Greetings from Canada!  I'm back with the newest challenge over on the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge blog.  This time we’re inspired by this photo…

You must all know by now that I'm a Canadian girl and July 1st is Canada Day.  It's a special one this year because we are celebrating our 150th birthday.

PTI Anniversary Challenges ~ the last 3!

Hi friends!  Happy Valentine's Day!  I spent the afternoon in the studio creating a bucket of cards for some DT work and the last PTI challenges.  Up first is the Colour Pop Fortune Teller.  I flipped aquamist, spring rain, and blueberry.  I wasn't sure how I wanted to use the colours so I made 2 similar cards varying the different colours.  I think I like this second one best...it's more pleasing to the eye.

This next card is for the Saturday Snail Mail challenge.  We're to make a card and mail it to the hardworking staff in the warehouse who lovingly pack our precious PTI orders :)  I chose to use my favourite go to Canadian layout and added "from Canada"!

Last up is the Paper Crafting Alphabet.  I used 3 letters out of my last name: Pink, Lean your sentiment at an angle, and Tie on some twine.

That's it!  I can start making my shopping list for the release tomorrow.  Sadly, I only have 11 points and have to wait to get 13 more to get that fabulous Anniversary Set.  I spent some of my points lowering my order prices because of the terrible exchange rate we are experiencing.  RATS!  Oh, the wait will be worth it...I do love it and all the samples from the DT.  Thanks for visiting!

Merry Christmas from Canada(take 2)

merrychristmascanadamaureenplut

Greetings!  I’m back with another set of Christmas cards for a colleague.  She saw the set I made HERE for another fellow colleague and wanted her own set for some out of country friends visiting at Christmas.  We made a couple of element changes, but the layout is the same.  I sure love making these :)  That red maple leaf sure jumps out from the white snowflakes and background!  Here’s the complete set…

Now I need to get on to MY Christmas cards!  LOL  I may be making myself a set of these :)  Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Merry Christmas (from Canada!)

merrymaureenplut

Hello friends!  Today’s card is one of a set of seven cards I made for a coworker this week.  A few months back, she saw THIS card and wondered if I could make a similar card for Christmas x7.

celebratemaureenplut

She’s sending them to family outside of Canada so loved the homage to Canada (the sweet maple leaf behind the poinsettias).  I made sure to make them up as soon as I had the time and before report card season (next month).  She got them yesterday and was quite delighted :)  Here’s the whole set…

Though there’s a layer of die cuts, some sequins, and twine, they are fairly flat and I think they’ll be fine in the mail with standard shipping rates :)  Thanks for stopping by!  Come back tomorrow with some more new Verve!

Clearly Besotted Teaser Time ~ Day 2

OCDmaureenplut

Good morning and TGIF!  I’m back with another sneaky peek at one of the new Clearly Besotted Stamp sets to be released on October 5th!  This little stamp set, Warm Solutions ll, really touches my heart… OCD…that’s me! HA!  The striped coffee mug reminded me of Kate Spade stationery so I embossed it with gold and added a little wooden maple in honour of Fall and the country I love {insert “awwww” and “eh!” here!} LOL  I’m also entering this card into the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop that ends tonight!

Head over to Stephanie’s blog for some more inspiration and peeks! Thanks for stopping by!

When You Think of Beautiful Things

beautifulcanuckmaureenplut

Hi friends!  I’m pretty excited about how this card turned out.  It’s inspired by this awesome Vancouver 2010 Olympics t-shirt.

shirt

So here’s the story.  When my sister from Texas was up this summer, we went to visit my aunt and uncle and this photo was on their mantle.  Ava, my sister’s daughter was wearing the exact same shirt but in a children’s size.  My sister said she LOVED that shirt, but it was too small.  Well, I had the same shirt, but in an adult’s size AND I still had it!

So I’m sending my niece the shirt along with a matching card!  I LOVE it!  A true Canadian card!  I stamped the plaid lines with black ink and Clearly Besotted’s Basic Stripes onto red cardstock.

I had to add my favourite Canadian watermark image inside! HA!

I’m mailing the shirt and card today along with the mixed media bookmark card I made on Monday.  I know she’s going to love the surprise!  Have a great day! Thanks for popping in!

