Tearing up Utah highways 91-15

At a Love's truck stop because where else
does a trucker go.
Hanging out with the big rigs.
It was sooooo good seeing Shane and meeting his teammate.
We had a great time laughing and goofing around.
I was able to see his truck up close and personal and
wow! I can't imagine handling something of that size.
Scenes from after we parted ways.......
and headed toward Idaho.

 View from the windshield.
 Courthouse in Brigham City.

Beautiful scenes everywhere you look
and they do take your breath away.

Dinosaur National Monument

Absolutely amazing -
this little fella is the greeter...
There's a shuttle that takes you to this building
which happens to be built around the dig site that
housed the fossils/bones.
It's 2 stories and these amazing bones are on a wall
that goes from floor to ceiling.
You start on the 2nd floor...

Down the first floor that have this completed Allosaurus.
They actually pulled at 25 completed dinosaurs
and loaned them out to different museums.
This guy lost a couple of pieces.
And here's and old fossil touching and old fossil.
 Scenery is beautiful.
That old fossil keeps showing up in my photos.
As you travel through the park they have key
points... and this was the wall art
found at the same time the dig was going on.
The above one is the only one I could possible ID that
its like a sunburst type thing.
Below if you see anything artsy let me know.
This is elephant toes rock...
Its neat but tricky to get because its off the road
that I took from the window because
with all the shrubs around I wouldn't have got it.
 Turtle rock.
There are RV and tent sites along
this river that would've been amazing to camp in.
However, we're still having fridge problems. 😑😑😑😑
Hopefully they'll be solved soon.

We're hoping to catch up with Shane tomorrow.
Keep your fingers crossed.

Natural bridges and Mesa Verde

Had a bit of lens flair which I really
tried to get rid of but....
there's only so much room on the little platform
so.....
its still cool to see - natural bridges.
This was just a weird shaped dome....
This one is tough to see even in real life.
And this was just gorgeous with the
 different colors.
 Mesa Verde (green table)
and up high on this mountain with its
death defying dropoffs are the most amazing cliff dwellings.

At one point there were 5 different dwellings in a row
so it was a big colony.
This one is the cliff palace.

The changing mountain terrains

They change around every turn.
And they are really amazing.
Especially snow capped.

Jenga rocks are everywhere and I had to look it up.
There are a couple reasons - some religious or
just to say 'we were here.'
I decided to build one.
Not as adventurous as some but.........

This snow capped mountain was everywhere.
Of course I have 39472938578472094 shots of it.

I think this is Glen Canyon Recreation area
but now everything is a blur and
my notetaking is woefully lacking.
We did boondock in the Cottonwood Mantila-Sal National Forest.
It was a pretty site but nippy and $0 for the night.

Elevation Mountain High

Heading from Nevada/Arizona we took
to the Dixie National Forest  between Cedar City and
Long Valley Junction - mountains.
The beautiful snowcapped mountains.
And we're wearing shorts - summertime clothes.
and alas, we encountered real snow.
As in snowing, and sticking to the roads
and some poor person in a ditch.
It was really pretty and a bit dicey
as Tom never drove the rig in snow before.
This was also happening on the second day of MAY.
We also changed time zones again.
 And here is the depth....
We made it safely down the mountain.
And now we know - the rig is alright in the snow.
However, we did breathe a bit easier when we reached the bottom
and there was no more snow.
