Miz Ann is our hostess this week for the Sassy Cheryl Challenge. She has chosen a very appropriate theme - "Summer". I have several favorite summer images from Sassy Cheryl, but ultimately I colored up this fun image of Sally & her sidekick Bella.
I'm not sure whether Sally & Bella are peeking out to say hello or to see if there's something scarey outside the tent flap!!
This image is called "Sassy Sally and Bella Go Camping". The sentiment is from a digital set by Create with TLC called "Shellebrate Summer". I was out of town and unable to play along with the recent step card challenge. I thought a center step card would work perfectly with this image. This is my very first attempt at a center step card. I found an easy step-by-step tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers by the fabulously talented Frances Byrne. You can find the tutorial HERE.
Here's a little close up of the colored image. I have used various Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils and a charcoal pencil to shade. Of course, the digital image was fussy cut and layered on the "night sky" background paper with dimension tape. The binoculars are from a Cricut Cartridge - Camping Out. And a little ladybug brad to finish off!
The summer weather in Anchorage is holding (so far)! DH is packing up the camper and we are headed out for a weekend of outdoor fun. We don't sleep in a tent like Sally & Bella anymore, but we do enjoy being out in the camper and enjoying the nice weather.
Hope you have a great weekend! Thanks for stopping by. I always enjoy reading your sweet comments!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #122
Sorry I've been MIA for several days. I have been away from my "crafting cave" visiting family out of state. I had a really good time and got a chance to do some crafty shopping. My all time favorite place to shop is Hobby Lobby. This trip was really super big as I hit a 50% off sale! Wow!
I thought I'd share some of my goodies with you for this week's Show Me challenge:
I can't wait to play with the goodies! I hope you are having a creative week. Why don't you play along with the "Sassy" ladies this week? It's really easy and we enjoy stopping by to see what you have going on. You can find the details on Cheryl's blog HERE.
Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #93
I'm posting quickly before work this morning to share with the Sassy Cheryl "Show me" challenge. The week has gotten away from me and today is the deadline for the fun!!
As many of you know, the 3rd annual Hope You Can Cling To challenges began on Splitcoast Stampers Monday morning. It's a month long challenge with all of the projects/cards going to the MD Anderson Cancer center in Texas. The donated cards are made available to patients and their families. Check the details HERE and maybe you'll have a chance to play along this month!
So, this morning I am sharing a couple of the cards I have created so far this week. You may also see a glimpse of a new goodie I got in the mail last night. I was the lucky winner of a recent challenge on "There She Goes" blog!! I can't wait to ink up these cute little critters!
Thanks for stopping in for a closer look! Hope you're having a great week!

