Romance Books

Today  I’m doing a rerun of a book bundle project I did last year.    It involves a bit of  “Romancing”.     Romancing the Book Bundles,  that it.    It takes only a few minutes and adds a bit of Valentine’s Spirit.   Pottery Barn probably hasn’t thought of this yet or they would be charging  $39  $79 a bundle.

All it takes is a bit of ribbon,  a bit of twine,  a piece of sheet music,  some printed script and an old photograph, or whatever inspiration you have on hand  to add…

…a bit of romance to your books.  They will work well in a number of your vignettes.  The book with  the ribbon and script was in my
Wedding Anniversary  post and is also in my current header.

Far Above Rubies

Please meet my Grandmother.   January 23 would have been here Birthday.  Needless to say, she left a lifetime impression on me, and has always been my greatest Inspiration.
The best description of her can be made in
Proverbs 31:10  “….For her worth is far above rubies”
grandmother 021

In the picture below she was probably  about 5 years old.

When I Married, she gave me a lovely, delicate handkerchief of linen and lace which was made in Germany.  She had a box of these that she saved to give her Granddaughters as their “Something Old”   to carry  when they married.  As a little girl,  she would indulge me when often I wanted to look at this box of handkerchiefs.

When she passed away,   I was given the Gold Wedding Band  that my Grandfather gave her when they Married.
It is inscribed with his initials:  EK.

Because of her,  my goal is to be
an ancient woman of wisdom.

Adopted Ancestors

Adopted ancestors are difficult for me to leave behind when found at flea markets and garage sales, so they usually come home with me.

What were their dreams?

What were their trials and tribulations?

What  joys did they experience?

If they could  speak to us...

What stories would they tell?

Little Surprises

Sometimes you receive little surprises.
Like a new bloom…

Or an envelope  stuffed full of Vintage Photographs.  It was from a distant relative whom I haven’t seen in years.  She was  cleaning for a move and had a box full of old photographs without any idea of the identities.   So, she mailed them all to me.
I haven’t a clue who 99.99% of them are.  It is my guess they are from the other side of her family.  But, since I adore vintage photographs,  they were placed into an apothecary jar for display.

And, there were some real cuties among the offerings!

Don’t you just love surprises?
Until next time, Honey

Romancing the Book Bundles

Today I did a bit of  “Romancing”.     Romancing the Book Bundles,  actually.    It takes only a few minutes and adds a bit of Valentine’s Spirit.   Pottery Barn probably hasn’t thought of this yet or they would be charging  $39  $59 a bundle.

Vintage Vignette & Free Download For You

This is a repost of my post, dated November 16, 2010, connecting to Chari's Sunday Favorites at Happy to Design
Other Business:   Don't Miss the $30 Gift Card
Vintage Vignette & Free Download For You

This Vintage Tabletop is in a guest bedroom, which is also quite vintage.  The bed,
dresser and side table are all Antiques, and live along with a few other goodies.
Elements of the arrangement  include a White Birdcage with a rusted peaked roof…We all
seem  afflicted with a  bit of Rust Love.
003
Add layered crocheted pieces, some passed down from family
and some acquired.
015
Throw some Magnolias and rolled sheet music into the Birdcage.
019
Tuck in a  vintage crocheted piece that looks somewhat like  a Lace Hanky,   Hang  a Pearl
Necklace and add a couple of Vintage Bottles.
024
Don’t forget the Old Wedding Ring Pillow!
007
To complete the arrangement add   Cherished Vintage Family Photos along with a few
Adopted Relatives who needed a Good   Home and someone to Love them.
035
All reflected in the Vintage Dresser Mirror, and Voila!
002
Since I am a new to Blogging,  anxious to make friends  and receive your comments,  here’s
a little GIFT from Me to  You.    Please use it in your Art,  and show me what you do with
it,  si vous s'il vous plaît.   To be honest  since my college French is as rusty as  the
birdcage,  I used Google Translate.
