Create A Smile Guest Designer and March Sketch Challenge

I was so excited to be selected as a featured artist at Create a Smile for my February sketch challenge card!  You can see that card posted HERE. Even more exciting was their invitation to be a Guest Designer for the current sketch challenge!

My slimline version of the sketch features the adorable Crazy Chick clear set.  The images were stamped then clear embossed, colored with Copic Markers and fussy cut.  Papers are from my stash of October Afternoon paper kits.

A few enamel dots and sentiment using my "old school" label maker finish the card.

I would like to share my card with the following:

Di's Digi Challenge - Pretty in Pastel

There's a new challenge up over at Di's Digi Design Blog.  This week is Pretty in Pastel.  I had Di's sweet Animal Ark printed and thought it would be perfect for the challenge.  I also needed a baby card for an upcoming shower in my office.

The image was colored with Copic Markers and layered onto papers from the October Afternoon Ducks in a Row paper pad.  A little grosgrain ribbon and sentiment from Crafty Secrets finishes the card.

I would like to share my card with the following:

Your Next Stamp Fun Friday Challenge: #109 Patterned Paper

I'm joining this week's challenge at Your Next Stamp with this fun Father's Day card.  I pulled out one of my favorite YNS stamps called Keepin' It Reel and coordinating die for this card.

I started by stamping the fisherman onto Stampin Up very vanilla card stock, coloring with Tombow markers and paper piecing the vest.  The fish image was die cut, colored and adhered with dimension tape.  I couldn't resist adding the googly eye!

LOTS of patterned papers were used on my card from the Campfire paper pad by October Afternoon.  I finished with a few wood veneer stars for dimension.

My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge - Sketch #330

This was one of the very rare evenings
when everything came together
perfectly and quickly for this card.
{LOVE that!}

Of course, it helps so much that I started
by pulling out my Warm & Fuzzy Friends
card kit from My Favorite Things.
The kit was a limited time offer, but
the website offers the pieces individually.

I started by stamping and die cutting the owls
onto water color paper then colored with
Tombow markers and blended.
The papers are from MFT Trail Mix and
October Afternoon Campfire.
The finished card is 4.25 square.

Unity Stamps FWF and Be Inspired Challenge

Friday's are fabulous for so many reasons, but especially because Unity hosts Friends with Flair.  It's a fun linky party with prizes!

I am using a new set called "Gossip, Hot-flashes & crazy" for my card today.  Angela, the owner of Unity, has so many fabulous sales that it's hard to resist buying these fun images.  This was part of a New Release bundle sale which arrived this week. I couldn't wait to ink it up!  I love the retro vintage lady images and the "kind of snarky" sentiments that are included.

This is also my submission for Unity's Be Inspired challenge colors this month.
Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #171 - Here Comes Summer!

Miz Ann is our hostess this week for the Sassy Cheryl Challenge.  She has chosen a very appropriate theme - "Summer".  I have several favorite summer images from Sassy Cheryl, but ultimately I colored up this fun image of Sally & her sidekick Bella.

I'm not sure whether Sally & Bella are peeking out to say hello or to see if there's something scarey outside the tent flap!!

This image is called "Sassy Sally and Bella Go Camping".  The sentiment is from a digital set by Create with TLC called "Shellebrate Summer".  I was out of town and unable to play along with the recent step card challenge.  I thought a center step card would work perfectly with this image.  This is my very first attempt at a center step card.  I found an easy step-by-step tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers by the fabulously talented Frances Byrne.  You can find the tutorial HERE.

Here's a little close up of the colored image.  I have used various Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils and a charcoal pencil to shade.  Of course, the digital image was fussy cut and layered on the "night sky" background paper with dimension tape.  The binoculars are from a Cricut Cartridge - Camping Out.  And a little ladybug brad to finish off!

The summer weather in Anchorage is holding (so far)!  DH is packing up the camper and we are headed out for a weekend of outdoor fun.  We don't sleep in a tent like Sally & Bella anymore, but we do enjoy being out in the camper and enjoying the nice weather.

Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.  I always enjoy reading your sweet comments!

Mo's Challenge #142 - Anything Goes

This week's challenge on Mo's Digital Challenge blog is "Anything Goes" with a Mo Manning image, of course.  When Mo first introduced "Moo", I knew I had to have it!  The sad eyes are just so adorable!  I had this image colored and waiting on my craft desk when this week's challenge was announced.

Here's the card that I created for the challenge:

As usual, I kept it pretty clean and simple focusing on the adorable image.  The base card stock is Stampin' Up Kraft (retired).  Why, oh why, did Stampin' Up discontinue their Kraft card stock??  It's my favorite!  The color panels are from October Afternoon "Farm Fresh" paper pad and machine stitched. The adorable digital image was colored with Copic Markers.  The sentiment is computer generated and a red ribbon finishes the card!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!  I enjoy reading each of your comments.  I hope somehow this inspires your creativity for the week!

