VR May 2014 Jer 17 photo VRJer17picA.jpg

My first card uses the Jeremiah 17:7 Plain Jane.  Adore this verse!  Such a great sentiment to put on a Father's Day card, or to encourage someone by letting them know you can see them putting their trust, hope and confidence in the Lord.  I combined it with the anchor and wheel images from Strong Anchor and matching Nautical Die Set.

VRWM photo VRWMpicA-1.jpg

My second card showcases Wonderful Marvelous.  This is a wonderful set with sentiments for both Mother's and Father's Day.  Chose this fabulous sentiment from the set and embellished it by using the All Aflutter die and matching image from  Blue Skies.   Added a secondary sentiment using a trimmed off die from the Flag It die set.

Want to win some shiny new Verve? We'll be picking a random commenter on one of the hop spots below to win today's featured products!  So be sure to leave a little comment on all the blogs below to increase your chances! Mojo Monday #345

Mojo 345 photo Mojo345picA.jpg

Another fun sketch by Julee for us to play with this week.  I thought through various things to use in the circles and came up with shamrocks.   Lucky You is such a fun set to use and love the matching Shamrock Die Set!  Needless to say, I will be well prepared for next year's St. Patrick's Day!

I fudged the sketch a bit by separating my circles, but the shamrock cluster just didn't work.  I have free falling shamrocks instead wink, wink {grin}.  Snuck in a few polka dots for good measure and went a bit wild with the black buttons LOL!

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Had a wonderful Mother's Day with the family.  A wonderful sushi dinner and then lots of crafty time during the day - yeah!

Hope you can play along this week as I look forward to seeing everyone's take on the sketch!

Just Us Girls #240 - Technique Challenge

JUGS240 photo JUGS240picA.jpg

Welcome to this week's "kissing" technique challenge at Just Us Girls.  The kissing would be with stamps not your honey, but you could do both, just not at the same time LOL!

It is a very simple technique.  You simply "kiss" one stamp to another, using just one inked stamp, or inking both stamps.  Here is a link to a basic Kissing Technique tutorial.

I had not made my Mom's Mother's Day card yet so this was the perfect excuse to do so!  I used this week's MFT sketch and kissed Rose Red on to the Regal Rose flower with Stampin' Up's French Script.  The rest of the card is all Verve.  Just love the font and fabulous sentiment.  Very appropriate as my  mom just got out of a week in the hospital.   She was diagnosed with a branch of Addison's and now that she has her sodium, potassium and cortisol levels are all balanced out, she feels like a million bucks :)  A wonderful Mother's Day gift to both of us!

The rest of the  JUGS team, along with our May Guest Designer Barbara Campbell have some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they've created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week, you could be invited to be a Guest Designer.

Looking forward to celebrating Mother's Day with the family.  So grateful that I have an wonderful mom, two amazing children and a very supportive husband.   I am blessed indeed!

Thanks for popping by today and have a fabulous weekend!

Just Us Girls #238 - Photo Inspiration

JUGS 238 photo JUGS238picA.jpg

It's Inspiration week over at Just Us Girls and Sue T. has provided this fun photo for to inspire us!  If you've been around my blog for any amount of time, you will know how much I love working with polka dots, and those polka dots in the photo were calling my name LOL!  I also pulled out the yellow, pink, green and touch of blue from the photo to use as the colours on my card.

Pulled out some MFT dies and my sorely neglected Labels 10 Nestability die.  Forgot how much I love this shape!  Verve's Lean On Me sentiment was a perfect fit for the remaining space and love how the large font makes it stand out against the flower.

The rest of the  JUGS team, along with the last appearance of our April Guest Designer Lee Anne (who has done an amazing job as GD this month!), have some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they've created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week, you could be invited to be a Guest Designer.

Verve Diva Dare April 2014

This month's Diva Dare is entitled "Little Things".  In honor Spring's arrival, this month's Dare is to create a baby or kid's themed card.

Diva Dare April 2014 photo DDApr2014picA.jpg

I love making baby cards, and since the last one I made was for a boy, this one had to be for a girl so my stash is even LOL!  used one of my favorite colour combos for this card and of course, Verve's To The Moon baby set - a must have!  Paper pieced Emerietta (my female name for Emery), double punched the heart border, stuck it together and added some ruffled ribbon down the middle to create my "lace" and then had fun with pearl accents.

Where there is a Verve Diva Dare, there are prizes, and this month's dare provides two prizes: one for a randomly selected participant and one for a randomly selected commenter!

