30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 18

Good morning!  It’s Wednesday and it’s been a very productive week but with Thanksgiving only a week away I have a lot to do and not a lot of time.  I’m back with today’s gratitude card and with the beautiful and unusually warm weather we’ve been having here this week and I’m trying to enjoy it while it lasts so I decided to use the fall views as inspiration for today’s gratitude card, I'm also sharing this card over on the SSINKspiration blog for our gratitude post (so you can go there for other ideas).  Also, Wendy Weixler showed this great technique (new to me) for stamping on an embossing folder before adding the cardstock and it is such a beautiful effect I created this card (and it was a big hit in card class last weekend!)  I will say, I loved it so much I decided to use it for our families Thanksgiving card and I embossed several pieces and noticed that no two pieces looked exactly the same and it was really fun to see how they all turned out when I did the same thing each time.

I started with Cajun Craze cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.  To create the background I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set (the largest splotched stamp) and stamped it using Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, and Always Artichoke ink (I started with the lightest color ink and worked my way to the darkest) on the inside of the Woodland Embossing Folder (this folder is amazing and it was just announced that it will retire at the end of the Holiday Catalog and only available while supplies last so if you don’t have it order it ASAP so you don’t miss out!) .  Then I added the Very Vanilla cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot (we found that running it through twice at the same time provides a better coverage of the ink on the cardstock).

The greeting is from the For All Things stamp set and I used Soft Suede and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Markers to ink the stamp and then cut it out with the Big Shot and Deco Labels Framilits (and finished by sponging around the edge with Hello Honey ink).  I created a background for the greeting using the Decorative Label Punch and Always Artichoke cardstock.  A piece of Hello Honey 5/8” Striped Cotton Ribbon provides some flag tails out the one side.  The final element was to add one of the little wooden acorn pieces from the Into the Woods Wooden Embellishments (I colored it using Crumb Cake and Soft Suede Stampin’ Write Markers before attaching it to the cardfront with glue dots.

I love absolutely everything about this card and this background really is a showstopper!  I can image doing the same thing with trees, and other stamped images and see what the result is (oh, I may have to play with this!!)

SSINKspiration Mystery Challenge #SSINKMC26: For All Things

Happy Monday! We had a wonderful weekend, Aidan had his 2nd Degree Black Belt Test on Saturday and despite being one of the hardest things he's ever did he worked hard and successfully completed the test, I'm such a proud mama.  Yesterday I spent most of the day stamping with some great ladies and was a great way to spend a Sunday.  Today it's back to school and work and getting ready for Halloween.  Today on the SSINKinkspration blog we have a fun mystery challenge.  This is a fun new monthly feature we have where you pick the amount of items from a given list in the creation of your card, lots of fun.

I started with Island Indigo cardstock for the cardbase and then took a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and embossed it with the Big Shot and Woodland Embossing Folder (after embossing I took my Early Espresso Marker to color in the lines on the trees and then sponged all over them with Soft Suede ink, really makes the embossing pop).  Next I took a piece of the new Kraft Corrugated cardstock and made a flag and matted it with Early Espresso Cardstock and then added a piece of Blackberry Bliss 5/8" Stitched Cotton Ribbon on top.

The greeting is from the For All Things stamp set and as colored using Stampin' Write Markers.  I also used the watermark image to and stamped it in Crumb Cake ink (stamped off once first) for a fun background before punching it out with the Extra Large Oval Punch and matted it with a piece of Island Indigo cardstock that was punched out with the Decorative Label Punch.  I used dimensionals to attach the greeting to the cardfront.  For some fun texture I took a piece of the edge of the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon (you never know when you're going to use those little scraps) and tied it in a small knot.  I also used one of the wood acorns from the Into the Woods Wooden Embellishments and colored it using Blackberry Bliss and Soft Suede ink.

I'm so in love with all the different textures on this card, you don't need lots of something, a small element can really help pack a punch, it's so fun!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Masculine Monday Gratitude Card: For all Things

Good morning!  What a crazy weekend, I don't think I stopped for more than a few minutes at a time but I was able to get lots of thinks crossed off my to do list (I love the feeling of crossing things off once they're complete, don't you?)  Today I'm sharing one of the cards I made this weekend.  Over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's Masculine Monday and fit's always fun to see what the designers come up with for the "dudes" in our lives.  I also combined this with my 30-Day Gratitude challenge for a double bang.