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #116

This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog was to use our favorite color combo.  Well, I had a really hard time with an exact combo and decided to use a mix of muted hues that I like.  I also stepped out of my comfort zone this week and used an apron template with this "Sassy Sally Triple Layer Cake" image.

I started by printing my Sassy Cheryl image and an apron template from Paper Smooches.
I traced the template onto designer paper from the October Afternoon "Fly a Kite" paper pad.  I machine stitched around the base and "pocket".
I added rick rack to the pocket and as the apron neckband.  I printed out a fun birthday sentiment from Sentiments 4 You blog and it's ready to mail!  I can even slide money or a gift card into the "pocket" on the front.

Thanks for stopping by to take a look.  I'm also submitting this as this week's "Show Me" challenge over on Cheryl's blog.

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #129 Anything Goes

This week's challenge over on Mo's Digital Challenge blog is "Anything Goes". I had Mo's "Big Chair" already colored on my desk and thought it would be perfect for this week's challenge.

I browsed the FB Gallery and found a few easel cards with this image. I thought I would give it a try. The image was colored with copic markers then cut out with Spellbinders Wonky Rectangle die cut. I combined it with papers from October Afternoon Fly a Kite and Thrift Shop. The sentiment is computer generated and cut out with Spellbinder Oval nestibilities then layers on Fancy Tags Two. The flower die is from MFT.

This card will probably go out to my sister this week. She lives over 2000 miles away and just had my second niece! My first beautiful niece is 22 months old and inspired the card. They are a handful, but SO sweet.
Thanks for stopping by to take a look! Hope you have a creative week!

Sassy Cheryl #107 - Think Spring

It's another week of challenges on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge Blog. Sassy Peggy is our hostess this week and she's "Thinking Spring".

LinkWhen I think of Spring I think of gardening. What better image to represent Spring gardening than Farmer Sally! This is such a sweet image and so fun to color. I've used Prismacolor pencils and baby oil for part of the image. The remainder was colored with Copic Markers. Machine stitching has been added to a few of the layers. The main image was cut with Spellbinders Wonky Rectangles die cut and sponged. The designer papers are from the October Afternoon Farm Fresh paper stack. The base cardstock is Stampin' Up! Close to Cocoa and Wild Wasabi.

Thanks for taking a look! This card also uses this week's sketch from Splitcoast Stampers.

Sassy Cheryl #85 - Think Pink with a Die Cut

This week's Sassy Cheryl challenge is Think Pink with a Die Cut. I recently purchased this sweet digital image by Cheryl called "Share The Love". I think this little girl is so sweet hugging her teddy bear! I pulled out the October Afternoon "Ducks in a Row" paper stack to coordinate with my pink image. I decided to add the Stampin' Up! sentiment from "Warm Regards" since she seems to be deep in thought. I have used a couple of Spellbinder dies, some ribbon and machine stitching to complete this sweet card.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! I so enjoy reading your comments!

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #87

This week Dawn challenged us to use our Mo's Digital images to create a Tag AND use our favorite embellishment. You can find all of the details HERE.

I used the adorable Eileen image that I recently purchased from Mo's store. The image was printed directly to the pre-fab tag. I printed the image again on October Afternoon dp and cut out pieces for her scarf, gloves and apron pocket. The image was colored with Prismacolor pencils and baby oil. I've also attempted to make an envelope for the tag. I free-handed it based upon the measurements of my tag.

Finally, my current favorite embellishments are Baker's Twine and felt. I used my MFT die-namics grass die and green felt for the tag. Baker's twine and jute were also used on the tag and envelope.

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look! I really appreciate any comments that you leave!

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #60 - Sassy Sketch

This week's challenge over on the Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge blog is a sketch. I think sketch challenges are my favorite! For me, when I have the sketch everything else seems to just fall into place.

And this is what I came up with using Dawn's sketch. I couldn't resist using one of Cheryl's new images "A Mother's Day Heart" for a card which will probably be for Mother's Day. I think she's so sweet! For this card, I decided to paper piece the dress, bows and heart with October Afternoon dp. The background is also from the October Afternoon Thrift Shop paper stack. The card base is Stampin' Up! Kraft and Ruby Red. I've added a bow of red tulle with a Stampin' Up button tied on with baker's twine. Such a fun card to put together!

Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Mo's Digital Pencil - Challenge #73

This week's challenge over on Mo's Challenge Blog is courtesy of Pat Frank. Pat has challenged us to use a "Bit of Green" on our projects this week. This sweet image has been on my Wish List for some time now. I decided that I deserved a little shopping this weekend and bought "Strawberry Girl". Her strawberries and flowers have the "bit of green", along with, the adorable October Afternoon designer papers.

The digital image was colored with Prisma Pencils and baby oil. I also used Copic Markers for the skin tones. The background was sponged with blue chalk to give a light sky affect. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!