Want to get all the details on how you can win some Verve Stamps?  Simply head on over to the Verve Blog to get all the challenge details - I dare you!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Farm Fresh

** Second post of the day.  For the Verve Release Hop please see my first post **

This week's Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge is entitled "Farm Fresh"  and our sponsor is Taylored Expressions!

The LEAD of this challenge will receive their choice of TWO PETITE SETS from Taylored Expressions!

CC Mar 15, 2014 photo CCMar15picA.jpg

I chose this fabulous set from Taylored Expressions called Light As A Feather.  Yeah!  I finally have some feathers and feather dies in my collection!

The sketch is from  I Heart Sketches and I immediately pulled out my chicken wire embossing folder - oh how I love this thing!  Such a fun pattern to add to cards and it fit the "farm" theme perfectly.  Chose my colours for the feathers from the inspiration photo and off set them against the kraft.  Added this fun sentiment and a few extra black half pearls for a little something as the focal panel was a bit plain. Finished things off with some orange twine and a button.

You can check out all the challenge details over on the Curtain Call Inspirations Challenge and also get a chance to view all the wonderful Curtain Call Crew samples as well as our two guest designer samples!  Should you wish more details on the Curtain Call Crew's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Mojo Monday #335

Mojo 335 photo Mojo335picA-1.jpg

It's the first Monday of the month which means it is contest time over at the Mojo Monday blog and we have this wonderful sketch by Julee to work with.  One winner will be chosen for every fifty entries so come and play along for a chance to win some Verve!

The papers I chose are from Fancy Pants' Park Bench, and I used the Loopy Bloom die for the flower and the sentiment is from Big Wish.  Just realized I used the same die on last weeks card - sorry about that!  With spring on the way I have flowers on the mind LOL!

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

The rain has finally come and the remainder of our eleven inches of snow is quickly disappearing.  Was beautiful while it lasted, the kids had a ball playing in it, but not it's time to look forward to spring!

Have a fabulous day!

Mojo Monday #334

Mojo 334 photo Mojo334picA.jpg

It's the fourth Monday of the month which means it is time for a Tall and Skinny sketch over on the Mojo Monday blog!

Oh how I am enjoying this card concept and size!  You can keep things contained to the card size or have things hang over the edge to get to the 4 1/4" width and still fit the standard A2 envelope.  Or, you can go long with a 6" x 3 1/2" size for added length.  Lots of flexibility and room for options :)

I haven't played along with the Colour Throwdown forever, and with this week's fabulous colour combination, I just couldn't resits.  The colours tend to lend themselves toward a masculine card, but I decided to go girly.

I gleefully pulled out my flowers and butterflies in giddy anticipation of spring and this was my result.  Just adore font in this birthday sentiment from Poppy Birthday, and used the Loopy Blooms die set (which just happens to be on sale right now over at the Verve Store) for my flower.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

A busy weekend helping friends move and shuttling kids to and from activities.  I'm already looking forward to Spring Break when my son's soccer is over, other activities shut down for a few weeks and we get to enjoy a more relaxed schedule.

Thanks for popping by and hope you can play along with our Tall and Skinny sketch.

Mojo Monday #333

Mojo #333 photo Mojo333picA.jpg

Time for another Mojo Monday sketch and this one allows for a great use of patterned papers.

Since Valentine's Day is now over, time for hearts go to the back burner (for a while anyway as I just love using hearts on cards) and flowers and butterflies get to take center stage.  Happy times as I just love using both!

Papers are from MME's A Mother's Love and the sentiment is from Verve's Lean On Me (adore the big, bold sentiments in this set!).  Out came my Flutterby die and the leaves on the olive panel are from Bloom and Grow.  Think this card will be going to my daughter.  High school is such a tough time for girls and this will be an encouragement for her to not to try to be anyone she is not, but to simply be herself and grow into the person she is meant to be.  For the most part she is very good at doing just that, but I'll have this in reserve for a time when she doesn't feel good about herself.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Watched my son's soccer game in the pouring rain on Saturday, and I mean pouring!  For all the snow the East Coast is getting we are getting the liquid version over here on the West Coast!  The rest of the weekend was spent watching a ton of the Olympics -- yes I'm an Olympic junkie!  Canada's athletes are making me proud and it brings back many fun memories from when Vancouver hosted the Winter Olympics in 2010.

