Sassy Cheryl Show Me #123

Since Summer is busy for everyone, Cheryl has opened up the Show Me challenge for two weeks.  That means everyone has two weeks to share what's going on with a chance to win a free Sassy Cheryl Digi.  Woo-Hoo!

We are experiencing very unusually warm temperatures in Alaska.  The day that I took this photo on my iPhone, Anchorage was the same temperature as Maui.  Unbelievable!  So, my post is short tonight as I need to go out and soak in some Vitamin D for the day!

I am also including a collage of images that I colored while on our camping trip this weekend.  I love being able to sit outside with my Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils to color in the sunlight.  So much fun!  So, watch out for some of these cuties to be posted in the coming weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #169 and Show Me

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!  It is an unseasonal 77 degrees in Anchorage today.

This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is "Perfectly Pinkalicious".  I had this image printed and on my craft desk ready to be colored and this was the perfect challenge.  I always envision her big bubble as pink!  Probably from my childhood days of chewing lots of pink bubblegum.

Here's what I came up with using a past freebie called "Bubble Blower":

This sweet image was colored with Copic Markers and highlighted with prismacolor pencils.  The shading was done with General's charcoal pencil.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but glossy accents has been added to the bubble gum.  I have used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I thought it worked perfectly to carry out the bubble theme.  The sentiment is from a digital stamp set called "Playing with Bubbles" by Paulette at Create With TLC.

I am also sharing this project with the ladies over on Cheryl's Show Me Challenge blog.  We would love for you to join in the fun.  It's super easy and you might be the lucky winner of a Sassy Cheryl Digi image!!

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look.  Have a fabulous evening!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #161 - Anything Goes!

Where has the week gone?!  I am running so late with my challenge card.  This idea has been rolling around in my brain for a few days.  I finally got around to putting it all on paper today!  Yikes!

Jackie's is our hostess this week on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge blog.  She has set the theme as "Anything Goes".  Which worked out perfectly for my little scene!

I was lucky enough to win one of Cheryl's images over on the "Show Me" challenge blog.  I chose the sweet new Sassy Sally image Quiet Inspiration.  Here's the card that I came up with:

The image was colored with Copic Markers, fussy cut and layered on an embossed vellum sky and die cut grass.  The cloud sentiment was created in Word.  The bottom sentiment is from Create with TLC.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I hope you have a fabulous week.

Sassy Cheryl's sketch Challenge

Can I share a secret with you?  I am a sketch challenge addict!  Almost every card that I create starts with a sketch in mind.  So, when I saw the fun sketch that Judy provided for this week's Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge, the creative juices started flowing.

I have had this image on my workdesk for a couple of weeks.  So, this week I used Sam's Rainy Day for my project:

I am including a close up of Sam and her paper pieced umbrella.  This is one of my current color combinations.  I have used various designer papers from My Mind's Eye Reunion paper pad.  Sam was colored with Copic Markers and shaded with General's charcoal pencil and blended.  The background was sponged with Memento ink.  This digital image has been retired, but due to overwhelming request, Cheryl is bringing back some of the retired images in sets.  You can find Sam in a set HERE.

I am also submitting this for Cheryl's Show Me Challenge which is running for two weeks again.  It's super easy and you might be the lucky winner of a Sassy Cheryl Digital Image!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge - Favorite Color Combo

This week Sassy Cathy has asked us to use our favorite color combo over on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge Blog.  Well, my current favorite has been Primary colors - blue, green, orange and yellow!

Here's what I created using the new Sassy Sally Pondering Thoughts:

The sun die and sentiment are from Lil' Inkers Designs.  The sky was created using the Stampin' Up! Cloud die by Sizzix and blue vellum.  The gingham papers are from Memory Box.

Cheryl's "Show Me" challenge is running for two weeks this go around.  Don't forget to stop by and link up whatever is going on in your corner of the world!  If you haven't gotten a chance to share in awhile, it's easy and you might win a FREE Sassy Cheryl digital image.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #117

I can't believe that I'm posting on the first day of this week's Sassy Cheryl Show Me Challenge!  If you haven't played along before just grab your camera and share a photo(s) of what you have been doing this week.  It's super each AND you might win on of Cheryl's fabulous digital images.

