Play Away

Hi and Happy Tuesday. A combination of Bank holidays and football meant that I was home alone this afternoon. Well what's a girl to do (after a happy dance) other than kidnap the Toblerone and go and have a play.

I'd been re-watching some Andy Skinner videos on You Tube over Christmas along with his latest Hochanda shows, and wanted to try the Triple Thick glaze and interference paint technique.

It was great fun to just play!
I'm entering this into the Simon Says Stamp Monday challenge which is start afresh - the Triple Thick is new, and also That's Crafty's Anything Goes challenge.
Thanks very much for looking and have a fab week x

There Are Always Flowers

Hello and Happy Wednesday. Here is another of my 'out of the freezing cold garage' creations. It was made for the latest PaperArtsy Squares and Grids challenge.

For the first time in years my alcohol inks have had an outing. It's been so long since I had used them that I'd forgotten how to! I was dripping the ink straight onto the card, I'd forgotten that it went onto the felt pad first lol.
The frame is by Tando, and this has been coloured with White Fire Fresco. Then I drew the grid on it, then painted it again.
The stamps are JoFY set 14 and Kim Dellow's Eclectica set 1. I know the butterfly is flying the wrong way up, but he's heading into a strong wind ( if he was the other way up he'd be dead lol)
I really like how this turned out, but I haven't put a sentiment on yet 'cos I'm not sure where it will end up. It's not very often I have a card made without immediately having to send it out.
Have a very happy day, and thanks very much for looking x

Starry Night Meets American Gothic

Good morning and Happy Monday. This is my last Halloween themed piece for this year, 'cos Christmas is coming (not that I'll be making my cards till mid December lol but the intention is there)
I recently won some fabulous Lost Coast Design stamps, so it would be very rude not to play with them.

I started by painting my Tando frame with DecoArt Media paints. Then lots of stencilling with a couple of Andy Skinner stencils.
You can't beat a bit of head swapping for Halloween.
I really like these Andy Skinner stencils with the silver metallic and interference paints. The shrunken skelli heads are shrink plastic.

Here's the whole happy family - even Basil's smiling!

This was great fun to make, so thank you Lost Coast for the fabulous stamps. I'm linking this to their 31 Days of Halloween scary or weird challenge, along with the Dream in Darkness challenge with the same theme.

Right, back in the garage for me, have a great week and thanks very much for looking xx

Into The Woods

Good afternoon and welcome to Super Saturday. As you see the Olympics rule in our house, so no one notices when I'm not there :-)

I made this for the Tando facebook challenge.

These are the colour for the challenge. Very pretty, but not perhaps my go to colours. But I really did enjoy working with them.
I put the Distress Inks down first, then did the white circles through a home-made stencil with white embossing ink. There is a name for this technique, but for the life of me I can't think of it.

The stamps used are both by Stampendous, they are Chilling, and the text on the frame is from Raven Background.

I really enjoyed this, and for once it came together pretty much as I had it in my head, so that's a result!

I'm also entering this into the Dream In Darkness and Craft Stamper TIMI challenge. I hope that a home made stencil counts :-)
Have a fab weekend, sneak off and play, no one will notice xx

The Best Is Yet To Come

Hi and happy Bank Holiday Weekend. It's been a day of sport here so no-one noticed that I was MIA. This is what I've been doing.

I've been practising the techniques I learned at a recent Karen Hayselden class. I had a lot of fun and still need a lot more practise but I think it's sport again tomorrow....
This is for the Tando Creative challenge, Things With Wings. I've also used one of their mini stencils in the corner. These are fab, lots to room around the edge to keep my dirty fingers on.
I'm also entering it into the SSS Wednesday challenge which is Anything Goes.
I hope you have a fab weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

What Lies Beneath...

