Pink for girls, blue for boys!!

I know Easter has been and gone but I have one last set of photos to share with you all. Last week I used blue and yellow melamine plates for my table and now I’m sharing the pink and green version. As I have two grandsons and two granddaughters I could not resist either set – both purchased after Easter last year! I simply added the pink and green plates and few extras bits and pieces to my kitchen dresser which I had decked out in lovely green and white for summer. You can see it here …… lovely and fresh for summer.

How much cuter does it look here all in it’s Easter glory??

How lucky was I?? I had bought my self this bunch of liliums at a market on the way home from the beach house and when they opened they were the perfect match for my Easter dresser.  I promise this is the last of Easter decor from me for this year.

Celebrating Easter

It’s hard to believe Easter has been and gone. Hopefully you had a wonderful time with family and friends. We spent Easter at the beach house and were joined by two of our three children. We enjoyed our little grandsons visit on Saturday. The weather was absolutely perfect. We have received some lovely rain on the farm which has washed away some of the dust that had settled over summer. We have a touch of green in the paddocks which is just lovely.
I have come to the conclusion that I really just love the beautiful soft colours of Easter. The beautiful pastels are just so restful and some of the Easter mantels and tables around blogland have been just amazing. I set a buffet table for a simple lunch with some cute egg shaped plates I bought in the after-Easter-sales. I used blue and yellow so my little grandsons could share in the fun. The plates are melamine so perfect for little people!! I have the same plates in pink and green which I have added to my kitchen dresser but I have too many photos so I will share them next week.

SSS

After spending 4 days sorting through all the stuff my kids had accumulated at our unit over the last 13 years I have decided I need to keep telling myself…simple, simple, simple. That’s how I need to get my life under control. If I thought there was a lot of cr.. stuff in our unit I can only begin to imagine how much is in the farmhouse after 36 years!!! I am trying to sort through cupboards and drawers and reduce the amount of possessions I have.  Tablescapes will now be set with only dinnerware I have on hand, I will not buy new things (well, maybe just a few) and most important I will reduce my weight by walking and exercising more. Sounds simple, doesn’t it!!!  Well, here’s the start of things to come. My simple, simple table. I set this little Easter morning tea table to share with my 4 grandies.  The table is very rustic (I think that’s what the real estate agents would call it but really I think it is just old!).  Actually I think the whole garden looks a little ‘rustic’ after our long hot summer but today I spent about 4 hours trying to get rid of some weeds.  It looks a little better already.  I am really enjoying our lovely autumn weather at the moment.

It’s so hard to believe Easter is right on our door step – where is this year going?

Just a little Easter colour

I knew my friend was stopping by for a coffee over Easter so I did a little baking. Aren’t these little cupcake papers just beautiful?? They have tiny rabbits on them – just perfect for Easter.

I already had this tray set up on my kitchen table so I just moved that to the sunroom so we could sit there and enjoy the last of the sunshine coming through the window. I love these little papers – they are just big enough for one bite! I used a cream cheese topping (my favourite) on them. I adore these gorgeous eggs – I bought a three dozen crate of them!! Just the most gorgeous colours. I have used my interesting old coffee table that I revampped here - check it out - the diffence is amazing!
We had a very relaxing Easter and had dinner at my sister’s townhouse with them last night. She had set the most gorgeous table in blue and silver but I forgot my camera!!! I couldn’t believe it – I always carry my point and shoot with me but Mr FH and I had travelled to the city to see a football match and it was a little heavy in my bag so I took it out and forgot to put it back.
I hope you all had a lovely time with your family and friends.

Easter table with a twist!

I was talking to my daughter last week and I remember telling her there are no rules in decorating. You do what you like and if you are happy that is all that’s needed. This got me thinking about an Easter table…
I started to think of all the components that were ‘essentials’ for a proper Easter table. Bunnies, baskets, flowers, grass, eggs and a place set for company.
Just to be different I chose a non-Easter colour.

Yes, I think I have it all covered. As you can see I had this table set in the late afternoon – the shadows really accentuated the gorgeous texture on the bunny and the bunny plate.