So, I am sharing a photo card set that I made this weekend as a Birthday gift for my Mom.  She has a fantastic "green thumb" and grows beautiful flowers of all kinds.  During my visit last Fall, there was a fluke second blooming of her rose garden and I took tons of photos.  I have never created photo cards before, but thought the roses would be perfect!

Below is a photo of the card set:

I layered all of the photos on card stock that brought out the colors of the rose.  I kept the card base simple with a swissdot emboss so as not to distract from the photo.  I included a variety of sentiments for various occasions.

I loved how this rose photo turned out and the colors are simply gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I hope you are having a creative week and maybe their are signs of Spring in your area of the country.

Birdie Brown and Sassy Cheryl Show Me

This card uses the January Freebie from Birdie Brown.  I had so much fun coloring this little image.  Check out the FREEBIE and give it a try.  You have until January 31 to link up your creation.

I colored the "Amigurumi Bear" image with Prismacolor pencils and Copic Markers.  The designer papers are from Basic Grey Bittersweet.  The adorable sentiment is from Create with TLC.

I am also sharing a couple of photos with my Sassy Cheryl friends from our skiing adventure yesterday.

Of course, you can see that the "girl-dog" had to get into one of the photos.  The second is of the treeline and the sun beginning to set. Our boy-dog, Bud, had a little incident two weekends ago and cut his leg open.  We spent some "quality" time at Pet Emergency getting stitches and antibiotic.  Needless to say, he has been quarantined to the house until the stitches are removed and he is healed.  Never a dull moment at our house with these two!!  Hope you all are having a fabulous week!

Sassy Cheryl's Digi Challenge #144

This week's Sassy Cheryl Digi Stamps Challenge is "Dreaming of a White Christmas".

I decided to play with my Cricut this afternoon and cut various snowflakes from their Winter Lace cartridge.  I applied Stampin' Up!  Heat & Stick powder to the snowflakes, applied heat with my heat gun until they were sticky, then sprinkled on Stampin' Up! Stampin' Glitter.

Below are a couple of photos showing the the snowflakes:

The snowflakes were applied to a white embossed panel and die cut with Spellbinder Labels 17 to get the panel in my finished card.  I printed Cheryl's "Simple Snowman Block" digital image and colored it with Copic Markers.  I applied Polar White Flower Soft to the birdhouse and carrot nose.  You can pick up this sweet winter image for .50 right now in Cheryl's Shop.

Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look!  This is also my submission for this week's "Show Me" Challenge on Cheryl's "Show Me Thursday Blog".

Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge and Show Me

This week over on the Sassy Cheryl Digi Stamps Challenge Blog, Sassy Jackie has challenged us to use the following sketch with our Sassy Cheryl digital images.  I love a good sketch!

Since I am also sharing with Cheryl's "Show Me" challenge this week I took a "before" photo as this card was in progress.  I had so much fun coloring this new winter image called "Smooth Sailing" with my favorite Sassy Sally image.  Cheryl is offering this image for $2.00 until Sunday, December 2 at 5pm EST.

This card definitely took on a life of its own today!  The finished card is 5.5 inches square.  I also substituted the right thin panel with a Memory Box tree die.  Does anyone else ever start with one idea in mind and then end up with a totally different finished project?!  That was me today!

Of course, Sassy Sally was colored with Copic markers.  I applied a little liquid applique to Sally's hat.  The sky and snow were sponged with Memento inks and die cut with Spellbinder rectangle dies. The designer paper panel is from Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses paper stack.

Thanks for stopping over to take a closer look!  This card and post are for the following challenges:

CYDI? Challenge 22 - Favorite Animal

Welcome to this week's Can You Digi It? challenge.  This week we are challenging you to create with your favorite animal.  The design team has outdone themselves this week and we have a zoo full of inspiration that you can check out HERE.

I used "Duck Silhouettes" from AnnieJDesigns for this clean and simple card:

I have combined the image with a perfect sentiment from Create With TLC.  This could be either a masculine or feminine birthday card.

I hope you are inspired and get a chance to play along.  The challenge is open until November 19 with a random winner receiving a $10 gift certificate to the CYDI? shop.

