Freakin' Animal Antics

I'm having a WEEK! Holy cow!! I am LATE getting my post up, mostly because I got stuck for HOURS last night about 26 miles from home due to some INSANE road construction on my way home from Bear Lake! I had planned to work on my projects, and instead I ended up watching "Quiet Place II" on my phone in my car because YES that is just how SLOW the traffic was!! Had to work today and run a couple of errands after work, so I was VERY late getting started! Looks like  Melissa Stout and I were feeling the same vibes for this month's "Animal Antics" theme, as we BOTH used the "Count On Me" set!! It's SOOOO cute!
These little dancing penguins remind me of "It's a Jolly Holiday" from the original "Mary Poppins" movie. That has long been a favorite of mine ... and I had to add some brightly primary colors because I just can't imagine these cute little penguins any other way!

Stamps: Count On Me
Paper: Whisper White, Poppy Parade,
Real Red, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Watercolor
Ink: Black Memento, Versamark, Stampin' Blends in
Smoky Slate, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody, Pacific Point, Granny Apple Green, Pool Party
Accessories: Stitched Triangle Dies, Messages Dies, Basic Borders Dies, Real Red Double Stitched Satin Ribbon, Whisper White Embossing Powder, Wink of Stella

I had to show y'all a close up so you could see the twinkly Wink of Stella on the penguins and balloons ... I love this sparkly stuff!!

I must apologize for this card.  I was nearly done with it when I realized (GASP!!) that the Well Suited DSP had RETIRED (I haz a sad!)!! Which is another reason I am late posting ... I needed to make something that didn't have any retired bits on it.

The first time I really "noticed" this adorable stamp set is when I saw the adorable tags made and posted by Esther Collmar from Germany! She made little DSP overalls for this stinkin' cute bear!! I knew I HAD to "copycat" her in some way, so here is what I came up with!

Stamps: Count On Me
Paper: Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White, Watercolor, Well Suited DSP (retired)
Ink: Black Memento, Stampin' Blends in Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade
Accessories: Basic Borders Dies, Stitched Whimsy
Dies, Stitched So Sweetly Dies, Playful Alphabet Dies, Trio Corner Punch

The saga continues ... I went in for an MRI on my terrible-horrible-no-good-very-bad foot last Thursday. I have the privilege of going back to my foot doc tomorrow morning to see what the final verdict is (I'm thinking ... dare I say HOPING?) that surgery to correct whatever is messed up! After 18 months of anti-inflammatories, icing, heating, elevating, massaging, night splints, day splints, orthopedic boots, steroids and physical therapy, I feel that this will be the ONLY way I can start moving forward (and dare I say RUNNING???) and get my stinkin' life back to a more normal thing! Wish me LUCK!!

Lucky me because I am once again in the center of a "Melissa" sandwich! Next up is Melissa Davies! Her darling Turtle & Friends creations are spot on!! I love them, and you will, too!

Here Come the Elephants!

Oh BABY-BABY!!! These elephants are SOOOO STINKIN' CUTE!!! They just make me happy! And I couldn't think of anything more adorable to use for my grandniece's first birthday! This last year has just WHIZZED by!!

I used the sample photo in this year's catalog as inspiration for this card ... I flipped the orientation and added a few things to make it more my own. Don't ya just LOVE finding something that inspires you in your craftiness??? I know that I do for SURE!!

I cheated a little bit on this and used the now-retired Smoky Slate gingham ... I just couldn't HELP myself because it was the PERFECTO match for this card.  You could actually use the gingham DSP and create the same look.  Cut it about 3/8" and accordion fold it about halfway across.

Stamps: Little Elephant
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo, Blushing Bride, Smoky Slate, Neutrals DSP, Vellum
Ink: Smoky Slate, Melon Mambo
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Dies, Elephant Builder Punch, Smoky Slate Gingham Ribbon (retired), Corrugated Embossing Folder, Large Numbers Dies (also retired! Sorry guys!)

We are doing a Young Eagles Rally tomorrow with some of our airplane friends. Basically, it's where pilots donate their planes, time and fuel to give free rides to kids between the ages of 8-18. It's fun for the kids, it's fun for the pilots ... and it's even fun for the support crew (of which I am a part!)! I have been making t-shirts to sell for the kids ... so I have spent ALL my "free" time this past week putting those together (I have made 60 of them!)!! Hoping the forecast stays the same and that we will have sunny skies! Have a GREAT weekend!

