Piccoli regali e nuovi percorsi creativi

Lo schema dedicato al mio adorabile primo nipote é stato apprezzato più di quanto mi aspettassi da chi incontra mia sorella col piccolo mentre indossa l'orsetto polare.

The pattern I have made for my first lovely nephew has been appreciated more than I expected by the people who meet my sister and her son wearing the little polar bear hat.

Per questo motivo ho deciso di fare la versione dell'orso bruno e mandarla alla mia dolce amica Vita a Londra, anche lei neo-mamma.

For this reason I made the decision to knit a brown version and send it to my sweet friend Vita in London, new mum too.

Questa baby-mania mi ha portato ad una nuova collezione: "Mio figlio é nato".

Come avrete forse già visto sulla mia pagina Facebook, qualche mese fa ho iniziato a creare dei bijoux spesso mescolati ad inserti lavorati a maglia o uncinetto.

This baby-mania brought me to start a new collection: "My baby is born".
As you might have already seen on my Facebook fan page, a few months ago I started making bijoux often mixed with yarn knitted or crocheted doilies/circles.

O delle palline di feltro e componenti in metallo martellato, come questa collana realizzata per mia sorella.

Or some felt balls and wire hammered elements, like this necklace made for my sister.

Breve post per informarvi che é in edicola lo Speciale Inverno di Magliabimbi con tanti bellissimi progetti di ingegnose designers.
Sono così contenta di avere trovato il mio “orsetto polare” in copertina insieme al lavoro di altre mie amiche.

Anche questa volta é stato un piacere per me partecipare a questo numero, anzi ancora di più perché lo schema scelto é legato ad una persona molto importante per me, cioè mio nipote.

Knitting estivo

Quando si vive in luoghi dal clima estivo piuttosto caldo, potrebbe diventare assai difficile lavorare indumenti da essere indossati in questa stagione perché si tende sempre ad andare alla ricerca di capi leggeri.

 

When you live in a place with a hot weather in summer, you may find it hard to knit a garment to be used during this season because you usually look for light clothes.

 

 

Stavolta ho trovato lo schema perfetto sebbene inizialmente lo ritenessi adatto soprattutto ad una tenuta più casual, invece l'ho indossato senza difficoltà anche coi tacchi.

 

This time I have found the right pattern even if at first I thought it would have been more casual while it turned out to be perfectly worn together with heels too.

 

 

Si tratta di un capo lavorato dal basso verso l'alto con un orlo a picot creato partendo da un avvio provvisorio della maglie e lavorando poi il corpo centrale a maglia rasata.

It is a bottom-up tank with a nice picot edge created using the provisional cast on; then the body is knitted in stockinette stitch.

 

La particolarità del top risiede nella scollatura posteriore, dove le bretelle si incrociano a formare un nodo piano.

 

With no doubts, the distinctive trait of this tank is its back neckline, where the straps tie a reef knot.

 

 

Lo schema é molto semplice da seguire, sebbene io abbia modificato la lunghezza aggiungendo dei giri. La variazione di colori di questa Araucania la trovo molto gradevole e delicata e dovrei decidere cosa farne dell'ultima matassa rimastami!

The pattern is easy to follow, nevertheless I adjusted the length adding more rows. I'm in love with the colorway of this fine and soft Araucania and need to decide what to do with my last skein!

 

Altro progetto estivo riuscito é stata la eyelet skirt, iniziata in primavera per la seguente principale motivazione: la moda della stagione proponeva nei negozi solo microgonne per teenager.

Avrei voluto invece qualcosa di morbido da poter indossare tutti i giorni.

 

Another successful summer project has been the eyelet skirt, begun in spring for the following main reason: this season trend basically offered very short skirts for teenagers.

I would have liked something loose to be worn daily.

 

 

Lavorata con un cotone egiziano acquistato per aiutare l'iniziativa di unitecontroilcancro, presenta un motivo traforato lungo il bordo inferiore che ne alleggerisce la forma.

 

Knitted in an egyptian cotton bought to help unitecontroilcancro project, it has got a lace pattern around the hem that lightens the skirt shape itself.

 

 

Per annodare la gonna in vita ho optato per una lunga striscia lavorata con il metodo i-cord al posto della catenella a crochet proposta dallo schema originale

I used the i-cord method to make the drawstring waistband instead of the crochet chain suggested in the original pattern.

 

 

Ho apportato alcune modifiche al motivo traforato accorciando quella porzione e ho lavorato la gonna in tondo senza cuciture. Ho indossato maggiormente questo capo in primavera che non nelle afose giornate estive ma in realtà avevo proprio bisogno di una gonna da mettere nelle mezze stagioni sia di giorno che di sera.

 

I made some changes in the ribbon eyelet portion making it shorter and knitted it in the round.

I have worn the skirt more in spring than during the sweltering summer days but actually I needed it more for spring/autumn days and evenings.

 

 

 

Finisco forse con la notizia più bella: quest'estate ho partecipato alla realizzazione di Magliabimbi Speciale Estate 2013 con lo schema del vestitino Campanella. Vorrei per questo ringraziare la mia meravigliosa amica Tibisay che ha scelto alcune designer fra quelle che più apprezza includendo anche me.

Knit your Jack O’ Lantern

Di quando sono stata lo scorso anno a Trieste mi pare che ve ne ho già parlato. Dei regali che ci siamo scambiate pure, mi sa. E del progetto che volevamo realizzare…ah sì anche.
Ma.
Ma non vi ho detto di come ho realizzato alcuni dei miei regalini, no quello no.

