Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #22

Well, it's Thursday again and that means another "Show Me" over on Sassy Cheryl's Blog. My sister called me a few weeks ago and asked a "favor" of me. My niece will be turning 1 year old on May 29 and my sister was looking for party invitations. Of course, all she could find was the cheesy kind of invite at Wal-mart with Dora the Explorer, etc. So, she calls her big sis and asks "Can you make a few party invitations?" Well, I can't refuse my little sister AND my baby niece can I? So, this week I'm making 16 birthday party invitations. As you can see, I'm keeping it pretty simple and did most of the work on the computer. The main image is from Heather Ellis' Pure Innocence digital image line.

The dresses will be paper pieced with green, orange, pink or yellow gingham card stock. A dew drop has been adhered to the cupcake cherry for additional dimension. The image is colored with Copic Markers and mounted on a coordinating color of card stock. It's been a fun project. I hope my sister likes them! Of course, she asked me to send her the "bill" when I'm finished! Ha!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! Upload your current project HERE and you might have a chance at winning a free Sassy Chery digital image.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #60 - Sassy Sketch

This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge blog is a sketch. I think sketch challenges are my favorite! For me, when I have the sketch everything else seems to just fall into place.

And this is what I came up with using Dawn's sketch. I couldn't resist using one of Cheryl's new images "A Mother's Day Heart" for a card which will probably be for Mother's Day. I think she's so sweet! For this card, I decided to paper piece the dress, bows and heart with October Afternoon dp. The background is also from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper stack. The card base is Stampin' Up! Kraft and Ruby Red. I've added a bow of red tulle with a Stampin' Up button tied on with baker's twine. Such a fun card to put together!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #21

It's another week of sharing over on the Sassy Cheryl Blog. Each Thursday Cheryl challenges participants to show what projects we are currently working on. It doesn't have to be stamping (or even Sassy Cheryl) projects! Then she draws a random winner from all of the entries to receive a FREE Sassy Cheryl digital image. Woo-Hoo!

Well, my project this week has been on my "to-do" list for some time now. I know many of you are pros at merging digital images. I finally came across a really easy tutorial over on Debbie P's Place using Paint.Net. So, I printed out the tutorial and downloaded the free program then went to work.

Below is one of my experiments. I'm still not a "Pro" at this, but I think it has opened up a lot of fun possibilities with digital creations.

I have included the final project from my first attempt at merging below. I used a free digital garden gate image with this sweet little boy and wagon from Cora over at her Digital Two for Tuesday blog. If you like vintage images you should take a peek at what she lovingly restores and provides on her blog each week. It's amazing!

That's all for me this week! Maybe you've learned something along with me. Thanks for stopping by and taking a peek.

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #78

This week's challenge over on Mo's Digital Blog is "The Start of Something NEW!". I immediately thought of this sweet "You're Kinda Cute" image by Mo. It seems as though a new friendship might be developing here! The image was colored using Prismapencils, baby oil and Copic Markers. I added a couple of hearts which were cut from sticky backed felt with Spellbinders nestibilities. I added a couple of decorative straight pins to the hearts. The "Hello" sentiment is CTMH and stamped on cork.

I just have to mention that this is my very first outdoor photo of the year! Yipee! It's so great to take these photos outdoors with natural light. The snow in our part of the country is still around, but things are starting to look like Spring!

Sassy Chery's Color Me Challenge #19

For this week's Color Me challenge Cheryl offered two versions of this sweet Birthday image. I chose to color the Sneaky Bear Birthday Cupcake. He is so adorable! I used Prismacolor and Koh-I-Noor pencils, baby oil and Copic Markers to color the image. Stickles were applied to the candles, sprinkles and party hat. I don't usually make the easel card design, but thought he would be cute popped up for a Birthday Surprise!

If you're a fan of the Sassy Cheryl images be sure to check out her current 20% off sale!! It may be time to stock up!!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #20

It's Thursday again and that means another week of Show Me over on Sassy Cheryl's Blog. It's a fun and easy way to enter and possibly win a free Sassy Chery digi. All you have to do is share your current project -- whether it's crafty, baking or even gardening! Cheryl and all of the Sassy Girls want to see what is going on. (including me!) I've already picked up some great tips over the past few weeks.

This week I put into practice one of the main tips I've picked up. Several of the sassy girls have shown a work space filled with colored images. Well, I've always been kind of a one-image-at-a-time kinda gal. BUT last night I printed and colored three images! Baby steps, right? Well, I was pretty proud of myself and I thought "Wow, could I make three cards with the three images in one night?" Well, that remains to be seen.......

If you look closely, you will see my recent winnings from Sandy Redburn, owner of Crafty Secrets! I love the quality and detail of her vintage clear art stamp sets. I recently entered a blog contest over on MoxieFab sponsored by Crafty Secrets.... this was the super terrific prize package!! Behind the stamp sets you can also see my most recent Crafty Secrets challenge card.

