Autumn - Art Journal Page

 Hello and happy September!

Unbelievable - it´s the first of September, where has the summer gone?

As always at the first of a month, it is time for a new challenge over at Country View Challenges. This month the theme is: Leaves begin to fall, hosted by the lovely Jane. She says:  Use leaves as background or the main focal of your project.

Leaves must be the main feature, no "token" leaf added!!

So I made an art journal page.

This is what I did:

First I sprayed a watercolor paper with various mists in autumnal colors.

I used Glimmer Mists and Glimmer Mists from Lindy´s Stamp Gang.

My background I prepared with Gesso and then I used a stencil and heavy Gesso to create some texture. When dry, I colored it with grey Ecoline liquid watercolor and added a hint of turquoise blue and light green Ecoline liquid watercolor. For some shine I dabbed some Extreme Sheen metalic paint 24K Gold from DecoArt.
For more interest I did some stamping. I used an old BoBunny stamp called It´s Written with Versa Fine Clair Morning Mist and some subtile stamping with an old border stamp, I guess it´s from Kaiserkraft, with DI speckled egg here and there.

Next I did some die cutting with the beautiful sizzix thinlits called fall foliage by Tim Holtz. I used the colored watercolor paper. I used some squeezed lemonade DO on some of the leaves and distressed the edges with DI walnut stain. Then I glued them all down, some with foam squares for some hight.

...oh, and did you discover the little elves? They were a freebe from Astrid McLean in 2020. They are absolutely lovely.

Here are some more pictures:

I wrote the word "Herbst" (autumn) into one of the bigger leaves.

Here the first elve.

....and here the second one, hidden between the leaves.

Now it´s your turn to make something beautiful with falling leaves! You can win a 20 £ voucher for the shop!

Card for a Man

Hello all, nice to have you here!

For the new month we have a new challenge over at Country View Challenges. This time the theme is "Use a stencil or two...".

I love to use stencils very much and I guess I use them in nearly all my artwork.

To add texture with a stencil changes the whole look of a piece and they are so very versatile in their use.

For my first piece I decided to make a card for a man.

This is what I did:
I took a piece of watercolor paper and sprayed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in a light grey.
I put the stencil Lattice Work form Tim on top of the wet paint, sprayed a little bit more and left it to dry.

When it was dry, I removed the stencil and it looked like this.

The stencil was still wet, so i placed it on another piece of paper. I will use it for a second card.

To get rid of the "frame" I spreat Distress Inks ground espresso and black soot around it with a distressing tool and a sponge.

Time for a second stencil. I used the Numeric stencil from Tim, also one of my favourites, with Distress Oxide mermaid lagoon.

To make the numbers stand out more, I surrounded some of them with a white posca pen.

For some more marks I used the third stencil, again a Tim one, called Stitched Layering, with Distress Oxide crackling campfire. It´s not visible very much, but it adds a subtile texture and a hint of color.

To finish the background, I sprinkled some white paint on top.

I stamped my image and the sign, colored all, layered them and glued them on top of my background. Last I glued everything on top of a card and embellished the card with some flowers and a bow.

Now it´s ypir turn to make something with a stencil! As always you can win a 20£ voucher for the shop.

Thank you for your visit today!

"The magic of books" - Mixed Media Canvas for Country View Challenges

Hello and happy sunday!
Today I want to share my second project for the challenge at Country View Challenges this month.

I made a Mixed Media canvas called "The Magic of Books". Fitting to the theme this month, Letters and/or Numbers, I wanted to share with you my love for books and reading.
Letters become words, words line up to senteces and fill books. And what magic can happen, if you read a good book! You can travel to foreign places you never have been, you can travel through centuries, taste without eating or drinking, feel without being touched, jump into other person´s lifes. You can laugh and cry, feel touched or scared and so much more - absolutely magical! I love reading!

I made a process video while creating - it´s a little bit longer, so grab a cup of coffee and enjoy watching!

Here are some close ups:

I hope you liked my canvas, I had much fun creating it!
But now it´s your turn to make something with letters and/or numbers for our challenge, I look forward to seeing what you made!
Remember, you can win a 20£ voucher for the shop!

Cityscape - Day 1 of my USA/Canada Travel Journal for CVC

Hello and Happy New Year to all of you!

New Year - new challenge at Country View Challenges! This time my lovely team mate Craftyfield has chosen the theme "Cityscape/Landscape".
This is what she says:

The theme for January is Cityscape/Landscape, chosen by Craftyfield.
For this challenge we want to see countryside or city scenes. Seascapes and mountain scenes are OK too, but a single house with or without garden, a few trees do not constitute a landscape... Feel free to add faeries or critters however, the scenes do not need to be realistic!

Last year I went with my daughter on a wonderful vacation to the USA and Canada. I made a Travel Journal, in which I wanted to write all our adventures day by day.
But - we were so busy, that I didn´t make it to fill the pages meanwhile the travel. So I hoarded all the cards, tickets, bits and bobs, wrote on a notepad, what we did every day and thought, I´ll fill the journal, when we are back home.
Well, you guessed it already...... Life went to it´s normal course and the travel journal sat in a drawer, waiting to be filled.

Now, thank you Christine for giving me the reason to work on it 😉😊

Here is the first day of our travel - arrival in New York.

I prepared the background with Gesso and took some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Rose Gold for a little bit muted color. Then I added the Cityscape, also colored with Rose Gold and glued down all the other elements from our first day in New York City and framed the pictures with some doodling. Some stamping added a bit more interest.
At last I journaled, what happend at this day - and that´s it!

I made a little step by step - video, so sit back and enjoy watching!

Here is the skyline from NYC, I found on clipart-library.com for free download.

The pictures of the Times Square, Hard Rock Café and the Black Iron Burger I found on internet.

That´s it for today!

I wish you a wonderful, creative and healthy New Year and we would be happy, if you´ll find time to join in with our challenges at Country View Challenges this year again!

DIY Travel Note Book for Country View Challenges

Hello dear visitors, nice to have you here!

While you are reading this post, I am still on vacancy with my daughter in the USA.... or may be we are in Canada right now? 😀

What a big adventure and a big, big dream coming true!
We are travelling three weeks from New York, the coast up to Quebeck over Montreal and Toronto to the Niagara Falls and then back to New York before we go home again.
Wow! I can´t believe it! I´m writing this one day before we start, I´m so excited!

Well, I needed a Travel Note Book - of course we want to see as much as possible and I don´t want to forget anything! So I made this.
Fitting to the September challenge over at Country View Challenges "Planes, Trains, Automobiles", hosted by the lovely Miriam, I decorated the cover with a plane and a shrinked stamped Automobile.

Today I don´t have steps or a video for you - I had no time, sorry!

I made this book some time ago, but I measured the cover wrong and I didn´t like the paper I covered it, so I took it and changed the look.
This is what it looked before:

Well, pretty, but...

I took some papers from the Tim Holtz Correspondece Paper Pad and made the cover new.

I added some checkered paper to the binded notebook to have more space for more notes, e.g. expenditure, notes, ...

I played with some mists, crackle paste through a stencil and stamps, stamped the title, fuzzy cut the aeroplane and put everything together.

Then I added a eyelet and threaded a leather string through.

Here are some close ups:

The inside I will show you, when I am back - hopefully filled with beautiful memories, so stay tuned!
Well, meanwhile I hope, you will find the time join in with our challenge this month, so that I´ll get to see some pretty makes from you when I come home!

Thank you for your visit today and have a good time.
