Life's A Beach....

WOW 3 posts in 1 day!
The theme this week at Just For Fun is squares, so I've done a canvas. I sprayed it with Dylusions in green and blue, then stamped some tissue paper with various Crafty Individuals stamps, all with a beach theme, and used beeswax to stick it down.
I stamped some stampboard squares with the same stamps, and used my trusty glue gun to stick them down after edging with gold pen.
I'm also entering this into the Crafty Individuals simple square challenge.
That's me done for today, thanks for looking and enjoy the Bank Holiday tomorrow x

Probably The Best Circle In The World

No I'm not boasting, it's just a little hint to where the circle came from lol. Yep I've been stealing beer mats again to make a  hangy thing for this weeks Just For Fun circle challenge. The idea was to colour with gold UTE, then emboss through my creaky old Bug. Then I wanted to highlight the embossed parts with brighter UTE's All went well until I added the green and purple and re-heated, the embossing disappeared! I was really surprised at this, I thought it would have held it's shape. Never mind, I just heaped the UTE's on top then embossed again.
The dashing chappies are from Artistic Outpost, and the charm is by Tim Holtz.
I really enjoyed making this, so thanks very much for the challenge x

Just For Fun - Falling in Love Again - Attack of the Killer Bees 2

The Just for Fun challenge this week is to fall in love with your stamps all over again and try a different technique with them. I've got a couple of lovely bee stamps, and I wanted a honeycomby type stamp to go with them. Now having raided the kids piggy banks for Harrogate last week,  (just kidding - or am I.....) :o) I decided to make my own. So out came the hexagon stencil and the funky foam and hey presto my own stamps stuck onto some old packaging. Now I'm thinking Stampers Anonymous, Paper Bag Studios.. Maybe not lol.
Meanwhile back at the challenge... what I do not do with my stamps is stamp directly onto the project. When I first started cardmaking the done thing was to stamp, colour, cut it out and stick it on (sound familiar) and this is what I still do. So armed with my new stamps I decided to make my own backing paper. I used my giant hexagon first in Mustard Seed and Scattered Straw distress ink, then overstamped the small hexagons with the honey coloured one. I threw some clear embossing powder on and hoped for the best. Then I brayered a pale yellow over the top (doesn't show up too well on the photo) THEN I got really brave and overstamped my killer bees (The Stampman and Stampotique) and clear embossed again.
This is how it ended up, just cut up an wrapped arround a candle jar. I'm really chuffed with this 'cos it started life a piece of white card and ended up as something else, and I like that.               So thanks again to Just for Fun - your challenges are really challenging and I love it!                                           Thanks very much for looking x

Life's Too Short To Stuff A Mushroom (or alter a matchbox)

I love Thursdays, it's my day off work, and it's the new Just For Fun Challenge. This week it's time to try a new format. I've made cards and ATC's but never inchies or twinchies. To be honest I just don't get them (no offence you inchie/twinchie folk out there - I didn't get ATC's or acrylic paint for years either :o)  )
Sooo I decided that my new format would be a matchbox, and not just any old matchbox, this one has extra long matches which are fab for lighting Yankee Candles when they've burned down a bit.
The papers are Basic Gray Scarlets Letter (though this one is black and white) I would hate to attempt to alter a smaller matchbox, the combination of being ham fisted and blind as a bat unless in full sunlight would make it impossible lol.
I'm also entering this into the Theme Thursday challenge which is Black and White.
I think it's customary to put bits and bobs into the matchboxes - I'm going to put the matches back into mine!
Thanks very much for looking x

The Future Comes One Day At A Time

When I saw that this weeks Simon Says Stamp and Show challenge was to use metal I crossed it off my to do list. I've only used metal a couple of times and I wasn't too thrilled with the results. But when the Just for Fun challenge was to use a new technique, it seemed the right time to get the old metal sheet out again.
The roses have been coloured in alcohol inks in shades of blues, greens, and reds.
The leaves and butterfly are Paper Artsy dies, and have also been coloured with DI's. The sentiment is from the same Paper Artsy set and I thought that it finished it off nicely.
The background is a cork kitchen floor tile. I couldn't believe that the Tim Holtz die would cut through it, but it went straight through!
I'm also entering this into The Sunday Stampers challenge, as this week it's brown.
Thanks very much for looking and have a great Sunday x

Just For Fun Challenge 3 For The Wings of a Bug

You know when you get an idea and it all comes together and everyone lives happily ever after - no me neither except for this tag. The JFF challenge this week is Wings of a Bug, and I was struggling with that part, but THEN postie brought my new Stampotique stamps, one of which is a butterfly/moth.
I wanted to do a nice bright background, so I used my favourite Dylusion paints in red, yellow and green. The stamps are from Scrolls Work and Paper Artsy, and I've stamped with bright Stazon's.
My grungy dude (do we still say dude lol) and the quote below him are from a Paper Artsy plate. I did him once then realised I'd cut his arms off when I tried to stick his wings on :o)
I really enjoyed making him, so thanks very much for the challenge, and thanks for looking x

Breaking Us In Two Just For Fun Challenge 1

No I'm not in a bad mood with Neil (well no more than usual :o) it's just that I've been listening to the brilliant Joe Jackson on YouTube, and this is one of my favourites. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6C-xazgqpPc. This is for the first challenge on the new Just For Fun site, and the theme this week is Heartfelt Wings.
My usually loving couple are from Paper Artsy, the wings are a Heidi Swapp clear stamp, and the arrow is from Scrolls Work Stamps.
The wings are stamped on Core-dinations, with That Special Touch Of Gold embossing powder, then  embossed through the Cuttlebug. Finally I sanded it all down to reveal the core. It seemed a real shame to sand the gold embossing 'cos it really was like liquid gold, but I quite like the 'shabby chicness' of it now.
The red glass heart as also been gold embossed in patches, just to take the shine off a little.
If you play the song to the end, you'll see that they get back together (he must have appologised lol), the bird flies home, and they all live happily ever after SO I'm also entering this ino The Artistic Stamper  challenge, which is love.
Thanks very much for looking x