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me Challenge #92
***If you are looking for the Sweet 'n Sassy Blog Hop and September digi Release you can scroll down or click HERE
It's time for another "Show Me" with Sassy Cheryl and all of the ladies. It's a fun way to see what's going on and possibly win a free Sassy Cheryl image!
Well, I guess the first day of Fall was actually yesterday. I didn't have my camera along yesterday, but got a few shots of the Fall colors on our walk today. These were taken at one of the Anchorage area dog parks. Of course, our labs love this park because of the huge lake! They would swim all day if we let them.
The University Lake dog park |
Bud (11 years old) and Gingersnap (2 years old) |
Unfortunately, the beautiful Fall colors don't usually last long in Alaska. We generally get lots of heavy rain and winds which blow the leaves away very early. Then the s-n-o-w (four letter word) will follow!
Have a great week where ever you may be on this first official weekend of Fall!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #132 - A Sketch!
I'm back with another post tonight! I think I may be skimming in with my challenge post this week.
This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is a sketch. I love a good sketch and this one is no exception:
I used Cheryl's "Sally's Letter" digital image for my card. The image was colored with Copic Markers and layered with papers from Jellibean Soup Blossom Soup. The finished card size is 5.5 square.
Hope you have a great (and creative) week!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #131 - Got the Blues?
This week's challenge theme on the Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge blog is to use the color blue. I had this sweet new "Cowboy Sally" image on my desk and thought it would be perfect for the challenge.
Here's what I came up with:
The image was colored with Copic Markers and blended Prismacolor pencils. Such a fun image! The sentiment is from an a-muse set called "Yee Haw". The designer papers are from Chatterbox. A machine stitched border, twine and star brads are the finishing pieces.
I have been without internet for two days so I'm playing catch up with all of my posts!! We had a wind storm on Tuesday night with 131 MPH winds and rain. My power went out at about 11:00 pm and I was very fortunate to have it returned by 8:00 am the next morning. Thousands in the Anchorage area are still without power. Luckily, our temperatures have stayed warm -- in the 50s.
Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #129 - Happy Birthday
I'm running a little late this week with my Sassy Cheryl Challenge card. This week's challenge is to create a Birthday themed project. Who doesn't need an extra birthday card in their stash?!
I combined Cheryl's "Sassy Sally Triple Layer Cake" image with this fun word art from TLC. I colored with Copic Markers and cut it out with Spellbinder dies for a quick birthday card!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #128 - Favorite Color Combo
It's time again for another Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge and this week we are asked to use our Favorite Color Combo. My favorite combo this summer has been green, orange and yellow. After such a long, dreary Alaskan winter these colors have seemed so bright and cheerful!
Here's what I came up with using "Bella's Flower" from Sassy Cheryl:
Bella was colored with Copic Markers. The designer papers are from Basic Grey's Indie Bloom paper pad. The sentiment is a digital from the Sentiments 4 You blog. Machine Stitching and dewdrops finish the card.
This card also qualifies for this week's DYSU challenge - Four legged friends.
Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look! I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #127 - All About the Boys!
This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is "All about the Boys!". I had this sweet Noah and patches image on my desk ready to color. I don't have any young boys in my family, but I'm sure that someone will enjoy this sweet little card.
The image was colored with Copic Markers and paired with Basic Grey Oxford designer papers. I used this week's sketch provided by Korin over on the Splitcoast challenge forum.
This also qualifies for this week's Sweet 'n Sassy Digi Challenge "Beary Special". We were asked to use a digital bear image with our project for this week.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #124
A really quick post tonight with this sweet digital image from Sassy Cheryl called "Sassy Sally's Bluebird". This week's Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamp challenge was fancy borders. I hope the machine stitching and Wonky Spellbinder nestibilities makes a "fancy" border.
I colored the digital image with Copic Markers and sponged the edges. Of course, machine stitching was added to the border of the card and the base panel. The papers just arrived in the mail are from the Cosmo Cricket mini deck "Baby Jane". I recently found these little lady bug brads at my LSS and knew they would be perfect with Cheryl's images.
This also qualifies for the following:
Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #83
Kraftin' Kimmie - Stitching real or faux #138
Crazy 4 Challenges - Stitching real or faux - C4C146
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Have a great week.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #123 - Summer Fun!
Another quick post tonight while my Mojo is flowing!
This week's Sassy Cheryl Digital Challenge is hosted by Sassy Cathy with Summer Fun! What could be more fun than a day at the beach with Bella and Sassy Sally! I knew I had to have this adorable image when it first hit Cheryl's store. You can find "Sassy Sally and Bella headed to the Beach" in Cheryl's shop.
Here's what I came up with for this week's challenge:
The image was colored with Copic Markers. The background was sponged with Memento Danube blue ink and a scalloped die. The designer paper is from Basic Grey Lime Rickey paper pad. Machine stitching and dry embossing were added. The MFT die-namics sun die cut and baker's twine finish the card. Of course, the sentiment is a freebie from Paulette over on Create with TLC.
Finally, the card was created using this week's Card Positioning Sketch. A really basic sketch that is very versatile.

Sassy Cheryl #122 - Anything Goes
Cathy is our hostess this week over on the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog and she has led the theme with "Anything Goes". I had "Bella's Flower" colored and on my desk ready to go!
Here's what I came up with:
Bella was colored with Prismacolor pencils, blending stumps and baby oil. I've had a few comments about my use of baby oil instead of Gamsol. I have tried several alternative options to Gamsol since it's difficult to find in my area. Baby oil gives the same blending ability, it's easier to find, cheaper and smells good!
The image was layered with designer papers from the Basic Grey "Life of the Party" paper stack. The sentiment is from Paper Smooches and has been embossed with CTMH detailed embossing powder (my favorite). A machine stitched border then a GKD ribbon and two paw brads completes the card. The final size is 6 inches square. The sketch is from this week's Splitcoast Stampers sketch challenge.
This also qualifies for this week's Tuesday Alchemy challenge #21 "Anything Goes".
Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look! I always enjoy reading your comments. Have a fun and safe Independence Day!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #121 - Summertime
Well, while most of the US is experiencing an extra hot summer Alaska is rainy and cool. We did get a few gorgeous days last week and I took full advantage!
So, what a perfect theme that Sassy Dawn has given us this week over on the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog - Summertime. Be sure to pop over and check out all of the great inspiration that the Design Team has provided this week!
Here's what I came up with using Cheryl's "You are my Sunshine" image.
This sweet image was colored with Copic Markers. Just for Cheryl - If you look closely you'll see that I added polka dots to Sally's dress with dimension paint! I also added a little sparkle with Stickles to the flouncy skirt. This image also includes a sweet sentiment. However, I added this sentiment from Paulette's new set "One Moment Can". You can find it over on the Create With TLC blog.
Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look! I hope you are having a fabulous Summer Tuesday wherever you might be today.