Let Us Be Grateful

begratefulmaureenplut

Hi friends!  Well, I’m coming into the home stretch with the last Masters weekend until the Fall!  As of Saturday, I’ll have one year down and one more to go!  It’s been quite the roller coaster ride, but I don’t regret any of it!  Well, maybe some of the stress and anxiety of not knowing what I was doing…but it all came together!  My old fears of not thinking I could do this have turned into excitement and hope and visions of me walking across the stage in a cap and gown!  Fingers crossed!

Our dear faculty advisor from Gonzaga agreed to come and have our last weekend on the 4th of July weekend.  We said we could rearrange this, but he said he didn’t mind, they don’t do it up like they used to.  So we’re making a little Fourth of July celebration for him.  I knew I had to make a red, white, and blue card for him, along with some maple leaves to represent his BC cohort :)  He is a gentle, wise, calm, and uplifting spirit and we have been so blessed to have him as our advisor.  He makes everything so easy, well, at least feel easy!  LOL  He truly is what higher education is all about.  To all my American friends, have a wonderful Fourth of July tomorrow!  ox

Birthday Blessings from Canada ~ Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge

birthdayblessingsmaureenplut

Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Canadians!  How appropriate that our challenge starting today is Birthday Bash.  Canada is 147 years young today and I always like to honour her with a birthday card. We have an awesome new sponsor, Top Dog Dies, for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Birthday Bash!  The designers received some fabulous Tog Dog Dies to work with for this challenge...such a quality product!  The LEAD of this challenge will receive a prize from Top Dog Dies!

I did not use ANY colours from the inspiration photo, but rather from this great country I live in :)  As well, in honour of our Canadian Mosaic, I’ve used stamps from several different companies including Verve (On Occasion), Papertrey Ink, and the old Stampin’ Up’s Glorious and Free :)

Top Dog Dies sent me the Heart Doily Die to play with.  I love personalizing doilies by stamping a motif on them.  Here I’ve made a Canadian doily!

Stop by the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge: Birthday Bash to see what the other designers created and then play along with us!  Have a great day, eh!

Let Us Be Grateful

begratefulmaureenplut

Hi everyone!  Well, one class down and one more to finish up in 2 weeks :)  This is the card I made for our instructor this weekend.  He’s from Spokane and travels up every two weeks to teach us :)  He uses a maple leaf background for his power points in honour of being here in Canada, so I thought it only appropriate that I add maple leaves to his card so he can remember us :)  I hope you have a lovely Sunday…thanks for stopping by :)

Heartfelt Thanks from Canada

fromCanadamaureenplut

Good morning!  Just popping in today with a special card I made last week for my nephew this past summer.  The lucky duck got to go to Ireland with friends!  My sister, his mom, asked if I would make a nice thank you card for him to send to the family who hosted his stay.  At first I was going to make a green Irish kind of card, but then I rethought that and got onto a Canadian theme.  I am using many Waltzingmouse stamps (from Ireland) so I thought that was more than appropriate, although only to me!  LOL  I based this sketch on one I had done a few months ago as I wanted a few sentiments on banners.  I love the maple leaf one!  Here’s the sentiment inside…I did go for an Irish sentiment that I thought was cool…

I hope your week is going well!  Hugs!

Play along with the Mojo Monday 300 sketch and link it up to the Mojo Monday linky entry form and you’ll be in the drawing for some fabulous papercrafting goodies! Mojo300Sketch

My card today celebrates another special day as well, Canada Day!  She is 146 years old (or 29 for the 117th time! LOL).  Knowing my card would have a Canadian flare to it, I chose some red patterned paper and mixed it with some sweet little pink heart paper :)  Out came some of that lovely maple leaf ribbon AND some red sequins to work the trend!  A die cut maple leaf took over the green circle of the sketch and the word Canada was stamped from a Canadian post stamp I have.  The On Occasion frame was inked in real red and I used a birthday sentiment from the same set.  I took the little “from”  from the Merry and Bright set and performed a needed “surgery” to get just the right sentiment :)

But wait!  We’re not done celebrating!  Julee has a great promotion going on over at the Verve Store using the coupon code: 300MOJO.  How fabulous is that?

I hope your week is starting out in the best way…now that summer holidays have started here, Mondays are just as loved as Fridays :)  LOL  Thanks for visiting!