Just Because I CAN!

I got home from work last night, found something to eat and then settled back to watch some Netflix (after the last couple of weeks, I was SOOOOOO in need of a "decompress" kinda night). Then it hit me ... I have NEW stamps and a CLEAN craft room ... and NOWHERE ELSE I have to be!!! When does this happen???? Like EVER???? So I did what any good crafty person would do ... I picked up my iPad and headed down to ye ole craft room and made a card!!! Look at me GO!!! Hahaha ... I need to do this more often!

Playing with new things is FUN! (DUH??!??) I hadn't intended on making a "baby" card per se ... but when all was said and done, that is what I ended up with! I am LOVING the cute little Twinkle Building punch (even the NAME of it is ADORBS!)! A moon and some stars ... simple and amazing! Stars just make me happy. And this DSP???? A-MAZ-ING!!! It's SOOOOOOO pretty!! This Night of Navy background with the little stars on it was ALMOST too pretty to cut into ... ALMOST!!! It is my favorite pattern in this particular pack of paper, so I just went for it!!!

Stamps: Little Twinkle
Paper: Whisper White, Balmy Blue, Crushed Curry, Vellum, Twinkle Twinkle DSP,  Sparkle Glimmer Paper
Ink:  Balmy Blue
Accessories: Twinkle Builder Punch, Stitched Labels Framelits Dies, Stitched Framelits Dies, Maps Etc. Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Silver Ribbon

So ... back to what I posted yesterday (was that just yesterday??). I have had an idea in my head FOREVER as a gift for my hubby. He does SO much for everyone else and ALWAYS puts himself last. I have to DRAG him to do things for himself sometimes!! Anywho ... many of you already know that he has his private pilot's license AND built his own plane (an experimental ... and RV-9A to be exact). It is stored in a hangar out at a tiny little airport in North Salt Lake. Hangars are HUGE, people!! The walls are wide and HIGH ... and up until this weekend the walls at the hangar were EMPTY!!

We have been collecting aviation "stuff" for quite a while. I have been wanting to hang it up in some sorta collage for a very long time. And now I have COMPLETED it!! I couldn't be happier with the results ... and my hubby could NOT have been MORE surprised for his birthday last Sunday!!! He had NO clue what I was up to ... but by Sunday morning he was going a little crazy as he figured I was doing SOMEthing!!! He just had no idea WHAT!!! Don't ya just LOVE when you have an idea and it turns out even BETTER than you imagined it??? It was exhausting but VERY worth it!

I have NO other blogs to link you to today (weird, isn't it??)!! I crafted because I COULD ... and it was FUN ... and it was GOOD ... and all is right with the world!

Monday Montage #121

Ya ever have those evenings when you are so wiped out that even your HAIR is complaining of being tired???? You, too??? I am having that kinda day. We just spent the past week driving over 1,200 miles (in each direction) from Salt Lake City, Utah to Oshkosh, Wisconsin for the most EPIC EVER AirShow/Convention EVER!!! That also converts into 21 1/2 hours EACH WAY ... and I racked up over 176,000 steps on my Fitbit (NOT kidding!)! We just got home a couple of hours ago! Unpacked the car and the luggage ... threw dirty clothes in the washer ... then in the dryer ... and have been organizing things back to where they belong!! I DO have a card that I made earlier to share with you and this week's Hop with the Monday Montage girls ... and I am just now sitting down and typing everything up (it's after 10:00pm)!!

I was contacted by someone who read my blog and likes my style to make a very special 1st Birthday Card for her nephew. His name is Kingston, and his mom has his sweet little bedroom decorated with all sorts of zoo and jungle animals. What's better for a "King" than to be a LION, right??? So I created this little King of the Jungle (King of the WORLD??)for this little guy's first birthday!!

Monday Montage #89

Since I went to a baby shower on Saturday and had NO baby cards in my "stash", I decided it was time to make a baby card. AND I finally broke out my brand new Stampin' Up Watercolor Pencils. And I have also decided that I need MORE colors!! Hoping that they come out with some ... #allthecolors

I wasn't sure whether to make a baby boy card or a baby girl card ... so I decided to make one that could be used for either. I guess this probably leans more toward a "boy" ... or maybe not ...