Last month I was lucky enough to win the Tando Creative challenge, and part of my prize was some skulls. I've been dying to use these ever since, so when That's Crafty had a Friday 13th challenge I knew that they would be coming out.
All of the paints and mediums used are by DecoArt.
Lots of pictures coming up so I'll keep the words down :-)

The 'coffin' is an old wooden domino box, that's been painted with black gesso. This side has the Andy Skinner skull stencil that's had crackle glaze put through it then painted with a mix of Quin gold and transparent yellow oxide.
The lid has been been stencilled with the same colour mix, and the stamps are by Sheena Douglass.
Do you like Basil - he's a fox skull that my dad found about 15 years ago, and my son's had him ever since. He still has most of his teeth though they have had to be superglued in over the years lol.

This is the reverse of the lid, again it's a Sheena die and stamp.
This is the other side. The 'blood' is DecoArt red chalk paint.
The hand prints have been stencilled with texture sand and painted with a Quin Gold and Transparent Yellow Oxide wash.
This is an Andy Skinner stamp that's been stamped into texture paste and rubbed over with Metallic Lustre.
And this is what started it all off. This is my Tando skull that's been painted with crackle paint. The background is another Andy Skinner texture stamp.
This was such fun to make, and who knows what may end up inside - certainly not the dominoes.
I'm also entering this into the Lost Coast Designs Half O'Ween challenge.
Have a fab week, and thanks very much for looking x

My Favourite Place

Hellooooo and welcome to the weekend!!! After all my whingeing (whingeing, -  moi) about it being to cold to craft in the conservatory, I went in yesterday and it was 31.5 in the afternoon! You know what, that's too hot lol. This is what I made.

These are the Tando May colours. They are not colours that I would usually use, not because I don't like them - I do, but because I am such a creature of habit and I always reach for the reds and the blues.
All the paint used are from the DecoArt Media range. I used lots of Tinting Base on this one!
I painted up the Tando frame then sponged through a Tando mini stencil. I really like these mini stencils, there's lots of room around the edge so less chance of messing up.
All of the stamps are from Crafty Individuals and have been stamped onto an old gessoed German dictionary.
The arches have been painted in pink, I had lots of Tinting Base and literally ONE drop of Pyrole Red to make the pink. I've raised the arches with felt pads to make them stand out of the frames.
I love this stamp, it's an Alice Palace one from CI. They are such happy stamps.

I'm entering this into the following challenges;
That's Crafty - Go Figure
Tando Creative - week 1 colour challenge
Crafty Individuals - Anything Goes.

I hope you have a fab weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

Mr Darcy and the Bearded Lady

Hi and happy Bank Holiday Weekend. At the start of the year I watched Kate Crane on Wanderlust make a travel journal, and I really wanted to make one. I cut all my pages out but never got any further. Then earlier this month I did Kate's class in Mixology and I've been bitten by the Kate Crane bug (that sounded better in my head lol).
This is a blank folded book that I've had for years and never done anything with, so out came the paints.
All the stamps and paints used are by Indigo Blu.
The book was painted, stencilled, and stamped.
Lots of different surfaces to put some photographs on. There are very few up to date photographs of Neil and myself, so I think a few selfies are needed lol.
And this is the book all opened up. Lots of room for stamping when I decide which photographs are going in.

The covers have been cut from a Tando chipboard sheet, and covered with sticky backed canvas.

And here's my bearded lady. The more I tried to 'lightly shade' her, the more she looked like a bearded woman. In the end I just moved the frame down :-).

All tied up and done!
This was fun to make but impossible to photograph. Every time I tried to take a picture it either rained or snowed!
I'm entering my little book into these challenges
IndigoBlu Spring is in the Air - I've used my Spring colours, and
Tando Creative week 4 Spring has Sprung.
Thanks very much for looking, and have a fun weekend xx

On No, Not Cards For Men!