I had already talked about my trip to Trieste last year...I think. About the gifts we gave to each other too, I believe. And about the project we were trying to start….oh, yes about it too.
But.
But I haven’t told you yet how I made some of my gifts, not that.

Ecco, lo faccio oggi giusto perché siamo a ridosso di Halloween. Che fra l’altro non festeggio proprio per niente. Ma le zucche sono simpatiche e noi ci eravamo incontrate proprio la notte delle streghe…dunque ferri alla mano mamme e bambine perché ho pronto per voi lo schema, che è gratuito e che potete trovare qui, sia in italiano che in inglese, come sempre.

Snowflakes

Questa foto l’ho scatta prima di leggere questa frase. Stamattina ho fatto casualmente entrambe le cose: ho editato le foto per questo post e ho letto alcune e-mail in arretrato da cui ho estratto questa verità. Non è una novità, ovvio, ma vederlo scritto così nero su bianco fa prendere maggiore coscienza della cosa forse.

I took this picture before reading this message. This morning I did both: I edited my photos for this post and read some past e-mails where I’ve found this truth. It is nothing new, obviously, but having read it on paper let us realize the situation better, maybe.

Questa sciarpa dal colore candido è dedicata a tutte le donne semplici e genuine, come la madre di una mia cara amica con cui ieri ho avuto un piacevolissimo scambio di e-mail.

This snow-white scarf is for all simple and natural women, like my lovely friend’s mother, whom I had had a nice e-mail exchange with yesterday.

Ieri ho passato un pomeriggio fra caffè e biscotti fatti in casa con un’altra ragazza dal cuore semplice. La sciarpa è sua.

Yesterday afternoon I spent a lovely time among coffee and homemade cookies at home with another girl with a simple heart. This scarf is hers.

Winter Queen…free pattern!

Purtroppo il pattern dell’ormai noto scaldacollo “riso e trecce”, per sopravvenute complicazioni burocratiche, con mio grande rammarico non potrà essere messo in vendita per l’iniziativa che tutti conoscete. Mi riservo, sotto suggerimento della mia amica Ciami, di metterlo a disposizione free per tutte le Lqa già da oggi.
Il test è stato effettuato dalla mia cara amica Tzugumi - un nome, una garanzia - e fotografato con una modella d’eccezione, Tibisay.

Unfortunately, my known “seed and cables” cowl, to my great regret can’t be put for sale in aid of the initiative you aready know, for unpredictable bureaucratic complications. I have chosen, following my friend Ciami’s advice, to give it for free for any knitter from today onwards.
Test has been made by my lovely friend Tzugumi - a real guarantee - and pictures have been made with a special model, Tibisay.

I have thought long about the possibility of sharing the pattern with you to knit it. Finally I have decided she would have appreciated that my first official public pattern was dedicated to her.
To her, to her friendship, to her easy-going posts, to her honest affection, to her helpfulness and hospitality, that I can say it’s like I’ve known her for ages.
The best way to thank her was a little gift for her birthday :)

The cowl is very easy to knit.

TB6 POMPOM COWL – SCHEMA

Lana: Blob, manifattura primavesi

Ferri circolari: 10

Avviare 50 maglie. Preparare le maglie sul cavo per iniziare a lavorare in tondo (io ho usato la tecnica del magic loop), altrimenti è possibile usare un cavo della stessa circonferenza dello scaldacollo.
Giri 1-16: lavorare a diritto tutte le maglie.
Giro 17: (lavorare 2 maglie insieme a diritto, un gettato) fino alla fine del giro
Giro 18-33: lavorare tutte le maglie a diritto.
Giro 34: chiudere le maglie.
Realizzazione del cordoncino: tagliare 3 fili della stessa lunghezza dal gomitolo, calcolando la misura in base all’altezza da cui vogliate che pendano i pompom.
Lavorate i 3 fili come se voleste realizzare una treccia sui capelli. Create 2 nodi alle estremità per bloccare la treccia.
Creare 2 pompom (un tutorial chiaro lo trovate qui) 
Inserire il cordino intrecciato nei buchi creati a metà scaldacollo (inserendo l’estremità una volta verso l’interno dello stesso e una volta verso l’esterno) fino a quando il cordino abbia fatto il giro di tutta la circonferenza.
A questo punto non resta che cucire i pompom alle due estremità del cordino.
Non necessita di bloccaggio.

TB6 POMPOM COWL – PATTERN

Yarn: Blob, manifattura primavesi

Circular needles n°10

Cast on 50 stitches. Get your stitches ready on the cable to start working in the round (I used the magic loop method), otherwise you can use a cable whose lenght is the same one of the cowl circumference.
Rounds 1st-16th: knit all stitches.
Round 17th: (knit 2 stitches together, yarn over) to the end of the round.
Round 18th-33th: Knit all stitches.
Round 34th: Bind off.
Work the string: cut 3 threds of the same lenght from the ball of yarn, the measure will depend on how long you would like to have your string with pompoms around the cowl.
Work the threds as you are plaiting someone’s hair.
Make 2 pompoms (you might use this tutorial)
Put the string into the holes made on the cowl (putting the tip once inwards, once outwards alternatively) until the string has wrapped all the cowl around.
Sew the pompoms on the tips of the string.
You don’t need to block it.
