I hope that your Christmas season is lovely and that you are finding time to slow down and enjoy it as well.  Here are a few pictures of our home~it's all decked out for the holidays!  I was happy to get it all done early on in the season since I was hosting a couple of parties at our home and have been able to not stress about that but just enjoy. our Dickens' village the learning room Christmas around the house our master bedroom Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Redo Your Room {a book review}

What a fun book for tween and teen girls!  I was excited to share Redo Your Room: 50 Bedroom DIYs You Can Do In a Weekend with my 12-yr-old daughter.  She is on a year-long quest to plan out a bedroom redo for her 13th birthday (did I mention that she likes to plan ahead?), so this is a great jump-start for her idea board! Complied by the editors of Faithgirlz! and Girls' Life magazine, this book is chock-full of creative ways to personalize your space.  It begins with getting your room organized and gradually moves into style, walls and windows, closets, and everything in between.  (I'm hoping my sweet girl will spend a little extra time on the organizing chapter ;) ).   After getting your space all clutter-free, organized, and furniture in the right spots the remainder of the book focuses on fun projects for each area of your bedroom.  My girl has quite a few pages bookmarked already!   The projects featured in this book are...

Christmas Open House 2014

Welcome!  Come on in! I've enjoyed decorating this year~more so than some years.   Not that I had new decor--I've used my old faves--but I've felt a little more relaxed about it this year and that's made things much more  enjoyable for me.   Thanks for dropping by for this virtual home tour!   I wish I could actually share some cookies with you :)  Merry Christmas from our family to yours!

Back-to-{home}school: our learning room spruce up

Now, right off the bat I want to say that not all--or even most--of our schooling happens in this room.  Our Learning Room (a converted dining room) is where our family computer and printer is, our art supplies can be found, wall maps and chalkboard are hanging, a large portion of our family library is (although every room in our house has bookcases!), and our educational resources are. It's pretty much the organizational hub for our homeschool.  But learning happens all over our house ...and yard ...and often other places, too. Each fall I like to do some cleaning (and cleaning out!), hang a new thing or two on the walls, and just spruce it up in general. This year I've put our reproduction historical US documents back on the wall since we're studying US history.  I've add a few cool printable infographics from Kids Discover about how our bodies work since we're studying human anatomy.  A new map of the apostle Paul's world is on the wall ...

A Little Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to a little Christmas tour of our home!   I'm so glad you've dropped by.  We are busy at our home preparing for Christmas.  Our days are filled with baking and candy making, shopping,  sending and receiving cards, crafting, playing, and lots of holiday spirit! I always enjoy Christmas home tours and am honored that you've come by for ours as well.  If you've visited in previous years, you likely won't see a lot of new things.  I love holiday traditions and am very sentimental about my decor (my family just loves it when I wax poetic about all of my favorite ornaments..lol).  I've tried to photograph some things from  different angles and focus a little more on details for you though.   Enjoy! {our front room~we call it "the library"} {our family room}  {the kitchen} {our learning room}  {Mr. B's tree}  {The Princess'...
