52 Weeks of Happiness ~ Week 5

I'm a fan of holidays. Decorations, food, traditions.. I love it all. But man, are holidays sure different as a mom. Let's take Easter for example: What's going to go in the basket? Where to hide it? Do they have the same amount of stuff? Should we go to an Easter egg hunt this year or not? What fun meal can I make? The list in my head goes on and on. My favorite things about a holidays now are the easiest things.
Again using Easter: our egg tree.

The egg tree outside is a tradition passed down from my mom.

Oddly enough, it's the only one on our street.

It's so simple and colorful and cheerful and bright.
Like these two little goofs who I tried to pose for a picture...

...they're playing ring around the rosie instead.

Or doing their best bunny hop.

Uh oh, one is getting away.

This little bunny will pose for pics. The other will not.

Thankfully she has a big brother to grip her in tight show her the way.

Easter 2011

We dyed eggs on Saturday:

We also made Jelly Bean Bark
It's candy melts with food coloring swirled in and jelly beans on top.
Warning: ingest only if you have not reached your sugar quota for the day.

On Easter morning Ry had to go on a scavanger hunt for his basket.. it was in the dryer!

The kids got new baskets made by Grandma Decker:

Easter Eats

Yes I'm way behind on holiday posting (as usual)... but I DO want to get it on here and I'm SORTA getting back into my blog so here goes..

I made the kids their first muffin tin meal a few days before Easter. The theme was.. can you guess? EASTER! The Muffin Tin Mom blog was one of the first blogs I came across when I got sucked into BlogLand. I loved the idea and eventually picked up some 6 cup muffin tins but didn't get around to doing one until now. The concept is simple: muffin tins are small kid size portions, it breaks the regular 'ol plate routine and makes the meal fun! The blog hosts Muffin Tin Monday where people link up their meal of the week. There are a ton of idea!  Anyhoo.. here's our first muffin tin meal:

Apple slices (that I wanted to look like this but didn't get time), PB & J's (artistically enhanced with my new food markers which are so fun!), orange soda (I was going to attach a green paper 'stem' to the top.. again not enough time), yogurt with 'egg' sprinkles, bunny crackers, and bunny marshmallows for desert.

(FYI: No soda for MissB)

I'd say it was a hit! I'm psyched to try out a bunch of the theme ideas! I've had this one on my mind since seeing it.. isn't it the best???
