Creative Chemistry 102 - Day 1 - 5

OK I've been up to my earlobes creating tags... I signed up for Creative Chemistry 102 and it's been ABSOLUTELY fabulous. Quite a few new techniques under my belt. You can click on any image to go to that page. At the bottom of each of those pages is a next button to link you to every tag I've made so far. Still a couple more to come tomorrow I hope...Enjoy.

I'm using a lot of Quietfire Design calligraphic stamp quotes and sentiments. They work so well with these tags.

Mini Booklets

Well, while waiting for my heating system to be installed (yes it's finally installed) I was productive. I made several mini booklet necklaces and a mini boxed book all using my paste papers from last summer. These little things are addictive and I will be making a bunch more. They're so cute.

I figure they're great for kids as sign in/momento booklets for a class year (a new one each year). Or to write down your hopes and dreams and wishes. Or a mini address book. Or just to doodle in...

Thanks & Sept Mingle

It was an extremely busy day today. I had a lot I wanted to make and FINISH, which I did. Last day of the long weekend and very nice weather outside.

I made 2 more Thank you cards, with envies as well as my September Mingle page for my ByHand Group a "This & That Mingle". I choose Chinese Kite Festival. There were so many good themes to choose from, and until today I had no idea what I wanted to do. But I read the list again this morning, and the Kites just jumped out at me. I googled it and saw a lot of beautiful kites. The colors spoke to me. I've put links to each individual page, just click the photo you want more info on. There are lots of detail pics and instructions.

Mini Booklet

One of my friends showed me a little booklet that was made by Sonja Idema (a fantastic paper marbler) using some of her marbled paper. So cute. So I thought I'd use the inspiration to make one using my paste paprs. This is the result. It's cute too.

More Paste Paper

Well it's been another very very productive day. I made waaaay toooo many paste papers. I'm definitely going to have to figure out what to make with them. Just click on the image at left to get to my website. At the moment it's the first 3 pages in that gallery. And I still have some paste left over. So who knows what will happen next weekend.

Paste Paper Recipe

Since some of you have been asking what recipe I used, I've added a link to my website where I described the recipe and what I did.
Just go to the Tutorials section on the right of my blog and click on "Paste Paper Recipe"
I'm now ready to go outside and play some more.

Paste Paper

Well I had a fantastic time at Fran's place doing Paste Papers. The weather was glorious and the company was warm. We had a great time and were very productive.

Fran made up a batch of cornstarch paste which we then mixed our paints into. We used all kinds of acrylic paints, from Golden, Liquitex, Jacquard and all thickness of paint as well. We also used some silk dye paints. everything worked well. I've uploaded a bunch of samples on my website, broken up into four categories, since there were a lot that I uploaded (and that's only about half of what I made). I also got a container of leftover paste, so I'll be doing a bit more of it this weekend.