This is also for Sassy Cheryl's Show Me challenge.

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #98

I'm back again to share with Sassy Cheryl and all of the "Sassettes".   I was the lucky winner last week and picked up one of the new Sassy Cheryl digital images.  You could be the lucky winner this week by just sharing a post of what's going on in your area of the world.  Check out the details HERE.

This week I'm sharing a few photos from my recent trip to visit with family.  We drove down to Bentonville, AR to the new Crystal Bridges Museum.  The museum is sponsored by Wal-mart and contains lots of fabulous artwork.  Below are a couple of my favorites:

Nick Cave Sound Suit 2010

There were also galleries full of traditional/classical art.  I took these photos in the Contemporary gallery.  It was a fun experience and the architecture of the museum was amazing.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a closer look!  Hope you are having a fabulous and creative week!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Challenge #92

***If you are looking for the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog Hop and September digi Release you can scroll down or click HERE

It's time for another "Show Me" with Sassy Cheryl and all of the ladies.  It's a fun way to see what's going on and possibly win a free Sassy Cheryl image!

Well, I guess the first day of Fall was actually yesterday.  I didn't have my camera along yesterday, but got a few shots of the Fall colors on our walk today.  These were taken at one of the Anchorage area dog parks.  Of course, our labs love this park because of the huge lake!  They would swim all day if we let them.

The University Lake dog park

Bud (11 years old) and Gingersnap (2 years old)

Unfortunately, the beautiful Fall colors don't usually last long in Alaska.  We generally get lots of heavy rain and winds which blow the leaves away very early.  Then the s-n-o-w (four letter word) will follow!

Have a great week where ever you may be on this first official weekend of Fall!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #131 - Got the Blues?

This week's challenge theme on the Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge blog is to use the color blue.  I had this sweet new "Cowboy Sally" image on my desk and thought it would be perfect for the challenge.

Here's what I came up with:

The image was colored with Copic Markers and blended Prismacolor pencils.  Such a fun image!  The sentiment is from an a-muse set called "Yee Haw".  The designer papers are from Chatterbox.  A machine stitched border, twine and star brads are the finishing pieces.

I have been without internet for two days so I'm playing catch up with all of my posts!!  We had a wind storm on Tuesday night with 131 MPH winds and rain.  My power went out at about 11:00 pm and I was very fortunate to have it returned by 8:00 am the next morning.  Thousands in the Anchorage area are still without power.  Luckily, our temperatures have stayed warm -- in the 50s.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #85

We've had lots of visitors this summer.  Last week's Show Me post got by while we were enjoying the short summer in Alaska!

I'm back this week to share a few photos with my family and our trip to Portage Glacier in the Chugach National Forest south of Anchorage.  We hiked about 1 mile from the road back to a glacier.

Me and my Grandma!  She's 86 years old and led the hike to the glacier!

Me and DH with my aunt and cousins.

Glacier cave.  Really neat!

The glacier and river run off.
So, what's going on in your neck of the woods?!  Snap a picture and let us sneak a peek.  Oh, and don't forget to link your post over on Cheryl's blog for a chance to win one of her Fabulously Sassy digis.

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a great week!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #82

Cheryl hosts a fun challenge each week that she calls "Show Me".  It's so easy to play along!  Just post a photo (or photos) of what is going on in your area of the world.  Each Thursday she randomly selects a post who can win a FREE Sassy Cheryl digital image.  Fun!

I decided to share a couple of photos from my July 4th weekend trip to Fairbanks, Alaska.  We met my in-laws along the way and drove the 6 plus hours from Anchorage to Fairbanks via the Richardson Highway.  Of course, the pups went along and we pulled the trailer so we could camp.

Our first day we all boarded the Riverboat Discovery for a trip down the Chena River.  Below are a couple of photos from the stops along the way.

We also drove about 60 miles out of Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs.  We enjoyed the hot springs but also took a tour through their ice museum.  It stays 20 degrees inside year round!

We had lots of fun and the scenery was fabulous!  The weather in Fairbanks was sunny and 70 degrees while we were there.  It was nice to get away from rain and 50 degrees in Anchorage!!

