Sunbathers ~

I rarely find white shooting stars
seeing them is like finding this treasure

I think the above photo shows so well
their name
Stars flying in different directions

even from behind they look like a celebration of life

truly petite little beings

when the sun comes out
sunbathers rise from the water
to soak up warmth

the little fairyslipper from my last post
has opened all the way
I visit it once in a while
(with bear spray on my belt, as we have evidence of a grizzly)

this lovely winged creature
landed on my finger 3 times
I felt honored

Spring is picking up momentum!

Montana Spring Flowers and Macros

sweet little bell
flowers of the kinnikinnick
so happy to see you

trillium
darling of the forest

curly bit of bark
upon a mossy carpet

mandala of tiny flowers
called Mountain lover
so tiny the flowers could nearly be missed

the details of cedar
a joy to behold

Red Twinberry
sweet spring flowers
above and below

so lovely to be finding flowers again

baby cone and needles of the Tamarack Tree
aka Western Larch

lovely earth day to one and all
today and forever

So Montana

 Spring equinox
I wandered south with two dear friends

we found wildflowers blooming
in the sage lands
(Yellow Bells, Fritillaria pudica)

a rabbit in a most unlikely place

an old abandoned car

buttercups
high in the hills

an old barn

So Montana

a herd of deer

one with antlers

curious horses

all in the Sage Lands of Montana

Sweet Spring
or
Autumn
to each of you

Beltane 2014

we are
halfway between the spring equinox and the summer solstice

flowers raise their lovely faces

to the sun

cloaked in leaves

glacier lilies breathe

until the perfect moment to bloom

flower season has JUST begun

it amazes me
to find tiny succulents
that have lived beneath winter's snow

I am still in love
with the new buds on the tops of fir trees

Spring Walk, Today

walking through the woods
my first wildflowers of the year
so tiny, i almost missed them

tiny fungi, big color
(ascomycetes, perhaps)

the top of a young pine tree
(if you were wondering)

last nights raindrops adorn moss

first and only violet that i saw
i did not eat this one

so tiny, i nearly did not see this family of five
(perhaps a Mycena)

buds
illumined in sunlight

~
Spring is beginning to burst
still a subtle thing
but if you look real closely
it is bursting

a forest walk reveals
spring flowers scattering the earth

shooting stars cloaked in mostly white

some a lovely mix of cream and violet

more commonly they are a vibrant violet pink
