The Weekly Plan {March 19th}

"I'm still standing", otherwise known as I have survived yet another insane week and am beginning another.  I just tell myself  "I'll get to rest next month....". I nearly did myself in this past week though.  It all started with staying out WAY too late with several other homeschool moms when we headed to Nashville for dinner on Thursday (we had a PF Chang's craving).  We closed that place down and I didn't get into bed until the wee hours of the morning.  I've been paying for it ever since because it's been one busy weekend:)  It's been a lot of fun though!  We've had some friends in for the weekend and have really enjoyed having them here--plus our kiddos have had lots of fun together, too. Now I'm gearing up for this week.  I'm a bit behind in my planning, dinners and lesson plans, but it'll be okay.  Wait--I just remembered that last week I planned two weeks worth of school lesson plans!  Yea me!  Now I don...

The Weekly Wrap-Up: Pie, Chinese Food and Airplanes

This week kicked off with a bang with our new quarter of co-op classes.  The kids had a blast with their new classes!  This quarter they have Art Appreciation, Brain Teasers, Science {fun experiments} and Etymology {the study of words}.   I am actually teaching the Art Appreciation class.  This week we made color wheels.  We talked about primary and secondary colors and mixing colors.  I think everyone enjoyed it!  For the next 5 weeks we'll be learning a little about a different artist each week and doing a project in the style of that artist.  I think it's going to be a lot of fun! The only thing I regret about this week is that I didn't take enough pictures.  I was so busy at co-op that I got no photos there at all:(  This next week will be different though--I have assigned a photographer.   (Vince & The Princess going out on a daddy/daughter date) We stayed busy on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday with s...

From a Meltdown to Peace

This past weekend I had one.  A meltdown, that is. I was tired.  Oh, so tired. I have a problem.  It's called *trying-to-do-too-much-and-wearing-yourself-down-so-that-the-littlest-thing-tips-you-over-the-edge*. This time the "little thing" was a dirty shirt that no one bothered to put in the hamper.  Which made me think of all the laundry I needed to do.  Which made me think of all the other things lying around the house that no one has bothered to put away.  Which made me think of how much I missed having a neat and tidy house all of the time.  Which made me think of how utterly sick I am of cleaning the kitchen.  Which made me...well...it made me completely dissolve into exhausted tears. Thankfully, the kiddos were already in bed and my hubby was completely understanding--and has been even more helpful than usual around the house since, I might add. I was so happy to tumble into bed that night.  I was in dire need of rest, real r...

Have You Seen This Show?

I guess I'm a little late to the party--since this Season Two is now over--but I am completely addicted to Downton Abbey ! What a beautiful show!  I am about 5 episodes into Season One and I just love it.  I kept hearing about it from friends on Facebook, etc., and had to know what all of the hype was about. I was not disappointed. I was telling Vince that it was like watching a whole series of that wonderful movie Gosford Park , when I read that it is written by the very same man!   (Okay, I need to calm down on the exclamation marks, I know).   I love everything about this show: the melancholy theme music, the lovely way the domestic part of the home is portrayed and, of course, the oh-so-interesting people and their stories. It's the perfect way for me to unwind after getting the kiddos tucked into bed--you know, with a cup of hot tea so I can really feel English and all. How about you--have you watched Downton Abbey ?

The Weekly Plan {March 12}

I know I'm a bit late with my *plan* this week, but my week just doesn't feel complete without it.  So I have to do this, if only for myself:) Yesterday (Sunday) kicked off a very busy week.  I totally passed out once my head hit the pillow!  And today brought the beginning of a new co-op quarter--this time I'm teaching a class.  We had a great day, the classes went well, but I so wanted a nap when I got home.  Didn't happen, but a girl can dream, right? It's been a great evening with my family: yummy stick-to-your-ribs dinner, hubby helped me clean up the kitchen and reading with the kiddos at bedtime.  Now I'm looking forward to another much-needed night of sleep. Monday: -Co-op classes -Dinner: Pinto Beans, Hashbrown Casserole and Buttermilk Cornbread Tuesday: -School -Inventory the kiddos' spring/summer clothing -Dinner: Vince & The Princess on a daddy/daughter date; Mr. B & I hanging out together Wednesday: {Pi Day} -School -Ch...

The Weekly Wrap-Up: The One That Almost Wasn't

Yes, I know this Wrap-Up is very late...it's already the beginning of a new week!  However, I have had some computer issues this weekend and am just now getting a chance to blog a bit on my hubby's laptop.   This past week was incredibly busy!  We had school at home on Monday through Thursday.  On Friday we had our monthly homeschool group meeting where we learned about the Iditarod .   I thought I'd simply show you some photos of our highlights this week: Girl Scout cookies booth sale a local production of Once Upon a Mattress I love this bed with twenty mattresses from the play! Mr. B's entry at our local art associations annual student display (his is the monkey-- Untitled --directly above his head) The Princess' entry titled A Rainy Day In Paris (she's a girl after my own heart!) Enjoying looking at other students' art (Vince is pointing out different techniques to the kids) Mr. B receiving his certificate...

Please Stand By For Technical Difficulties

Hey, y'all! Just wanted to let you know I'm having some computer issues and will post asap with my hubby's laptop. Apparently my desk top's *mother board* is blown (ironic, I know), so the geeks have it and say it'll be back in a week with nothing lost.  I hope they're right! See you soon!
