Colour fun by Magda Polakow

Hello everyone!

I love colours and I love colouring! Colour pencils (watercolour pencils etc.), paints even mists are great for colouring. Can't live without them and of course my art journal.

Here I have coloured my new stamps using Ayeeda mists.
I stamped Agatha and a cup using Archival Ink. This is very important to use waterproof ink for stamping if mists or watercolour pencils are used for colouring.

And here are my new canvas Agatha's dolls.
I drew Agatha using waterproof black pen and then coloured her using paints.

Ayeeda mists and paints are great for colouring.
You need to try them!

The wall of love by Magda Polakow

Hello everyone!
Yesterday I was looking for some new interior design ideas. I couldn't decide which design I prefered Bohemian or Industrial. I'm hopeless.
I love them both! I think I need to mix them together.
Anyway...
Here is my project for today.

Looks difficult? Nothing could be more wrong!
I only used two products - Gesso and Chalk Mist.
Not believe? Check it out!
Step by step photos you will find below.

Love, love, love this effect! I think I will make a wall in my room using this technique ;)
I applied a thick layer of gesso.

When gesso dries something like skin or scum appear. This is a moment when 'the messing my project part' starts. I used my finger and pushed and moved the skin.

Some parts of the skin came off. I left it to dry.

I sprayed mists.
And that's it!

I used:
Gesso
Chalk Mist Grey

No rules by Magda Polakow

Hello lovely people!
Today I want to show you my art journal spread.
Two pages look different but both are made from the same products.
The only difference between them is that I sprayed mists on the right page. On the other page I used a brush to apply the mist.

It shows that using the same products one can achieve different desirable effects.

3 easy steps by Magda Polakow

Hi everyone!

Today I have for you one of my favourites technique. It is so easy that I'm not sure I should call it technique. Just three easy steps...

1. Stick pieces of masking tape or packing paper to the background. Fold, squeeze the pieces, make sure to have a lot of texture.

2. Cover the masking tape/ packing paper with gesso.

3. Spray mists.

That's it!

Gel Medium vs Liquid Acrylic Medium by Magda Polakow

Hi everyone!
I love experimenting with products. This time I used Gel Medium and Liquid Acrylic Medium in the same ways. Because this mediums are completely different, I didn't achieved the same effects.

First I applied both mediums on paper. I used brush and did it only in a few places.
After drying time I almost couldn't see any changes on a paper with Liquid Acrylic Medium. The paper was a little glossy but that's it, paper remain soft in touch.
On the other hand paper with Gel Medium was glossy and I felt a layer of gel medium when touched it.

I wanted to see how both mediums would react with mists. I sprayed Pearl Mist in three colours and dried the paper using a heat gun.
Result...

The next step...a thick layer of mediums - Liquid Acrylic Medium (left) and Gel Medium (right).

I sprayed Pastel Black on both mediums - they were still wet.
On a layer of Liquid Acrylic Medium (left) the mist was moving (more about this technique you can read here). When used a heat gun, spots appeared and I could see what was under the layer of Liquid Acrylic Medium.
The mist on a layer of Gel Medium stayed in one place but what was interesting - heated with gun cracks appeared.

And here is one more reason why I like Liquid Acrylic Medium so much...

I wrote about Liquid Acrylic Medium before. Two posts full of ideas you can find here and here.

Winter girl by Magda Polakow

Hi

Today I would like to show you how to make a very interesting background using paints and white gesso.

I apply Ayeeda Matte Paints in random places using brush. For bigger areas I use roller.

When the paint is dry I apply thick layer of white gesso (why not to try black gesso next time!?).

Using the other end of the brush I draw some images.

When the gesso is dry I apply Ayeeda Silver Pearl paint.

That's it! Quick and simple!

I used
Gesso
Matte Paints
Silver Pearl Paint
