  Outline Warm Grey 4 cream 36 & yellow ochre 101.

I used the warm grey for the centre with a little of the cream 36 around the edges .

I made up the card as shown using panels of Kraft card embossed and set with black and white mats and layers.

A simple image to start as there isn't a great deal of space for shading but Im pleased with this as a first attempt!

More colouring next week,

Enjoy...

A Simple Masculine Wreath...

Happy Saturday,

IM taking a rare Saturday off this week and prepping for another workshop at Rainbow Ribbons in Solihull tomorrow and at Mountain Ash Crafts on Bank Holiday Monday.

I thought I would show a couple of simple cards this weekend starting with this simple stamped use of the Autumnal wreath form the autumn elements clear stamp sets designed by me for this weeks shows.

I stamped the wreath in watering can archival ink.  I then coloured this with Distress markers using a water brush to pull out the colour and give some shading.

A simple mat of deep cocoa and a 5 x 5 card blank and a simple card finished another one great for the men I think!

Sweet Summer Flowers...

Happy Tuesday,

I thought that after such a nice day yesterday weather wise and as an antidote to the Christmas cards over the weekend I would show a card today using the Sweet Summer stamp to die for that matches the Belgian collection Antwerp die by Sue Wilson for Creative Expressions.  Hopefully the bright yellow and soft blue will invoke sunny clear blue days to come this month!
I stared this card by stamping the sweet summer stamp in watering can archival ink.  I then coloured the flowers and foliage using my watercolour pencils shading the flowers with different shades of yellow then going over the tip to blend these using my water brush.  I coloured the leaves in 2 shades of green but didn't water cover these to give mire definition.  Next I painted around the flowers using a soft blue which I shaded by adding the colour to a scrap piece of card and picked top the colour with the water brush to give a softer feel.  Finally I ran all around the border with a darker blue.
Next  cut the stamp to with the Antwerp die to make the frame and inserted a primrose foundation card centre cut with the centre section of the same die. adding a sentiment using the smallest pierced flags die.  I hand cut the matts on the flag and attached this under the frame and shaped this over the front.

Finally I added a panel embossed with the real checker board em,bossing panel which I embossed whilst the card was in the double pierced backgrounds rectangle die so that I maintained the piercing around the edge.  A few layers of blue and primrose and a bow and finished.

A light summery card for, Hopefully, a light summery day!

Purple Primroses...coloured! is

Happy Wednesday,

It's another sample form my Shows at the beginning of this week as I thought you might all like a closer look!  I have to admit although I'm not much of a colourist I love how this one came out.

I stared by stamping the daisy Daisy heart rubber stamp in watering can archival ink onto bright white foundation card.  I then coloured the image using seedless preserves distress markers around the edges.  Next I pulled out the colour using a water brush.

Next I drew a square on another piece of bright white card and stamped the corner flourish, from the Primrose elements clear stamp set, again in watering can along the edges of 2 opposing corners of the square.  I cut the square out by hand and coloured the flowers in the same manner using Shabby Shutters for the leaves and spiced marmalade for the flower centres and the shading on the leaves.

I made up the card as shown using a shaded sentiment from the primrose everyday sentiments in the centre and a set of embossed an matted layers at the back.

A simply coloured image but hopefully effective.

More yellow daisies...

Happy Wednesday,

Firstly I wanted to say thank you to everyone who tuned in and order the one day special and the paper pad yesterday It sure was a busy set of shows and I was overwhelmed by the support and the number of emails that came into the studio.  It was so uplifting to see how many of you liked my new spring ranges and the paper pad in particular!

I thought today I would share with you one of the demo card from yesterday that didn't get demoed I went through as many as I could!  I had planned to demo this card in the Chambray colour way but just didn't get the chance!

I started this card by making a 21cm x 21cm card blank in white ( using a sheet of A4 bright white card) and added a layer of primrose and of white before adding a panel of the Daisy Trail paper in buttermilk which I had cut with the largest of the double pierced squares. I used the outline die form the new york union square die to cut the centre out first and matted this onto a piece of the white then primrose.

Next I mounted the smaller square onto more of the primrose  and added a double stripe of yellow seam binding and thin white satin ribbon down the left hand side.

I stamped the daisy heart, in watering can archival ink, and coloured this using my Harmony alcohol markers to add shading to the flowers and around the heart.  I then cut one of the detail dies in the union square die in white and the smaller square in primrose and foam mounted these all together in the centre.

I finished with a double messy bow and a few 5mm stick on pearls in white at each corner to frame the central element.

I know its another yellow card but this could be remade in any of the colours in the paper pad range to really say spring is on the way ( hopefully)

Yellow Daisy Dreams...

Happy Tuesday,

I promised yesterday some examples of my colouring this is my first attempts using Alcohol markers so please be kind lol!  This is another sample made for my One Day special on Hochanda which continues today at 9am, 12pm 4pm and last chance at 7pm ( if there's any stock left as its flying at the moment.

I stamped the Daisy Dreams rubber stamp twice, and coloured them in using a range of alcohol markers in shades of yellows and greens to make the flowers, hopefully, look shaded and 3D. I cut one of the stamped images out using the outline die form the New York union square die.  I then cut the four larger daisies out and foam mounted these on the first stamped image offset to make it look like a full ring of the larger flowers.

I then cut 2 of the detail die from the union square die and cut these into pieces to overlap them as a border around the main image along with a layer of primrose foundation card.

I added layers of primrose and bright white card along with a layer of bright white card embossed with the new Daisy Dots A4 embossing folder.

I finished with a bow of thin ribbon in lemon and white and stamped the sentiment, from my Daisy Trial elements range in the centre.

All the products featured are available on today's shows It would be great if you get the chance to tune in.

Primroses...

Happy Thursday,

Its another day and another set of new spring stamps, this time its the Primrose elements turn. I wanted to draw a set, that still had the elements theme, but which was also large enough for all of us who like to colour!

For today's card I coloured the primroses in using watercolour pencils for the main image and a shading using the watercolours for the background.

Here is the stamp plate for the Primrose elements which has the usual selection of main element as well as a range of sentiments and the flowers and foliage to enable you to make your own sprays or backgrounds.

I have also created a sentiment set i the everyday range to match this as well as I just loved the heart shape and the flowers!

I also carried on the theme of adding brooches of the flowers which I find so useful for smaller cards ( yes I do make some and have some great small cards ready to demo on Hochanda) and for gift tags.

Loopy Lynda, you need to email me your address so that I can post your card and gift to you please!
