More spares Pinkness...

Happy Thursday,

Its another spare today I'm afraid!  I always feel I should give a reason why I am using an older creation I have not shown so here goes.  I received this morning the light tent I had treat myself to as I had to leave the one I made back in Spain as it was getting rickety, the cost of making another one (without the wonderful Chinese shops and their prices) would be more expensive than buying one.  I did however make a mistake in the sizing and the tent is a cubic meter just too big to use. lol

I will sort this hopefully for tomorrow and start showing some of the cards I have been making with my beautiful new Sue Wilson dies.

Ingredients:
Cream and Pink PMD Card stock
Spellbinders Gold Circles one
Spellbinders Bauble blossoms one
White Felt

Any Better???...

Happy Thursday,

Well I am still not a fan of green but after last weeks green post I had to have another go, to see the original Green card click HERE.

This time i decided to go for a softer tonal green and used a great deal of the moss coloured distress ink.  I also tried a new, for me anyway, technique.  I started by cutting the striplet twice in a row through a strong card to make a mask.  This I then embossed (thanks Mrs Duck for the instructions on how to do this) and then shaded the whole piece using distress ink and cut n dry foam.  This gave a textured yet soft background and a darker shade where the embossing is.

I cut a whole piece of the striplet and shaded it the same way before wrapping round the front piece and adding foliage and flowers.

The foliage is Sue Wilson's faux quilled leaves and the flowers are felt, sorry Mrs D and several others, cut from spellbinders bitty blossoms.  The background for the card is made by cutting the striplet three times in a row, mounting the piece studding the points around with gold liquid pearls.  Finally I foam mounted the header over the backing and added the sentiment stamped in an inked circle.

I feel that this is a better use of green but let me know is this better?!?

Deja View...

Happy Friday,

On Monday I posted a card titled Ladies Day and as expected it split opinion I promised to try a version of this card without the ribbon and bow so here it is.

Click HERE to see the original post and card.

I decided to use the same base materials however I changed them round a little by making the paprika colour (the name core'dinations gave this card stock not mine!) to the front and the off white to the back.

I die cut the front piece using the Sue Williams Californian Collection background die ( I Know I know I keep using this and I'm afraid there is more to come!)  I die cut the core'dinations and embossed it before sanding off the top layer.  I then cut a plain oval form the very centre, the design really helps to select the centre on this one.  I then cut a matching frame using 2 oval dies which I embossed and sanded before sticking over the aperture.

I cut a smaller oval from the off white card, a smaller oval again from the coredinations and lined them all up with foam mounting tape.  The sentiment, from Waltzing Mouse, is stamped in the centre of another sheet of the off white card and each layer was cut on the edge to make each layer a little larger.  I finked the front off by adding liquid pearls to the points on the background die, one of the things I love in this die ios that there are palces to place pearls, perfect for a pearlaholic like me!

To finish I simply added a felt flower (sorry Mrs D!) made using spellbinders bauble blossoms and 2 of the faux quilled foliage die cuts (double sorry Mrs D!) from Sue Wilson.  This should, hopefully, give a different look than Monday.  Let me know which you prefer?!?

Enjoy...

Mothers Day...

Happy Mothers Day to all mums,

This is the gift I made for my Mum today...

It is based on the simple premise of die cutting hearts with felt then hand-stitching them together using contrasting embroidery thread in blanket stitch.  Now although I thought this was simple I started it before valentines day (not usually that organised!)  However I am glad I did, I had to teach myself to blanket stitch for a start, thank you you tube.

I cut the hearts using a sizzix Bigz heart die as this cuts felt beautifully and the die cuts 3 different sizes in each pass. Once almolst stitched together I stuffed the hearts with the contents of an old pillow (the same one I used for the Pin Cushion box's I made back in February)
This was an organic process and so I learnt at the end I really should of stitched in the ribbon loops during the process rather than attaching them at the back.  To neaten the back I stitched each ribbon loop on with a button.

Finally I decorated each heart individually using buttons, bows and felt cut letters to spell out MUM before threading them onto a pink gingham ribbon (Ebay bargain) for hanging.

I have popped in a pic of the box I made for this from yesterdays sneak peak in case you missed it. I will Let you know if she liked it!

Enjoy your breakfasts in bed mums!

Something Different Sneak Peak

Happy Saturday!

Today's something different is a sneak peak for tomorrows Mothers Day presentation.  Firstly this is the box I made to contain the gift... The box is made in the same manner as my Wendy House box (thanks Heather for the name) that I demoed last year.  Click HERE to see the original post and HERE to see the tutorial.

The gift itself is made using these hearts that I die cut using a Sizzix heart die in felt and hand stitched in embroidery thread in contrasting colours.

What I have done with the hearts and how I have decorated them will have to wait until tomorrow as my Mum checks the blog and I don't want to spoil the surprise.

For today,

Enjoy...

Something (small) Different Saturday

Happy Saturday,

Today's something different is small and hopefully will make a sweet gift.  Very Simply (how many times can I use that word in one paragraph!?!) this is a die cut and folded sewing kit, perfect when you want a small handmade gift.

The instruction are really easy cut a piece of card stock to 21 cm long by 8 cm wide.  Next die cut the end using your choice of border die.  I used the filigree section and cutting section from Spellbinders Bracket borders one.  Next score at 7cm then 14cm further on and then at 1cm.  This leaves the flap at the front and a "wedge" that means it fold nicely.

To make the closure I simply cut a strip out where the point of the bracket meets the front so that the lip can be tucked in to close.

Next I cut a piece of cardstock with the same cutting die and mounted it behind the filigree, cutting it to fit the folds.  Then I die cut a piece of felt using a postage square and attached it using a thin piece of foam tape, this allows the needles to have something to grab into.  Finally I added a strip of ribbon to hold the reels of cotton.

A small quick project but fun to make,

Enjoy...