Stamps: Moon Baby
Paper: Watercolor, Night of Navy, Carried Away DSP
Ink: Basic Black, Night of Navy, Watercolor Pencils
Accessories: Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, Sending Love Ribbon Combo Pack

The wind here in Salt Lake City has been blowing like CRAZY since yesterday!!! I have half expected seeing the Wicked Witch of the West flying by every time I go outside. Actually, I have also been thinking about Mary Poppins and the flying nannies ... THAT'S how windy it has been. At least the sky was blue, and I'll take that ANY day!!

Click "Back" for Melissa Stout and "Next" for Amy O'Neill ... I wouldn't mind being either ONE of them when I grow up!!

Monday Montage #81

Boo to you and Happy Halloween!!! Welcome to another edition of Monday Montage!!! Y'all KNOW how much I love Halloween ... I mean, it IS my favorite holiday! Despite that ... I had to make a non-Halloween/Fall card ... I just felt it was time to move on because EVERYthing I have made for the last long while feels the SAME!!

And this is what I came up with. I have seen several people posting samples of how they turned the Fox Building punch into a teddy bear ... HAD to try one myself! Couldn't decide if I wanted to go with a "boy" themed card or a "girl" themed card ... so I made one that would work for EITHER!!

Stamps: Sunshine Sayings, Swirly Bird
Paper: Tip Top Taupe, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Soft Suede
Ink: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Soft Sky
Accessories: Fox Builder Punch, Swirly Scribbles Thinlits, Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits Dies, Circle Framelits, Owl Builder Punch, Cableknit Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

This is the first year in about the last TEN years that my next-door neighbor hasn't done a SUPERDELUXE spook alley sorta deal in his yard. While I am KINDA sad about it, I am also hoping that that means we will NOT be getting over 500 trick-or-treaters this year. I don't mind a lot of trick-or-treaters unless they are 20-somethings ... which is what we seem to get a LOT of when the spook alley next door happens!! Who knows?? We may get just as many anyway, since I have a feeling some of the "regulars" will be stopping by looking for the spook alley that once was. At least my house is all decorated and lit up ... time will tell!!

Click "Back" for Melissa Stout and "Next" for Amy O'Neill ... you will NOT be disappointed no matter WHICH direction you choose (just be sure to go ALL THE WAY around to see what these girls have come up with!)!

MDS Blog Hop - What Am I Working On??? December 2014

To be honest, I am ACTUALLY working on Christmas cards!!! Which actually DO have MDS components to them ... which I am NOT quite ready to share with the world ... so I am sharing something I did a few weeks back ... for which MDS came GALLOPING to the rescue since I was asked to do this as a favor for someone the day before it as needed (isn't that ALWAYS how we do things???).

I changed all the names, as well as the addresses and phone numbers I used for this fun little baby shower invite (to protect the "innocent", right??). I was able to pull this together LICKETY SPLIT ... which is one of the reasons I absolutely LOVE MDS so VERY much!!! I had this printed two-to-a-page ...

Quick. Easy. Fun. HANDY!!!

Monday Montage #21

Hooray for sunny weather, frozen hot chocolates, wearing shorts and MONDAY MONTAGE!!! And ... oh yeah ... playing with MORE new stuffs!!! It's sad that I've had some of it for WEEKS and haven't touched it!!! So HOORAY for TODAY!!

I decided to do a "non-traditional" baby card. Ok ... this DOES look like a baby card ... however, I decided to make it a BIRTHDAY baby card for one of my little cousins (we have a BIG family ... lots of ca-YOOT Weixler littles!!). So I "built" a sentiment using three different stamps from the "Endless Wishes" Photopolymer Set (which IS going to be available again soon!). Also added the fun background on the Crumb Cake using the beautiful new "Boutique Borders". I can tell I am gonna have a LOT of fun with that one!!! And new washi tape (it's called "Beach House" ... I used one of the three tapes available - Pool-Party-colored ... LOVE 'em ALL!)!!! My sewing machine is still sitting out from the last card I made, so I couldn't help from using it a little bit again as well!! And HAPPYHAPPYHAPPY new embossing folder .... LOVE  Sigh ... sometimes I just don't know when to STAWWP!!!

