White Christmas

White Christmas - It is everyone's favorite challenge, Anything Goes at Creative Card Crew. This challenge will run for 3 weeks, so you will have lots of time to get something in. I know that many of us will not have time for crafting, but should you get a few minutes in, come and join us at Creative Card Crew. We are sponsored by the Scrapping Center, which has lots of crafty goodies.

I wanted to get just one last Christmas card in before the season is over. I have had this stamp set for several years, yet have never used it. I love the tree. So many beautiful swirls. I added gemstone to all of the baubles that are on the tree and topped it with a gemstone star.

I heat embossed with SU's glitter embossing powder on the bottom layer of the card. It is hard to see, but in real life, it really sparkles. I bought this snowflake/pearl garland several years back and I really enjoyed using it.

The card was finished up with SU glimmer paint that was mixed with alcohol and misted the entire card. That is the hint of silver that you see.

Sweet Rocker

Sweet Rocker - Before I get started on my card, I want to share the ongoing disaster relief programs from the May tornadoes in my home town of Moore, Oklahoma.

I want to start that if you are unfamiliar with my account of that day (May 20) I have a post on my blog with my grandson's TV interview.  Here is the link to my tornado story.

The damage that day was so severe. They have done a fabulous job of clearing up the debris, but the empty land serves as a constant reminder of that day. All of the leaves and bark were stripped from all the trees in the tornado path. At least with winter, all the other trees are also bare, so it is not as obvious as it was before. LOL

My church did a Christmas event for those affected by the tornadoes. We know from past experience (this is Moore's 3rd tornado in 15 years) that when it is time to pull out Christmas decorations, these families are hit anew with the loss, so we had donations of Christmas decorations brought to our church and they were allowed to "shop" and take what they wanted. We also had new family bibles and creches that we gave out. We had planned for 150 families, but we had more than 250 families come. It was very busy and we were out of everything. All of this in an ice storm. And to think that we considered cancelling because of the weather. We are really glad that we didn't.

It is amazing how weepy myself and others still are with all of this. My daughter lost her home and still I was tearing up at some of the stories going around. I guess you just can't get used to the grief and tragedy that is in the wake of these storms.

My grandson who was in that ill-fated hall is doing great and has no lasting problems. Some children have had extensive counseling. We are very blessed.

The 2 little ones with me in the car, as we were chased down the road, also have no problems. I think they felt safer than I did.

My daughter is living in a rental house and is looking to build a new home on a different lot. I am happy, because this house will be a lot closer to us than the one that she lost. Her insurance has been very difficult, but she has a lawyer working on helping her recover more money.

Lindsay, my daughter, has had a great pouring of outreach and support. We have seen firsthand, the goodness of people. Thank you to everyone who prayed and reached out to us. I can't tell you how much it means.

Enough of that, back to my card!

This is my DT card for Creative Card Crew. Our challenge this fortnight is Sweet Treats and we are sponsored by the Scrapping Center

I thought it would be fun to do a rocker card for this challenge. I don't know if I have done one before, but I really like doing different folds. My DP is Pressed Petals, Baby Girl.

My image is Harriet, by Crafty Sentiments. I colored Harriet with Copics, added Stickles to her hairpieces and trim on her skirt. Her sucker got a coat of Diamond Glaze to make it shiny. All of my papers were inked with Vintage Photo distress inks and some pink Fran-tage.

The rocker was made with grand SB. The sprig is also a SB. The sentiment and punches for it, is SU. I added some pom pom trim along the edge.

The pink rose, I picked up at the Scrap booking convention that I attended in June. The white flowers were cut from a stem. I also used my Salmon pearl pen on it.

Thanks for visiting me!

Soft Pink and Lilac

Soft Pink and Lilac - Today at Creative Card Crew, we have a new challenge and that challenge is pearls. I love to use pearls in my work. It adds such a touch of elegance to any project.

I have made another magnet board for another one of the teachers that protected the children at my grandchildren's Day Care during that horrible tornado in May. The building was gone, but the children suffered only minor injuries due to the heroics of the staff. I had picked up my grandchildren shortly before the tornado hit, so they were not there, but you can bet that it is comforting to know that they did everything in their power to keep the children safe.

This teacher likes purple and pink, so I used some pink trim by Melissa Frances and added some pearl sprays.

This image is Saturated Canary and I colored her with Copics. I added some Stickles to her wings and the little pom pom on her sock.

This is one of the matching magnets. I used more of the trim.

We are sponsored by the Scrapping Center, with a prize of a $15 gift voucher to their shop. They have oodles of crafty goodness there.

Sun for my Son

Sun for my Son - This card was made for my son's birthday. He lives in Alaska where the trees are already bare.

My card for Creative Card Crew is a simple one. I used lots of distress inks and the stamp is stampitous it has been in my stamp drawer for away. It is always fun to work with inks and the blending tool.

Carolers

Carolers - We have a new challenge for you at Creative Card Crew. Our challenge for this fortnight is a nice, easy one. Christmas!!!! Christmas is such a beautiful time of year. So we are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing work.

Our sponsor for this challenge is the Scrapping Center. You would not believe their range of products!

