30-Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 2

Good morning!  I have to admit, this is one of my favorite days of the year, why you ask?  Daylight savings (I love getting an extra hour, I always feel like I get so much done on this day and are still able to relax.  I'm back with the second day of this years gratitude challenge and as I mentioned yesterday I'm going to be switching things up and not just making cards for this years projects.  Today I'm sharing a beautiful gift package I whipped up using the Tag-a-Bag Gift Boxes.  The first step was to take the acetate cover for the box and embossed it with the Big Shot and Zig Zag Embossing Folder.   I wrapped a piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper around the box and then tied some Blackberry Bliss 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon around the box.

For the tag I used the Merry Everything stamp set and coordinating Note Tag Punch, along with the For All Things stamp set for a background effect and the acorn (that is punched up with a dimensional).
For some extra detail I stamped two feathers from the Four Feathers stamp set and used the coordinating feather framelit to cut them out.  I added a piece of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon and one of the Autumn Wooden Elements (that I colored with Mossy Meadow ink).

These boxes have so many uses, I used some packing paper from some old boxes and cut it with fringe scissors and scrunched it up before using it as filling and then added three small candles in fall scents.  This would make a perfect hostess gift, teacher gift, etc.  I'm actually making several of these up including Christmas themed one's to start crossing off names on my gift list (it's never too early to start!).

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Watercolor Wednesday: For All Things

Good morning!  It's officially fall and the weather is falling right in line with the calendar and the temps are falling.  Today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's Watercolor Wednesday and the designers are sharing some great cards using watercoloring.  I will admit, while I love the look of watercoloring I don't use the beautiful technique all that often but one of the great things with the recent catalog releases is that there have been stamp sets available that can give you the look of watercoloring quick and easy, in this case I used the For all Things stamp set.

I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a piece of Hello Honey behind the stamped Very Vanilla background piece.  For the background piece I used the leaf from the For all Things stamp set and used Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, and Mello Moss ink and I stamped off first before stamping each of the leaves for a softer effect.  Next I stamped a couple of feathers from the Four Feathers stamp set, cut them out with the coordinating Feathers Framelits and Big Shot and sponged around the edges of the feathers.  I also cut out a feather using the Champagne Shimmer Paper (everyone needs some bling!)  After attaching the feathers to the card I used some Gold Baker's Twine to tie a nice and simple bow.

The greeting is also from the For all Things stamp set, I stamped the banner piece in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then the greeting is in Cajun Craze.  I hand cut out the greeting with Paper Snips and attached it to the card with dimensionals.

This card is perfect for the fall season that we're entering and makes me want to snuggle under a blanket and relax in front of the fireplace, ahh heaven!  Make sure to check out the other cards the designers are sharing, they're wonderful

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Card Sketch: Million & One

Good morning!  How was your weekend? We had a great time in that we didn't have any scheduled activities and were able to relax and enjoy, plus I think the heat finally broke and Sunday's weather was downright perfection.  This little break in the craziness did allow me a little extra time in the studio which was a lot of fun.  Today I'm sharing one of the cards I made this weekend for this month's   Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration card sketch challenge.  I have to admit I'm fully embracing the coming of fall and all the fun that it brings and it shows with this card.  For the cardbase I used Soft Suede and then I added a piece of Vey Vanilla cardstock that I stamped the greeting with the Million & One stamp set and Stampin' Write Markers.  Next I added a piece of designer series paper from the Color Me Autumn DSP package that I matted with some Mossy Meadow Cardstock.
Of course since I'm in  fall frame of mind I had to add some leaves and feathers to my card.  I used the Big Shot and Autumn Accents Bigz Die to cut some leaves out of Crushed Curry and Soft Suede cardstock, then embossed them with the Perfect Polka Dot and Houndstooth embossing folders before sponging with Crumb cake ink.  I also added a feather that I stamped with the Four Feathers stamp set in Cajun Craze ink and then cut it out with the coordinating Feather Framelit (you can purchase the stamp set and coordinating framelit and save 15%, so great!).  The final touch was to add a bow I made with Gold Baker's Twine.

I really like how this card turned out, lots of texture and dimension and this sketch was lots of fun to play with.  No matter if you decide to make a pocket card or a faux pocket like mine, lots of possibilities.  Make sure to check out all the other great cards the design team is sharing and come play along so you get in on all the fun.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge: Seasonally Scattered

Happy Labor Day!  I'm sure like you I love having three day weekends and enjoying extra time at home and since we just got back from vacation this extra time is just what we need to get ready for the start of school tomorrow.  I did have time to hop in the studio to make this fun card for the  Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Blog color sketch challenge.  This was a great challenge sine I wouldn't have thought to pair these colors together but they really work.  I'm so in love with the products in the new catalog so I decided to use them for his great fall themed card.  I started with Hello Honey for the cardbase and then added a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing folder (I used a sponge and the Sahara Sand ink to highlight the embossed detail).

For the main stamped image I used the Seasonally Scattered stamp set and inked my stamp up with Stampin' Write Markers for a rainbow type effect on the image.  Next I used the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch on both the stamped piece and the Rich Razzleberry mat.  I also sponged around the stamped piece with Sahara Sand ink.
Have you seen these new feather framelits and matching Four Feathers stamp set (so fun) so I stamped two of the feathers, cut them out with the framelits and then sponged around the edges with Sahara Sand ink before attaching them to the cardfront with a Linen Thread bow.  The final touch is a nice big knot made with some Calypso Coral Chevron Ribbon.

What do you think?  This card turned out even better than I had hoped and these colors really pop.  Make sure to check out the other great projects the designers are sharing and come play along with us, it's lots of fun.