There aren't very many men in my life, but those that there are seem to have conspired to have their birthdays at the same time. Of course that means the dreaded 'manly' card is needed. So instead of my usual method of ignoring till the last possible moment, then missing the post, I decided to bite the bullet and do a bit of batch making (3 to me is a batch lol)

I love these Brett Weldele stamps, they just make me smile.

They have all been made with brusho's and Distress inks, and I've even put inserts in and written them. I must be getting organised in my old age!
You can't have a dog without having a cat!

I'm linking these to the Tando week 2 'watercolour' challenge.
Have a great weekend, and thanks very much for looking x

Beauty

Good morning and happy Thursday. I'm going to whisper this very quietly in case it hears me but .... the sun is shining and it isn't raining/hailing/snowing!! I don't know how long it will last but the washing is done, pegged out, and blowing.
Ever since I came back from Mixology (pictures to follow once I've finished all my colouring in - I know I sound like a 6 year old) I've been practising my Kate Crane techniques. Kate is officially one of the nicest people and best teachers ever.
This is what I made.

All the paints are from the DecoArt Media range.
The face is a Sheena Douglass stamp.
The branches are from Tando and have been covered in Frantage embossing powder.
The screw and bookplate is from Tando and came from last years Mixology kit. There's also a bit of Frantage going on here too.

I'd like to enter this into the following challenges
Tando - anything goes,
That's Crafty - about face, and
Mixed Media Monthly - dimension.

I hope you like it, and thanks very much for looking x

Don't Mind Her...

Well April is certainly living up to it's name today as we seem to be having rather persistent 'showers' I've been having a play today, and after having a brilliant weekend at Mixology (yep more pictures to come I'm afraid) I've dug deep into my Tando box and come up with this.
All the paints used are from the DecoArt Media range, and the stamps are from Lost Coast.
This couple look so grim, but they always make me laugh, and I thought that the Beetlejuice quote fitted them perfectly.

I'm entering my lovely couple into the Tando colour theme challenge, and
The Lost Coast Designs  'anything goes' challenge.
This was a lot of fun to make, so thanks very much for looking xx

Bloomin Flowers

Hi, Kristen has chosen the Stampotique  challenge theme this week, and she has picked flowers (no pun intended). Here's what she says.
Kristen is our hostess of the week and here is her challenge to you:
We may be nearing towards the end of summer, and for most, the flowers are fully bloomed, but for me, some of the best flowers are yet to come.  I love the gigantic sunflowers and the autumn mums, and for that reason, I challenge you to use flowers in your creations this week. Have fun !
I love flowers especially growing outdoors. It always seems a shame to me to cut them so I tend to have plants in the house. At the moment I've got a poincettia from two years ago that's hanging in there, and red and orange peppers lol.
Of all the techniques I've learned in blogland, I think one of my favourites is to make a masterboard, so this is what I started with.
I've stamped Carol's Flower large, and small, Flower Block, and Trees which are all by Janet Klein.
I've coloured them all in with Prisma pencils and added a few of Jo's Tiny Bees Now the bit I'm not fond of, cutting it all out!

I've used on of the big Tando arches and started to layer up. Bloom has been stamped with France's Typewriter Alpha.
I've finished off with Janet's Sunflower Large, and some of my clay flowers and leaves. Ta da, it only took me about 5 days and a trashed room lol I am the slowest crafter ever but I love it!
I'm also entering this into the Tando challenge which is Lovely Layers.
I hope you play along too and join in with your flowers.
Have a great day x

Live In Colour

The second challenge at CC3C is distress glitter. I don't have too many of these, but here's what I've come up with. This time around the challenge is being sponsored by The Funky Junkie Boutique

I've done a bit of paper weaving and stamping for the background, and made a stencil of Umbrella Man to use with embossing paste.
This is to go on my 'baby's' 21st birthday present so there's the traditional key in the corner. He's had my car keys since he past his test, so he can have this one too lol.
I'm also entering this into the Tando challenge where the challenge is to incorporate a key.
Hope you like it, and thanks very much for looking x
