Dear Abby - Vintage Easter Postcards With Dachshunds

Dear Friends!

Easter is coming up this weekend, so I've been looking for vintage Easter postcards to share with you. I found some that I hope you will enjoy!

A little girl in an Easter dress hugs her dachshund, while another doxie looks on:

A dachshund and Jack Russell Terrier chase the Easter bunny to the top of a giant egg.

A dachshund is pictured with snapdragons and little chicks.

Dachshunds play with flowers and an empty oversized Easter egg.

Dachshunds visit the Easter bunny's booth to collect Easter eggs.

A chicken and dachshund find a nest of eggs!

A dachshund plays with the ribbon trim on an Easter egg while looking at a little chick.

Dear Abby - 12 Vintage Dachshund Valentines With a Long Theme

Happy Valentine's Day, dear friends!

Today I would love to share a few special vintage Valentines with you.  They all feature dachshunds and the theme of LONG or LONGING.  My Momma says that most of these cards are 1950's to 1960's vintage.  I have 12 cards to share, so without further ado ...

A dachshund in a yellow bow says: "I long for you to be mine."

A solid black dachshund says: "Valentine I Long 4 U."

A black and white dachshund says simply "I long."  (I bet there is a continued message inside the card.)

A dachshund in a jaunty red cap and red and white sweater says: "Dog gone it! I long to see you."

This cute dachshund carries a rose in her mouth and wears a yellow blanket.  "L-O-N-G-I-N-G for a Valentine."

A dachshund in a red sweater with hearts says: "I'm longing for you Valentine."

A pretty dachshund with a blue bow on her tail says: "I've liked you a long time, Valentine!"

This sweet dachshund has a blue bow around her neck.  "Hi! For a long long time."

This dachshund has a white heart balloon and a blue collar.  "I long to be your Valentine."

A dachshund in a yellow sweater gives a bone to a pretty poodle.  "I've got a bone I'm longing to pick with you."

This dachshund wears a green bow.  "I'd go a long way for a Valentine like you!"

A Valentine in a red collar stands by some flocked pink and red hearts.  "I long for you to be mine!"

I hope you enjoyed these sweet, old timey Valentines and I hope YOU have an extra special day with the people and animals that you love.

Love,

Dear Abby - Vintage Pictures of Dachshunds in Winter

Dear Friends,

I hope you are having a good week and staying warm. It was very cold for us in the south earlier this week, although we have not seen snow this winter. I am glad about that, as I am not a fan of snow!

I found some vintage pictures of dachshunds in winter that I like and thought you might enjoy them too.

This is a vintage postcard with a dachshund sitting beside a little girl outside in the snow. The little girl is wearing a coat but the doxie looks chilly!

Another vintage postcard -- children are going ice skating and their dachshund is right there with them on a frozen pond!  (Brrr!)

Vintage postcard of a dachshund pulling a sled through the snow with a puppy and two cats.  (This picture must be wrong, because the dachshund surely deserves to be pulled in a sled as well!)

Vintage postcard of dachshunds skiing on a mountain. It looks like they are having fun!  One of them is standing on skis on all four legs instead of standing upright. I think he has the right idea.

1960's or 1970's vintage children's book illustration of a dachshund helping to make a snowman.

Another vintage children's book illustration of a dachshund meeting some deer in the snow.

I hope you enjoyed these pictures!  Have a good day and a nice cozy weekend indoors, and I'll catch up again next week.

Love,

Dear Abby - Happy Thanksgiving! With Vintage Images

Dear Friends,

I hope you are having a good day.  I'm posting a little early this week because I plan to take some time off for the Thanksgiving holiday.  I hope to get some extra naps in and I just know there is going to be extra good food around next week.  (I can't wait!)   I'll be back the first Friday in December.

I wanted to share some cute vintage cards and postcards with you that feature dogs enjoying Thanksgiving.

Vintage Thanksgiving greeting card -- a dachshund dances with a girl in a pilgrim costume. She's holding a turkey up very high, out of his reach!

A little terrier dog is chased by a turkey on this vintage postcard:

A little girl and two dachshunds meet turkeys on a farm.  Those dachshunds look so curious about the turkey!

Vintage greeting card featuring two shaggy terrier dogs who have made a pumpkin house. (It looks very cozy!)
A hound dog watches as a boy says grace at Thanksgiving dinner:

A dog and cat are interested in the turkey that a pilgrim woman is carrying:

However you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope your day is happy and full of many blessings!

Dear Abby - Vintage Easter Dogs

Dear Friends,

Just a short and sweet note from me today, wishing you a Happy Easter!   I found a few images of vintage Easter dogs that I thought you might enjoy.

This 1939 illustration by Mabel Rollins Harris features a Cocker Spaniel in an Easter bonnet along with a little girl - and chicks!

A Jack Russell Terrier does not want to share a carrot with some bunny rabbits!

A Scottie dog gets an Easter visitor:

A Cocker Spaniel named Butch wears bunny ears and carries an Easter basket:

I hope you enjoyed these vintage images.   Wishing you a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter!

Dear Abby - Vintage Dachshund Valentines

Dear Friends,

Next week is one of my favorite holidays, Valentine's Day!  I wanted to take the opportunity to wish you a happy Valentine's Day and to share a few vintage dachshund Valentines with you.

These are all older cards from the 1950's - 1960's like children exchanged in school.

This little dachshund wags her tail and mentions "a long long time."   (Lots of dachshund cards make a play on the word "long.")

This is an elegant dachshund with a garland of red hearts:

This cute dachshund is a dandy.  He is wearing a hat and coat!

This little girl dachshund looks so sweet in her coat and hat.  She is even carrying a pink rose!

This festive dachshund wears a hat with streamers:

"Valentine, you're really swell!"

 "I'm longing for you, Valentine."

"I've liked you a long time Valentine!"

"For you on Valentine's Day."  A little girl and her two dachshunds look at a note that is arriving through a letter slot in the door.

This little red dachshund is from a child to their teacher.

 "You're a dog-gone swell Valentine."

I hope you enjoyed this vintage Valentines, and hope you have a wonderful holiday!  I'll be back next week with some more dogs in movies.

Love,

Abby xoxoxo