The cardbase is Soft Suede and then I added a piece of Color Me Autumn Designers Series Paper (it really provided the color palate for the card.  I added another piece of DSP and matted it with Soft Suede cardstock before adding some Gold Baker's Twine.

For the greeting I took a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and stamped the Hardwood stamp in Crumb Cake.  The greeting is from the For all Things stamp set and I used Stampin' Write markers to color on the stamp.  Next I tore around the edges and then sponged with Crumb Cake ink so it really gave the look of a wooden plank.  I used a Soft Suede Candy Dot and some Linen Thread to make it look like the greeting is a plank hanging on the wall.

This card turned out so fun, I really like it!

30-Day Gratitude Card Challenge: Day 2

Good morning!  I have to admit, this is one of my favorite days of the year, why you ask?  Daylight savings (I love getting an extra hour, I always feel like I get so much done on this day and are still able to relax.  I'm back with the second day of this years gratitude challenge and as I mentioned yesterday I'm going to be switching things up and not just making cards for this years projects.  Today I'm sharing a beautiful gift package I whipped up using the Tag-a-Bag Gift Boxes.  The first step was to take the acetate cover for the box and embossed it with the Big Shot and Zig Zag Embossing Folder.   I wrapped a piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper around the box and then tied some Blackberry Bliss 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon around the box.

For the tag I used the Merry Everything stamp set and coordinating Note Tag Punch, along with the For All Things stamp set for a background effect and the acorn (that is punched up with a dimensional).
For some extra detail I stamped two feathers from the Four Feathers stamp set and used the coordinating feather framelit to cut them out.  I added a piece of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon and one of the Autumn Wooden Elements (that I colored with Mossy Meadow ink).

These boxes have so many uses, I used some packing paper from some old boxes and cut it with fringe scissors and scrunched it up before using it as filling and then added three small candles in fall scents.  This would make a perfect hostess gift, teacher gift, etc.  I'm actually making several of these up including Christmas themed one's to start crossing off names on my gift list (it's never too early to start!).

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration October Blog Hop: Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere!

It’s that time again, the second Thursday of the month, which means it’s the Stylin’ Stampin’ INKspiration monthly blog hop and this month it’s all about pumpkins.  You can’t get too far these days without seeing everything pumpkin, even Aidan’s commented on the whole pumpkin craze may be a bit overboard but since it’s fall we’re embracing all the fun.  The design team has once again outdone themselves and there are lots of great ideas.

As you hop along, please be sure to comment and show some love on every blog!  We are always excited to hear from our followers!  You should have just left stop number 2 at Cynthia at Ink-A-Doodle Creations.  If so, you are in the right spot.  If the link doesn't work or you get off track, you will find the full blog hop lineup below.

Today I’m sharing two projects I made a card and then a 3D item (perfect for your mantel or other décor piece).

For the card I started with Sahara Sand for the cardbase and then layered Soft Suede and Whisper White before adding a strip of Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper.  I used the Deco Labels Framelits and the Big Shot to cut out both the frame element (in Soft Suede) ( used the 2nd and 3rd frames and layered them together to cut the frame out at once).  Then I used the smallest framelit and Tangerine Tango cardstock to cutout the insert before embossing it with the Chevron Embossing Folder.  The greeting is from the For all Things stamp set and was inked with Stampin’ Write Markers before cutting them out with Paper Snips (I sponged around the edge with Tangerine Tango Ink to soften the edges and attached it with dimensionals).  I added one of the fun new Gold Buttons that has Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine tied in a knot for some bling.  For the pumpkin I used the Fall Fest stamp set and inked it with Stampin’ Write Markers and then cut it out with the Big shot and Fall Fun Framelits.  A dimensional helps attached the pumpkin to the card so it has some extra dimension.