Cried buckets when Alexander Bilodeau repeated his gold medal win in the Men's Moguls and then ran over to give his biggest fan, his brother with cerebral palsy, a huge hug.  Then he once again gave credit to his brother for being the motivating factor for his achievements.  Lots of other fabulous highlights as athletes push themselves to be the best they can be.  Love it!!  Needless to say, the house cleaning can wait LOL!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

Just Us Girls #228 - Colour Challenge

JUGS 228 photo JUGS228picA.jpg

This week's hostess is Sharyn and she has this fabulous photo for our colour challenge this week.  I decided to go with a rainbow theme and bring out the butterflies as these colours just made me happy :)

This week's Freshly Made Sketch was a great fit for what I had in mind.  I used Lil' Inkers stitched circle dies (love these!)  for a bit of texture on the circles and even managed to find some pink, gingham paper for my background.  A happy coincidence was the sentiment banner.  It was left over from another project and somehow managed to fall across the card while I was working on it.  I loved the look of the vertical banner and decided to use it.  A little freelancing on the sketch, but hopefully the FMS police are okay with it wink, wink.

The rest of the  JUGS team, along with our February Guest Designer Melissa Hubert, have some wonderful samples to get your inspiration going, so head on over to the Just Us Girls blog and check out what they've created.  Then put your creative genes to work and add your card/project to the challenge post on the JUGS blog for the chance to be chosen as the Chic of the Week.  Plus if you are chosen as Chic of the Week, you could be invited to be a Guest Designer.

Cuing up for a very wet weekend - ugh!!  As fate would  have it, my son has two soccer games this weekend so it's going to be very soggy on the sidelines -- double ugh!  Think we'll come home, dry off, and warm up by snuggling on the couch as a family as we watch the Olympics -- go team Canada!!

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge - Cuppa Cocoa

Time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!  This challenge is entitled "Cuppa Cocoa" and our sponsor is My Favorite Things.  The LEAD for this challenge will receive a $20 gift certificate to their store!

CC Feb 1/14 photo CCFeb1picA.jpg

Loved the blue and brown colour combo in the inspiration picture so that was my starting point.  Verve's Better With You set provided the hot chocolate mug, of which the bottom and handle are paper pieced.  A stamped heart image and a little red sequin heart provided a pop of colour and the twine bow balanced things off nicely.

Mojo Monday #330

Mojo 330 photo Mojo330picA.jpg

The ever creative Julee has come up with a new concept for the fourth week of Mojo Monday and I just love it!!  Sketches will be for "tall and skinny" cards  That means your card can be 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" so you can still use an A2 envelope, or your you could go with a 3 1/2" x 6" size (12 x12 cut in half) which fits a regular, business envelope.  Too much fun!

For my card, I pulled out my life verse Plain Jane: Phil 1:6. I was doing cartwheels when I saw Julee had put it in stamp form and still get teary eyed knowing that I can forever produce this fabulous verse on cards.  Thank you again, Julee!

The papers are from MME's In Bloom and I used red accents for pops of colour and a touch of bling to finish things off.

All the challenge details are over on the Mojo Monday blog and you can also view all the wonderful Mojo Makers samples.  Should you wish more details on the Mojo Maker's cards, you can also visit their individual blogs noted below.

Thanks for popping by today.  Hope you enjoy the new tall and skinny sketch as much as I did :)

You Make Everything Groovy

VLV Jan2014 Week 3 photo VLVJanWk3JPicA.jpg

Welcome to Viva La Verve's January Week 3 sketch and inspiration picture hosted by Diva Christyne.

I must say, I'm definitely hitting the theme of the decade I was born in with this inspiration picture and card LOL!  Those are some funky colours, shag pillows, bold patterns and textures, not to mention the eclectic chandelier!  All that's missing are the beaded curtains.

That being said, I had to hunt far and wide for some purple paper as I don't have a lot of in my stash, not to mention the mix of patterns and colours I had to put together.  My eyes are still going buggy!  But then, it's all about challenging ourselves and getting out of our comfort zones, right?

I focused on the black borders/outlining and the colours.  My grey paper pattern was close to the couch pillow pattern, and the chevrons pick up the pointy edges of the star shaped table.  Bright yellow bubble sofa became embossed dots and the sentiment fit the era perfectly - score!  Two flowers as per the container of petals on the and I was good to go.

Think I'll have to save this card for some sixties themed party a member of our family gets invited to as it is quite the eye full LOL!

Thanks for popping by and if you want to see which cards I chose to highlight for this week's VLV sketch and Inspiration picture, head on over to the Viva La Verve blog and check it out.

Thanks for popping by today!  I'm off to get myself a venti, decaf non-fat latte as my birthday treat to myself :)