I started my card with this fun weaving. I used double sided designer paper by K and Company. This blog is Peppermint Twist. I highlighted each fold with a frosted pearl.

My image is SU. It is a discontinued set. I stamped it in glue then burnished in a fine red glitter. I added in a few more frosted pearls.

My sentiment is also SU. I hand cut the banner.

Kaylee

Today's challenge at Creative Card Crew is in honor of my beautiful, new granddaughter, Kaylee. We have 5 grandson's, but Kaylee is our first granddaughter.

Kaylee was born on the 28th of June. Because my son is in the Army and stationed in Alaska, we have not met her yet, but she is arriving here in Oklahoma on Thursday. We can't wait. After the horror of the tornado, it is really nice to have something positive.

The challenge is to make  a project for a baby, or you can make something with the dominate color of pink or blue (in honor of the new prince.) We are sponsored by the Scrapping Center.

My DP is K and Company. I added some ultra fine glitter on the edge of the white lace side border. I also added some pink pearls in the centers of the flowers on the lace.

I added some cheesecloth under the photo of Kaylee. There is a doily placed under the title of Kaylee. The letters were cut with the songbird cartridge with my Cricut. I painted them with some champagne shimmer paint and inked the edges with Worn Lipstick.

MY corner spray is made with feathers, a MD die, a CL die and flowers that were made using an awesome tutorial by Norma Lee. I used Worn Lipstick distress ink for my color and added pearls for my centers.

Sweeping Through

Sweeping Through - This is my DT card for Creative Card Crew. Our sponsor for this challenge is Scrapping Center. A great place to get your crafting goodies. Not only for paper crafting, but for all crafts.

Our challenge for this fortnight is NO DESIGNER PAPERS. I didn't realize how dependant I am on my papers to formulate my projects. I found myself just staring at my image, thinking what colors do I use?

My image is Saturated Canary's "Sweet Oklahoma." Sweet Oklahoma was created by Krista as a fund raiser, to help my daughter rebuild after she lost her house in the recent tornado that struck my town of Moore Oklahoma.

The fund raiser is now over, but the image is really cute and a great one to have in your collection.

I colored her with Copics and added Stickles to her bow and Diamond Glaze to her boots. You can't see the Diamond Glaze on the boots, but they feel like plastic boots.

I put some white ink on my brick embossing folder, then ran some navy card stock through it . I like the effect. Without the ink, the design got lost in the depth.

I finished of the card with a ribbon, tied with my Bow Easy and a charm attached. The dots on top of the image are Dew Drops.

Disney 2012

Disney 2012 - Today's challenge at Creative Card Crew is Bling!!! We are sponsored by the Scrapping Center. They have an awesome array of crafty goodness.

For my bling project, I made a scrap book page. In October, we took our 5 grandchildren to Disney World. We had a wonderful time and now I will be spending the next 6 months scrap booking the amazing memories that we have.

My Fairy DP is Sandy Lions, Fairy Glow and Mickey Characters. The Tinkerbell was cut with my trusty Cricut machine and the Tinkerbell cartridge. I inked her with Tea Dye distress ink. I used yellow glitter paper for her dress (I bet you thought it was green,) and I added clear gemstones for the balls on her slippers.

I used more of the yellow glitter paper and the Disney font cartridge to cut the Disney logo and year.

How about this for Bling? I found this treasure at the scrap booking convention. It really sparkles in RL.

The page would not be complete with a photo of this cute little guy with his personal Tinkerbell in his hands. Disney had the kids hold out their hands, then added this special surprise. The kids were all thrilled when they looked at their picture and seen this. They took one of these for each of the 3 oldest boys.

Secret

Secret - Wohoo! it is time for another challenge at Creative Card Crew. This fortnights challenge is masculine projects. We all know how difficult those can be to make, but the team really knocked it out of the ball park. How it that for a masculine metaphor?

I made a secret message card for my grandson. He love sports of all kinds and what little boy doesn't love a secret compartment.

My image is Give Big Boy by Saturated Canary. I colored him with Copics.

My Designer Paper is Karen Foster, Sports.

My slider is SU and you can barely see my sheer ribbon. It is a bale blue.

When you open the gate fold you see this messages, but wait, open the inside and ....

More messages!!!!

So Koi

So Koi - At Creative Card Crew we are challenging every to create a card/project with the theme of Chinese New Year.

I for one, am very excited about this challenge. Having lived in Japan and South Korea, it was always such a big deal to my friends of the host nation, so it is something that I though would be fun to focus a challenge on something that those of us who live in the West might not think about.

My image is Koi Grouping, with the cordinating Water Lillies Grouping stamp, by Mostly Animals. It has been a while since I have done old fashion stamping and masking, with so many beautiful digi's out there, I just don't do it very often.

I stamped using Memento black ink and colored the images with Copics. I added some fine glitter on the water to give it so sparkle. I am a little disappointed with the way it photographed. The lights have faded the colors.

My papers are DCVW Far East pad. The center circle actually has a dragon on it, but the image covers most of it. The circle was cut with SB Grand Decorative Circles One. You can get a lot of SB Grands from our sponsor Scrapping Center.
