Jan-Feb

Are we still alive?  yes we are!  Wow what a year 2012 has been and it is only going to get more hectic.  January is pretty fuzzy to me right now, I don't remember what we did for New Year's or if we traveled anywhere.  I do know we went to a BYU basketball game and met up with my cousin Kristine and her now-husband Kirk, but only because i have a picture for proof, see? :)

February is a little more etched in my brain, several things happened that month.  The first event was a sealing .  Our really good friends from American Fork had adopted a baby 6 months prior and we got to be there as he was sealed to them.  I hadn't ever witnessed a sealing before (aside from marriages) and it was really neat.  Here is a picture of Thomas and him, they were/are very good playmates.

Next came Thomas's hernia surgery.  Sometime at the beginning of the month he noticed that he could make part of his lower stomach pop out.  It wasn't painful at first but as time went on, it started to.  So we made an appt. to see a doctor and a couple of days later he went in for surgery to repair it.  We really didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a more painful and slow recovery than we hoped.  Poor guy was sore for at least 3 weeks and it still bothers him every now and again, 6 months later.  This pic was taken 2 days after surgery.

The last big event of the month (only 5 days after his surgery) was finding out that we were going to be parents!   I was a few days late and we had a pregnancy test (that was at least 3 years old) so I decided to give it a try.  This was the result:

It was actually pretty cruel because it said that if the big circle had a strong plus sign in it, then you were pregnant..... well the sign was BARELY visible so I had no idea if it was positive, almost positive or what!  It was 3 years old afterall, how reliable could it really be?  I decided that I probably needed another test to verify it.  The next day I called my doctor (I was also having a lot of sharp abdominal pain at the time) and she said to just come in and have my blood tested.  1 more day after that confirmed that I was indeed pregnant.  I was in shock and didn't really know what to do (I got the call during my lunch break at school sitting by my coworkers so I couldn't really react). I called Thomas to tell him the news and he couldn't really get excited either because he was with his dad and we didn't want to tell people just yet, so by the time both of us got home from work and school we were bursting at the seams!  We figured we could hide it from our families for a while (we wanted to make sure it really was going to happen) because we only saw them every so often and I didn't have any morning sickness that would give it away.  The only people who knew before family were our friends that we saw pretty much on a daily basis and knew what was going on.  Thomas didn't think I would make it without accidentally giving it away to my mom or someone, but I am proud to say that I made it just as long as he did!  Ha ha ha.

Anyway, that was the first two months of 2012.....
