People came as early as 10am to queue up for their goodie bag (50 goodie bags were given out every hour). The event only started at 11am.

Parents got down to work with their children in all earnestness and got their hands dirty with paint, glue, sticky tape and all sorts of other crafting materials.

Indeed, many saw it as an opportunity to spend quality time with their children during the weekend, which was also the first day of the school holidays.

FAQs:

1) Can I leave my kids there and go shopping?

No. Your children are your responsibility and this event is to give you a chance to spend quality time with them. It is not a babysitting service.

2) Can I bring my elderly parents and maid along?

Yes, but unless they are crafting with your child, they won't be able to go into the crafting area. Please note, we will be sitting on the floor, so come dressed to sit on the carpeted floor. If your elderly parent wants to craft with your kids, please ensure they are able to sit on the floor.

3) Do I have to bring any scissors or gum with me?

No, all materials will be provided.

4) Can I get more than 1 goodie bag?

No, only 1 goodie bag will be given out per registrant/family for the day.

5) I registered early but I'll be there on the day late, can I still get a goodie bag?

Only if you're among the first 33 for paper quilling and decoupage, and first 34 for felt crafting.

6) If I register late but I am early on the day can I get a goodie bag?

Yes, if you're among the first 33 for paper quilling and decoupage, and first 34 for felt crafting.

7) Can I register on the day?

Yes, but that will take time and you may not be able to get a goodie bag if others are earlier than you.

8) If I register, am I ensured of a space at the crafting sessions?

Only if you arrive early enough and there is space on the floor.

9) So, what is the point of registering in advance?

You want to register in advance so that on the day if you come early enough, you can get a goodie bag. Also, if you register in advance you don't waste time filling up the form on the day.

10) Can I attend all the crafts?

Yes, as long as there is enough space. As the crafts are broken up into 3 sessions, you would need to be early to be admitted to each session. You will not be able to sit there and reserve your space for the 4 hours. After each session, everyone will have to vacate the space as we clean up and prepare for the next craft.

11) If I don't get into the first craft, can I get into the second craft?

Yes, if there is space.

12) What else can I do if I can't get in?

There will be sponsor tables by Baby Jumper Gym, Eskulin and Zespri and they will each have their own activities and/or crafts.

13) Are there any contests?

We wil take photos of the children with their crafts and post them on our Facebook page (Facebook.com/parenthots). The photo with the most Likes (per craft) will win this prize:
Folk & Fairy Tale Easy Readers Parent Pack.
There are 3 prizes to be won (one per craft).

14) What do I need to bring?

Yourself, your children, your good manners, patience and smile!

15) What shouldn't I do?

Fight with other parents for space. We understand that parents really like to participate in events like this with their children, but do keep in mind that your children are watching you. So, fighting with another parent in front of your kids is not recommended.

Here are some photos of last year's event just to give you an idea of the fun we had:
