30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Day 6 (SSINKspiration Color Sketch #SSINKCC49)

Good morning!  It was a fun weekend and I had the opportunity to catch up with a dear friend and even run a race, loved every minute of it!  With the start of the new week it's time for a color sketch over on the SSINKspiration blog so I decided to use the color sketch as inspiration for today's gratitude card.  I like having a variety of all occasion thank you cards ready to go when the need arises and this card fits the bill.

I started with Old Olive cardstock for the cardbase and added Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardfront which I embossed with the Big Shot and Pinewood Planks Dynamic Embossing Folder.

The greeting is from the Label Me Pretty stamp set and I stamped the larger decorative piece was stamped in Old Olive ink on Whisper White cardstock and punched out with the coordinating Pretty Label Punch.  The greeting was stamped in Calypso Coral ink on Sweet Sugarplum cardstock and punched out with the 1 1/4" Circle Punch which was attached with a dimensional.

To add a little bling to the card I used the Starburst Punch and Gold Foil Sheets to create a shiny accent piece and finished it off with a double bow tied out of Calypso Coral 1/8" Sheer Ribbon.

This turned out to be a quick and easy card but just a few additional accessories help dress it up to impress.  Make sure to check out the other cards the design team is sharing for inspiration using this color challenge and then we would love for you to play along with us!

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Color Challenge SSINKCC43: Any Occasion

Good morning!  Well this weekend was a cold reminder that winter may not quite be finished with us but thankfully we weren't super, crazy busy this weekend so we were able to relax and stay warm inside (which of course meant some extra crafting time, which I needed).  It's a new week and so we have another challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog, this time it's a color challenge.  Since we just have a few short weeks of Sale-a-bration left I decided to combine several SAB freebies in this challenge to create a cute baby card (it's always good to have a selection of cards ready to go and I needed a few more baby options so this was perfect!)

I started with Crumb Cake cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Whisper White cardstock with a mat of Perfect Plum.  On the Whisper White layer I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to stamp in the background.  I used a piece of the gold metallic ribbon (from the SAB 3/8" Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack) and attached it with the Handheld Stapler.

For the stamped image I started by cutting a circle out of Whisper White cardstock using the Big Shot and Stitched Shapes Framelits and then used the Any Occasion stamp set (another SAB Freebie) and created the banner details using all the little stamps in the set (the stamps being photopolymer make perfect placement super easy!)  I matted the circle with a circle of Melon Mambo cardstock cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Circles Framelits.  Before attaching the circle to the cardfront with dimensionals I attached a small gold metallic doily (from the Metallic Foil Doilies pack) to peek out from behind the circle.

This is a great color combo and lends itself to so many different options.  This isn't your standard baby card, it's a bit more elegant and a fun change of pace.  The design team shared some great cards using the same colors and they're such a wide variety, you should definitely check them out and then play along and share what you create, we would love to see what you come up with!

SSINKspiration Stamp Set Focus: Thoughtful Branches

Happy Friday! It’s a busy day today, work this morning and then Aidan head out to Washington so he can spend a week with his grandparents while I head home where we’re going to have a quiet week at home (and work of course).  I’m so excited for Aidan he loves these visits with family and I wish he could spend more time.  Before all the craziness begins I wanted to share a fun card I made using the Thoughtful Branches stamp set and framelit bundle that’s a special right now and only available this month!  The SSINKspiration designers are sharing some fun ideas using this bundle today to provide a little inspiration and show how much you need this bundle in your crafting toolbox.

I started with Soft Sky cardstock for the cardbase and then added a layer of Early Espresso Cardstock that was a mat for my whisper White cardfront.  I decided to use the technique I showed previously to create a cloudy background by sponging with Soft Sky ink and using the Tree Builder Punch as the mask, see original post HERE.  Along the bottom of the cardfront for the grass I used the Work of Art stamp set and Wild Wasabi ink (of various strengths to add some dimension).  The base of the tree was cut using the framelits and Early Espresso cardstock. The leaves are on Whisper White cardstock with Wild Wasabi ink before being cut out (these framelits make these intricate cuts a breeze!  I added some apples and a bird using Cherry Cobbler to the tree with dimensionals for some height.  I used a tiny pearl for the eye of the bird for a fun touch.  A piece of 1/8” Gold Ribbon was tied into a bow and glued to the base of the tree (reminds me of the song around tying a yellow ribbon around an old oak tree).
The greeting is the same stamp set and was stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink on Whisper White cardstock.  The top greeting was cut out with the Big Shot and Layering Ovals Framelits, along with the Early Espresso scalloped oval for the mat.  The rest of the greeting at the bottom was punched out with the Classic Label Punch and trimmed along the right side.

I had so much fun playing with this bundle and making the fun background I can’t wait to use it some more and will be sharing some additional ideas soon to tempt you.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Card Sketch SSINKCS30: Bravo

Good morning!  It was a good weekend and when we weren't busy with Aidan's birthday party I was able to break away for a little stamping and had a very fun stamp class this afternoon!  Since it's the second Monday of the month it's time for the monthly card sketch challenge over on the SSINKspiration blog.  I know I've said it before but I really enjoy these challenges as a great way to change things up and provide some inspiration for cards I'm making.  I had a coworker leave recently for a new opportunity and while it's sad for us I was so happy for this opportunity for him and his family and wanted to give him something special.

I started with Lost Lagoon cardstock for the cardbase and then added a piece Crumb Cake cardstock that I embossed with the Big Shot and Brickwall Embossing Folder and then sponged the cardstock with Crumb Cake ink to highlight the embossing.

Next I took a piece of designer series paper from the Going Places DSP stack and matted it with Lost Lagoon cardstock.  As you know, I like my bling so I added a gold star to the center by using some Gold Glimmer Paper, Big Shot, and Star Collection Framelits.

The greeting is from the Bravo stamp set and was stamped with Basic Black ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.  I used Paper Snips to trim the ends and my bone folder to curl the paper and then glue dots were used to attach the greeting so it holds it's curl and looks like a flag waving.

I had a lot of fun using different textures and elements to really amp up the WOW factor with this card while it was still pretty easy to make and I know my friend really appreciated it.  The other design team members are sharing some fun cards as inspiration for this card sketch so go check them out and then we would love for you to play along and share your project!

SSINKspiration 3D Items: Party Wishes

Happy Friday!  We’re finally getting back into the regular routines now that schools back in session we’re getting back on track.  It seems like we have a lot of birthdays in February (including Aidan’s big birthday party this weekend) so I’ve been working on a lot of birthday cards and projects so since we’re sharing 3D items over on the SSINKspiration blog it’s only fitting that today’s project is birthday themed.  I love our Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bags since they’re the perfect foundation for all sorts of needs!

I started with a Kraft Tag a Bag Gift Bag and sponged stars on it using the Whisper White Craft Ink and Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask (make sure to let this dry completely, if you use our classic ink it would dry much faster).  Next I added a piece of It’s My Party Designer Series Paper that I cut for a flag.  Then I took a piece of a Paper Doily (only used a ¼ doily) and crumpled it to add some texture and then sponged it with Melon Mambo ink.  Then I used the Party Wishes stamp set for the greeting and stamped it in Basic Black Ink on Pistachio Pudding cardstock and attached it with dimensionals to the bag.  I used some Basic Black 3/8” Stitched Satin Ribbon and tied a knot and then attached it below the greeting with a glue dot.

The final touch was to punch two holes in the top of the bag using a handheld punch and then took two pieces of Melon Mambo baker’s twine from the Baker’s Twine Combo Pack and tied a bow at the top of the bag to keep it closed.

This gift bag is really cute and is super easy to make and doesn’t use a ton of products so you could make lots of them for all the gift occasions you have and the recipient will love it!