Exciting News and Sassy Cheryl Challenge
Hi! I'm back tonight with some exciting news, Paulette at Create with TLC has asked me to join her Design Team! Woo-Hoo! I can't tell you how excited I am to join this team!
If you haven't visited Paulette's store you have to check it out HERE. She provides quality word art and tons of digital images.
Okay, on to the rest of my post! This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is provided by Peggy and she has asked us to use "Red, White and Blue" with our Sassy Cheryl image.
Lucky me, I won last week's Show Me challenge over on Cheryl's Blog! Of course, I had to shop right away and picked up "Sassy Sally in her Inner Tube". I decided this was the perfect image to use for this week's challenge with our recent warm Alaska summer days!
The main image was colored with Copic markers and the inner tube was paper pieced with paper from Jellibean Soup. The base designer paper and "sun" used papers from the new Basic Grey PB&J paper pack. The sun was made using a die cut from My Favorite Things. The sentiment is from Create With TLC.
Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look and letting me share my exciting news! Hope you have a great weekend. DH and I spent the day at the lake. I baby sat the pups while he enjoyed the trout fishing. It was a gorgeous, sunny, warm day in Alaska! These days are few and precious for us.

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #79
Cheryl is taking some much deserved family time for a couple of weeks. That gave us two week's to make our posts. It's easy to play along. Just snap a couple of photos of what you have going on in your area of the world. It doesn't have to be crafty.
DH and I needed a much needed rest this weekend. So, we packed up the camper, 4-wheelers and dogs and drove north a little ways to one of our favorite camping spots.
We rode about 7 miles up to a small lake where DH did some trout fishing in his new, fancy raft. Of course, he had some help......
We came back to camp with three small trout which were perfect for my dinner. DH loves to fish, but doesn't eat fish! Aren't I lucky?! :0
Be sure and check the Sassy Cheryl Blog for all of the players. Lots of crafty, busy gals are posting so you never know what you'll find!

Sweet 'n Sassy
Happy Saturday! I hope everyone is having a great weekend. It was a beautiful, sunny day here in Anchorage. I actually hung out my laundry and washed a couple of windows.
Of course, tonight I am in my craft room playing! This sweet Thank You card uses the Sweet 'n Sassy digital image "Bluebird". I had so much fun coloring and assembling this card! I really wanted the "cool colors" to pop on the white base. All of the embossing was done with Cuttlebug and Sizzix emboss folders. A couple of prima flowers were added with Stampin' Up! rhinestones in the center. The digital image was colored with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil. Stickles were added to the flower centers of the image. The sentiment is from an older Close to My Heart set "For Every Occasion". I am using this week's My Favorite Things Sketch as well.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #117 - It's a Sketch
This week's Sassy Cheryl challenge is to use the sketch provided with our Sassy Cheryl images. Sketch challenges are my favorite! For some reason, I seem to create better when starting with a sketch.
Any-who this is what I came up with using one of Cheryl's retiring images called "Patriots Remembered Girl". Luckily, I grabbed her from the bargain bin this week. I don't have very many patriotic themed images and this one is a perfect addition to my collection!
Lots of red, white and blue stars and stripes with this design! I really had a lot of fun putting this together since this isn't a very much used color combo.
The image was colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils with baby oil. The card based is a retired Brilliant Blue from Stampin' Up! and the designer paper came from an older DCWV adhesive paper pack. The white circle was dry embossed with a new embossing folder by the Paper Studio that I picked up at Hobby Lobby on a recent trip out of state. The foam stars are very sparkly in real life and really add to the design.

Sassy Cheryl #115 - Anything But Square
Sassy Pat has challenged us this week to create a card that is anything but square. Of course, I had a couple of ideas rolling around, but this rectangle 6.5 by 3.5 card is what I came up with. I already had "Crabby Surprise" colored so I did a little altering and this is the finished card.
The image was colored with Copic Markers. Lucky for you, this image is still available and on sale for $2.00 right now. Check is out HERE before it's gone.
The sun was created using an MFT die-namics, felt and fun foam. A couple of dew drops were added for dimension. A machine stitching border was added for the base and the crab was cut out and popped up. The base designer paper is from the Echo Park Splash paper pack.

Sassy Cheryl #113 - May Flowers
This week's challenge theme is May Flowers over on the Sassy Cheryl Digi Stamp Challenge Blog. This is what I came up with using Cheryl's retired image "Hanging Out to Dry".
The teddy bear was colored with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil. The remainder was colored with Copic Markers and the clouds were sponged with chalk.
Thanks for stopping by to take a closer look!

Sassy Cheryl #110 - Anything Goes
This week Sassy Peggy set the theme for the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge as "Anything Goes". I bought the Memory Box Madison Window die and flower box a few weeks ago. I thought it would make an adorable scene with the Sassy Cheryl image "Just a Little Hello".
The image was colored with Copic Markers. The "house" was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug folder. The flowers, window and flower box are all from Memory Box. The "curtains" were made with Spellbinder Scallop Circle nestibilities.
I am also submitting the post to Cheryl's "Show Me" challenge for this week. I have another fun vintage ad to share. I'm not sure where I got this one, but thought it might be cute for a vintage Mother's Day card.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Hope you have a creative week.
