Happy Sweet 16

Exploring Cricut and More is celebrating their 4th birthday this week.  To celebrate they are hosting a birthday challenge and also sharing birthday projects all week to get our creative juices flowing.  But the fun ends on the 26th.  Fortunately I'm getting a little play time in while I'm finishing preparations for my craft show this weekend.

I have this Forever Young cartridge that I've never really played with much and thought this  girl would be perfect to use for a Sweet 16 birthday card.  Her stance made it the perfect choice to combine with the "16" candles I cut using the Sweet Treats cartridge.

The background 'paper' I used for this card isn't really paper but rather  a sheet of aluminum foil from Walnut Hollow.  I loved the way it turned out so much that I went back to Michael's this weekend and bought a pack of every color available.

My inside sentiment on this one says, "Say goodbye to dolls and toys.  Say hello to makeup and boys!  Happy Sweet 16"

And now I'm off to enter my card into their challenge.

May Day Flowers

Happy Wednesday fellow bloggers and welcome to Cricut Cardz Challenge #108 - May Day Flowers.  This week's challenge was to make a card using flowers from any cartridge/cut we desired.  And since I have a friend who's birthday is this week I took the opportunity to make my May Day card in to a May Day Birthday.

For this card I used:

Forever Young for the flower.  Before cutting the green layer I created a text box in MS Word and filled it with the text Happy Birthday in a font that would be compatible with the look and feel of my card.

Paper Pups for my pup and the stack of birthday presents balanced on his nose.  I also pop dotted the pup and presents to give the card some dimension.

My background paper is from my stash.  I thought that this print was perfect for the flower cut I chose because the petals look so much alike.

Mom's Been Framed

Happy Wednesday everyone, and welcome to another installment in our bi-weekly Cricut Cardz Challenge.  This week we bring you the "You've Been Framed" challenge where the directive is to create a card using any frame from any cartridge of your choosing.

For my card I used:

Wild Card for the frame.  I loved the little 'cut-outs' in the corners and was immediately sold on using this frame.  For my backing I used pink and green aluminium 'paper'.  It made it a little difficult to photograph the card but it looks great IRL.

Forever Young was used for my 'mom' cut.  I used my Colorbox ink to color the hair and the shoes on her feet.  Then instead of adding the little embellishment cuts on the dress I decided to emboss it because I thought it would add more oomph and interest to the card.

Then, on the inside of the card..................

I didn't want to waste those cuts that were done in the corners of my frame so I used them in the corners on the inside of the card.

C'mon, it'll be fun!!