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #77

This week's challenge over on Mo's Digital Challenge Blog is "How Does Your Garden Grow?" The challenge gave me an excuse to treat myself to a little shopping at Mo's. I've been wanting this adorable little image (My Friend) for quite awhile. I just think she's so sweet peeking under the gate at this sweet little pup peeking back!

The image has been colored with Copic Markers. Spellbinders Labels Two was used to cut both panels. I'm totally in love with the MFT Die-namics and the sun goes with everything! I added a vintage button and baker's twine to give some dimension. The sentiment "I Wish I Could See You" is also from MFT's Pure Innocence line "Peek a Boo". Finally, the image has been layered onto papers from the Basic Grey Hello Luscious paper pack.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look! There is still a lot of cold in my area of the country. Creating this little Spring garden scene helps to chase away the Winter Blues!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #59 - Think Spring

This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Challenge Blog is Spring. I purchased Cheryl's new image "A Mother's Day Heart" hoping to play in the Color Me challenge as well. However, I wasn't feeling very good over the weekend and didn't get into my stamping room to create. I couldn't resist coloring her for this week's "Think Spring" theme.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look. Oh, I did want to mention that I used Alene's Paper Glaze on the heart. (It may not show in the photo)

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #19

It's another week of Show Me over on Sassy Cheryl's blog. If you haven't played along here's the deets straight from Cheryl:
It can be your 'project' of the week. It doesn't matter what it is. We've had people post pictures of cooking/cake baking, organizing, scrapbooking. Skies the limit! We just want to see. I mean, there are some REALLY nosey people who visit my blog. hee hee. And yes, I'm included. You'll have until 5 PM, Wednesday, April 13th. to enter for a chance for the FREE image.
How easy AND fun is that?

The projects at my house this week are Spring related! I started with creating the card below for this week's Crafty Secrets challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers website. Our challenge was to create something which represents "Why I Love Spring". The sentiment is the focus of the card and perfectly describes my love of Spring!

So, this is my current family project. As the daylight returns and the temperatures warm up it's time to begin the starter plants for our annual garden. The first photo shows a couple of blossoms on a zucchini starter plant. How exciting!

The second photo shows a variety of starter plants including tomatoes and jalapeno peppers.
Although Alaska reaches 24 hours of daylight by June, our growing season is actually quite short. Generally, our garden is not planted until the end of May and some crops are not harvested until right before the first frost in mid to late September. (Some crops such as tomatoes are brought indoors to finish maturing) Being a midwest gal, this is all kind of experimental. My husband and I try different techniques each year to try and achieve the best possible garden. And is it worth it during harvest time!!

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #76

Pat is our hostess again over on Mo's Digital Challenge Blog, and this week's theme is Buttons 'n Bows. I decided that Mo's "Bella Carrying the Cake" was a perfect image for this week's challenge. With all of the nasty winter colors in my area, I have been using bright and cheery colors on my projects!! This one is no exception. I love coloring Bella a little wildly with oranges, yellows, green and pink. Opps, naughty Bronte decided to sit on Bella's trailing bow. I decided that he needed to be "outside" the box in the creation.

I rarely have a chance to finish the inside of my card when I'm creating. I generally leave them blank so that I can personalize it at the time I sent it out. However, I thought this sentiment from Inkadinkado would be perfect. This is from the "Kid's Quotes" clear stamp set. I picked this up at my local Joanne's store last month. I'm really enjoying it!

Fun challenge this week! Thanks for stopping by and taking a look.

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #56 - Sassy & Sketchy!

For this week's challenge over on Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Blog, Tracy has provided the following sketch:

This is what I came up with for this week's sketch using "A VERY Sassy Opinion" to make a birthday card. This card came together pretty easily using Basic Grey Lime Rickey Paper Pad, Stampin' Up! Pumpkin Pie and Regal Rose cardstock. I really like this color combination which is very unusual for me!

I finished by using Spellbinder circle and circle scallop die cuts for the main image and sentiment. The image was colored with Copic Markers and sponged with Memento Tangelo ink. The flowers were a clearance item at Michael's this weekend! Woo-Hoo!

Thanks for stopping by!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #18

Welcome to another week's of Sassy Cheryl's Show Me challenge. It's a fun AND easy way to get into Cheryl's weekly drawing for a free Sassy Cheryl Digital image. All you have to do is post a picture showing us what you are currently working on! Wow!

Tonight I have a couple of projects on my workspace. Of course, I have colored a Sassy Cheryl image "Sassy Opinion" for this week's challenge. It's a work in progress! I also have a frame and printed canvas ready to assemble. I follow Julia Stainton's blog and she posted this adorable project a couple of week's ago. She has even provided the file to print out on the sticky back canvas. Be sure to check it out!

You can also see my stack of flower packs on the edge of my work space. I really hit the jackpot at Michael's yesterday and found these on the clearance rack for $1.99. I don't have a large variety of pre-made flowers so this will be very handy!

Hope you all have a good week! I'm off to finish my Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog project! We are using a fun sketch this week. Check it out!
Thanks for stopping by tonight.
