Welcome to my blog!!!

I have collected baseball cards and autographs over the years. I still have boxes full of cards (as well as newer cards) that are just sitting there. So, I have decided to see how many of them I can get autographed. I use through the mail as my preferred route for this adventure. I also have an account on Zistle and The Trading Card Database for trading purposes (stevienicks77).

A couple of TTM's back

First up, a return from last baseball season...a return from Cubs broadcaster Jim Deshaies.

My second return was a return from Dennis Martinez.  I saw he had been signing quite a bit, but he sent my cards back, unsigned, with a note that stated to send to pastpros.com.  Really bummed about this because I had sent a No Hitter card and a nice looking Upper Deck.

Clayton Kershaw

Quite a while back, I saw many fellow TTM'ers getting Clayton Kershaw's autograph.  Someone even commented I should try to get Clayton Kershaw.  Well, I decided to pull the trigger, and I never got anything back.  Over 2 years later, I got my card back, unsigned, with this insert.

Little White Envelopes

Ah, nothing like a huge USPS blip (this may be a conversation for another post) to fill my mailbox with a ton of little white envelopes that have probably been sitting at my post office for a week.  Three of four came on the same day.

Ricky Horton is probably best known for pitching for the Cardinals.  He played in a total of 3 World Series (2 with the Cardinals, 1 with the Dodgers), and won a ring with the Dodgers in 1988.  I think these are all nice looking cards.

I sent these next cards out in May of 2013, so needless to say, I had written them off long ago.  However, I did get my cards back from Mike Henneman, but he now uses The Athlete Connection, LLC to handle his autograph requests.  I did get this black and white paper photo in my little white envelope.

Nicky Lopez is a return from the Arizona Fall League.  He's an up and comer in the Royals organization.  He also is a Creighton Blue Jay Alumni.

Finally, Aramis Garcia.  He's a catcher in the Giants organization.  He spent most of the year between A and Aa ball this year.  He did get an invite to play in the AFL.

Ron Hassey and Sid Bream

My first TTM of the baseball season came back from Ron Hassey, manager of the New Orleans Zephyrs, AAA team of the Miami Marlins.  I, of course, sent him a bunch of A's cards to sign, since they are one of my favorite teams!

I also sent out mail to Sid Bream, however, he requires a fee for signing ($1/per card, $3/per baseball, etc).  He donates the money to Outdoor Dream Foundation or Liberty University baseball.

A long list of TTMs

I haven't been able to post in a while, or send anything out.  I have been out of state dealing with my ill grandfather.  :(

While I have been gone, I got a number of TTMs back.  Let's get to it!

First up, Jim Corsi.  I targeted Jim because he was a member of two of my favorite teams, the A's and Marlins.  Interesting auto!  I'm not sure how many days it was out; this TTM was a victim of my lost spreadsheet!

Barry Lyons, former New York Met and catcher.  I love both of those things!

This next one was one that I thought was long gone, which was a bummer because I sent a 2011 Heritage and Allen & Ginter.  Thank you, Jonathan Sanchez, for signing my cards!  He started the year with the Royals, and was traded to the Rockies.  It's too bad things didn't work out for him here in Kansas City.  I always worry when players get traded, the mail doesn't go with them.

I sent mail, again to Mark Melancon and Kevin Tapani.  I was successful, again!  Thanks guys!

I also received another return to sender.  I was really hoping to score Chris Donnels TTM.  He's a former Met.

Lastly, I sent mail to Michael Cuddyer.  I had been reading that he signs one card.  I sent one card, only to get it back unsigned, and it says to enjoy the enclosed baseball card.  The only one enclosed was mine!  He now does autographs for charity.  The Tigers do the same thing.  Here's the link to the Rockies charity (who signs and how much):

My 100th post!!!

It seems like it's all or none in the TTM department lately.  I get 1 or 2 a day, then will have a cold streak for a week or two.

First up, Daniel Moskos.  I targeted him because he's one of the Pirates rookie pitchers.  He's now in the minors, but I think he'll be in Pittsburgh soon enough.

Second one in from Spring Training is Rick Porcello.  However, no TTM for me, just my cards back and a letter requesting a donation to the Detroit Tigers Foundation.  Here is a link to the page:

This is actually a great link; you can look to see who charges and how much, so you won't waste the time to send to someone who may not sign for free!

Finally, a NFL TTM back, courtesy of Kevin Butler.  I always like him because he was such a great kicker for the Bears for many years.