Stamps:  Something for Baby, Boutique Borders, Endless Birthday Wishes
Paper:  Crumb Cake, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Ink:  Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist
Accessories:  Baby's First Framelits, Large Oval Punch, Banner Punch, Large Polka Dot Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Corner Rounder Punch, Beach House Washi Tape, Linen Thread

And EEEEEeeep!! I signed up for my first 1/2 Marathon ... it's NEXT SATURDAY!!! Oy-yoi-yoi ... not sure I'm ready, but I AM going to do it!!

Freakin' Peek-a-BOO!!

OhmyGOODNESS!!!!! Are you all getting TOTALLY STOKED for the new catalog to go "live" on June 1??? Well, SO are the Control Freaks!! (Did ya SEE what Justin Krieger did??) This month we are all sharing some of the creations we have made with our new "Sneak Peek" supplies ... (being a SU demo DOES have it's perks ... one of which is being able to purchase SOME of the new stuff about a month before the catalog comes out!). Let's keep rolling!

I ordered the Baby's First Framelits Dies AND the Something for Baby stamp set as part of my preview goodies ... and, sadly, the stamp set is on backorder (I only ordered it last week, so it should be here SOON!). I had to come up with SOMEthing I could make with the framelits withOUT having to rely on the coordinating stamp set ... so here is what I made!! I cut the little speech bubble using MDS and my Silhouette (yeah-yeah-yeah ... y'all are gonna wanna buy your OWN soon!)

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Whisper White
Ink: Lost Lagoon
Accessories: Baby's First Framelits, Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack (heart), Corner Rounder Punch, Lost Lagoon Satin Stitched Ribbon, Whisper White Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon, Rhinestone Basics, Silhouette eCutter
MDS Downloads:  Word Bubble Punch (punch 1)

The little flower image on this card just SPEAKS to me!! It's from the "Something to Say" stamp set!! And YES!! It DOES have a coordinating punch (which is one of THREE in the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. LOVELOVELOVE!!! SOSOMUCH!!! I kinda went a little flower crazy ... but I couldn't HELP myself!!

Stamps: Something to Say, Work of Art
Paper: Blackberry Bliss, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Pink Pirouette
Accessories: Pearl Basics, 1 1/4" Square Punch, Linen Thread, Simply Scored

Next up??? Cindy Elam!! I LOVE her style!!

Raindrops Keep Fallin' ...

... on my head!! I remember LOVING that song when I was a little girl (which totally AGES me, I know!)!! I love the rain! I love walking in it, splashing in the puddles, listening to it hit the roof of our tent when we are camping ... there is something so happy and soothing about the rain ...

Which brings me to today's project!! Oh how HAPPY this was to make!! Not only was this SOOO very easy and NON-TIME-CONSUMING ... it was really inexpensive to make as well ... and FUN!!

I started by perusing my MDS files looking for raindrops and umbrellas (and YES ... I have MANY!)!! I chose the rounded "chubby" raindrops from "Sunshine & Sprinkles" as well as the "curvy" raindrop from "Sweetest Dreams". The cloud is from "Epic Overlays" ...

After importing the images into my eCutter software (aka Silhouette Designer Edition), I copied and resized each of the raindrops LOTS of times. I also resized the cloud so that it would fit well on one of the 8"x10" canvases I had purchased (got a STEAL of a DEAL on those ... they were only $1.50/each at the local "big box craft store").

You could really use ANY designer series paper you had on hand ... I did a lot of mixing and matching until I came up with a combo I liked! (Wouldn't this be oh-so-stinkin' ca-YOOT in a baby's room???)

I adhered the umbrella to the canvas with my Tombo glue adhesive (the "handle" on the umbrella is just a 1/2" strip of Soft Suede that I adhered down and wrapped around the bottom of the canvas clear to the back) ... I also adhered some of the raindrops with Tombo and some of them I adhered with dimensionals. I like the "texture" that this created to give these canvases more depth ...

This could be a FUN class (hmmmm ... should be doing one in the future because this was FUN!! I said that already ... more than once ...)

I am ALSO very happy that I have such sunny and bright walls in my kitchen (shades of yellow make me happy!)! Not bad for a sunny-afternoon project ...

Paper: Etcetera DSP, I Am Me DSP, Soft Suede
Accessories: eCutter (Silhouette), Dimensionals, 8"x10" Art Canvas
MDS Downloads: Sunshine & Sprinkles (raindrop), Sweetest Dreams (raindrop), Epic Overlays (cloud 1 outline)

Thanks for stopping by!!