For the second project I decided to make a 3D paper pumpkin.  This is an oldie but goodie and is
updated with current products.  I took 10 strips of 1” x 6” Pumpkin Pie cardstock and embossed them with the Big Shot and Woodgrain Embossing Folder and then sponged each piece with Pumpkin Pie ink for added texture.  Next I used the 1/8” Circle Punch and punched holes in both ends of the cardstock for all pieces and then threaded a piece of Mossy Meadow 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon through one set of holes and tied a knot and threaded it through the other and pulled it tight to create the round shape before tying another knot in the top to hold it in place (I left some of the ribbon on top so it looked like the pumpkin stem.  All you need to do if fan out the cardstock pieces to make the pumpkin shape.

Next I cut a couple of thin strips of Mossy Meadow cardstock and wrapped them around a pen really tight to create the corkscrew and attached to the pumpkin with a glue dot.  For the leaves I stamped some of the leaves from the Fall Fest stamp set in Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze ink on matching cardstock and then cut them out with the Fall Fun Framelits.  I rubbed the leaves along the edge of the bone folder to help shape the leaves and then attached them to the pumpkin with glue dots.  The greeting is from the For all Things stamp set and was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock.  I cut it out with the Itty Bitty Banners Framelits, trimmed one side, and sponged around the edge with Cajun Craze ink.   It’s also attached with a glue dot (to help it stand up the glue dot is actually on the edge of the flag versus the back.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Watercolor Wednesday: For All Things

Good morning!  It's officially fall and the weather is falling right in line with the calendar and the temps are falling.  Today over on the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog it's Watercolor Wednesday and the designers are sharing some great cards using watercoloring.  I will admit, while I love the look of watercoloring I don't use the beautiful technique all that often but one of the great things with the recent catalog releases is that there have been stamp sets available that can give you the look of watercoloring quick and easy, in this case I used the For all Things stamp set.

I started with Crumb Cake for the cardbase and then added a piece of Hello Honey behind the stamped Very Vanilla background piece.  For the background piece I used the leaf from the For all Things stamp set and used Hello Honey, Cajun Craze, and Mello Moss ink and I stamped off first before stamping each of the leaves for a softer effect.  Next I stamped a couple of feathers from the Four Feathers stamp set, cut them out with the coordinating Feathers Framelits and Big Shot and sponged around the edges of the feathers.  I also cut out a feather using the Champagne Shimmer Paper (everyone needs some bling!)  After attaching the feathers to the card I used some Gold Baker's Twine to tie a nice and simple bow.

The greeting is also from the For all Things stamp set, I stamped the banner piece in Crumb Cake ink on Crumb Cake cardstock and then the greeting is in Cajun Craze.  I hand cut out the greeting with Paper Snips and attached it to the card with dimensionals.

This card is perfect for the fall season that we're entering and makes me want to snuggle under a blanket and relax in front of the fireplace, ahh heaven!  Make sure to check out the other cards the designers are sharing, they're wonderful

I hope you enjoy today's project and remember you don't have to be intimidated by watercoloring, we have some great products to help you make beautiful projects that will surely impress.

Happy stamping,

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration New Catalog Fun: For all Things

Happy Thursday!    Today's an exciting day, not only is today the official release of this year's holiday catalog, which is beyond amazing but today the Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration blog designers are sharing some wonderful projects using products from the new catalog to provide some great inspiration.  The first products I bought when we demonstrators could start ordering from the holiday catalog was the fall product suite, I see lots of great ideas that I can't wait to create.

The cardbase for this card is Sahara Sand and then I added a piece of DSP from the Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper.  Next I created the background stamped image using the For All Things stamp set on Very Vanilla Cardstock and used the Rock & Roll Technique on the larger leave and Stampin' Write Markers to color in the acorns.  This piece was matted on Cajun Craze cardstock.

For the main stamped image I started by stamping the watercolor stamped image from the For All Things stamp set in Sahara Sand ink and then used Stampin' Write Markers to color in the greeting directly on the rubber.  This piece was punched out with the Big Shot and Oval Collection Framelits and I used the same framelits to cut the mat out of Mossy Meadow cardstock and then embossed it with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  Of course I had to add some extra bling to this card there are some great new items that play with product from our annual catalog so well.  I started with a piece of 1/4" Burlap Ribbon and I cut the sewn border of the ribbon and took a couple strips of to make the ribbon smaller and more distressed.  I also added a little piece of 3/8" Blackberry Bliss Stiched Satin Ribbon.  The final touch was a new Gold Button and I tied a bow using Linen Thread in the center.