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share our weekend trip!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #81

Welcome to another week of "Show Me" with Sassy Cheryl!  I can't believe that I won TWO weeks in a row.  I can't wait to drop by the store and pick up a couple of the new Sassy Sally images!

Well, with Independence Day in the middle of our work week so Cheryl has given us two weeks to post our goodies.

DH and I packed up the trailer, 4-wheelers and pups on Friday night and headed about 140 miles north of Anchorage for the weekend.  It's one of our favorite spots to take the 4-wheelers.  We had hoped to spot a few caribou, but the weather had other plans.  This is the stomping ground for the Nelchina Caribou herd.  Unfortunately, it started raining after we had only gotten about 8 miles out.  DH said we may as well turn around because the herd will just lay down in the scrub brush until it passes.

View snowcapped Mtns and glacier from the Eureka trail.

Ginger after a local bird - not sure what species
They have gotten a lot of rain in that area and the trails were VERY wet.  You can see lots of standing water on the trail in the photo above.  Of course, I only get my photo taken at the least "Fashionable" times....

The water was up to the seat on my Eiger in a few spots.  It looks like I'm riding through a river, but it's actually just flooded trails!

Even though it was rainy we enjoyed a couple of days away from work and enjoying the Alaska scenery.  Thanks for stopping by tonight!  Hope you have a great week and a Great July 4th!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #76

I thought I would share another "progress report" on my craft room facelift.  Hubby & I are knee deep in Spring cleaning around our house.  This week he put up two wall shelves.  I LOVE them!  The first night they were full and he asks "Should I put up a third shelf?"  As you can see, I'm obviously still cleaning and sorting.  If you missed last week's post, you can see my "Before" picture HERE.

All of this cleaning is tough work and makes little Gingersnap tired!  Hope you get a chance to share with the Sassy Cheryl ladies this week.  It's easy AND you might win a Sassy Cheryl digital image!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #75

This week has flown by and I wanted to share with the Sassy Cheryl gang what has been going on at my house this past week!  We aren't REALLY under construction, but doing a lot of cleaning and facelifts.
Here's a before photo of my crafting room

Here's the "in progress" photo of my crafting room.

My DH has been going through the entire house (except the kitchen which is wallpaper) and painting!  What a guy!  He left this room until the end since I'm wanting to have some additional work done in here.  He's also going to replace the door and trim.  I've even bought new sheers for the window.  So far, I'm not finding the curtains that I want to put in this room.  Okay, if I HAVE TO, I will pull out my sewing machine and actually use it to make curtains.  But ONLY as a last resort!! :)

Together DH and I chose a cheery yellow for the bedrooms.  We both really like it so far.  He's been a really good sport about it all.  I guess I better come up with a super nice "Thank You" for all of his hard work, huh?

Be sure you stop by Cheryl's blog and check out what's been going on this week.  Why not take a quick photo and share with us as well.  You just might win a free Sassy Cheryl image!

Show Me #74 - Works in Progress

This is my crafting desk tonight.  Thought I would share my works in progress with the Sassy Cheryl Show Me followers this week.  I also have a few "goodies" from Hobby Lobby that I picked up during my recent trip to visit family.  It's a bummer, but we don't have a Hobby Lobby in Anchorage!!

The floral card has been completed and submitted for a challenge on StampTV.  Here's the link if you would like to check it out!

Hope you all have a creative weekend!  I will probably be cleaning the house and trying to fit in some crafting time.  The weekend goes by SO fast!

Sassy Cheryl #110 - Anything Goes

This week Sassy Peggy set the theme for the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge as "Anything Goes". I bought the Memory Box Madison Window die and flower box a few weeks ago. I thought it would make an adorable scene with the Sassy Cheryl image "Just a Little Hello".
The image was colored with Copic Markers. The "house" was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The flowers, window and flower box are all from Memory Box. The "curtains" were made with Spellbinder Scallop Circle nestibilities.

I am also submitting the post to Cheryl's "Show Me" challenge for this week. I have another fun vintage ad to share. I'm not sure where I got this one, but thought it might be cute for a vintage Mother's Day card.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Hope you have a creative week.
