best-loved little things
Nothing beats dinner in the backyard! Whenever possible, we eat outside.
To me it is one of the best-loved 'little things', unhesitatingly.
The Nasturtium flower seeds under the small ginkgo tree are already growing considerably over the last weeks (and the wooden skewers I planted to keep the cats out of the tree tub...)

sowing season
The sowing season has begun.
Saturday night was a wonderful summer evening and we've been 'working' in the garden until sunset.
We have sowed the zinnia seeds in our backyard, hoping for a zinnia jungle like we had in 2014!
For some reason the zinnia's we sowed last year didn't work out like the ones in 2014.
This time I've mixed three different kinds for a colorful zinnia field in the backyard.

flower heart
The zinnia and cosmea seeds I sowed in the backyard, did not survive the cold spring.
However the yellow flower seeds were the only of all seeds I sowed, that grew into flowers.
I don't know the name of the yellow flowerfield in our backyard, for I have not saved the seed bag.
It's a strong flower anyway...

eager to gardening
Can't wait to work in the garden. I'm eager to dig in the soil and get dirty fingernails.
Sowing the flower seeds and planting the dahlia bulbs.
Today my sweet friend Yvonne visited me and we had such a lovely day. She brought me some pretty dahlias and the American version of her book Yvestown in the Kitchen. Thanks Yvonne Xx!
We had lunch at Nobel's Brood, wool indulgence at the Textielfabrique, Yvonne showed me her newest book Weekend DIY at the Conceptstore Dordrecht.
We strolled through the beautiful old town of Dordrecht and ended up at Vreeken's Zaden, a famous seeds shop in Dordrecht were we had lots of fun and finally laughed out loud about the fact we spend an hour in a seeds shop... (I bought lots of flower seeds and yes Aloë Vera, houseplant #3)
Moreover I can not wait to transform our garden table into a botanical table, like on the cover of the inspiring book 'Miami Hot & Cool', we already bought 25 years ago.
