Clearly Besotted Teaser Time Day 2

thankyoumaureenplut

Hello friends! I’m back with another sneaky peek at one of the new Clearly Besotted Stamp sets to be released on November 5th! This sweet loopy thank you sentiment is from Sweet Sentiments Plus.  There are eight every occasion sentiments in this set so it’s perfect as a staple in your stamp collection.  It takes me awhile to warm up to Fall so when I do, I want to keep making cards with leaves in browns, oranges, and reds.  I was inspired by Amber’s card HERE and grabbed an embossed leaf scrap of paper I had when I made THIS card a few months ago.  Then I started layering elements to create texture and dimension.  I’m entering this card in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: Texture.

Thanks for stopping by!  Head over to Stephanie’s blog for some more inspiration and peeks!

Clearly Besotted September Teaser Time ~ Day 3

yourwishesmaureenplut

Hey friends!  I’m back today with another little Clearly Besotted Stamps teaser as we count down to the September release on the 5th.  For my third sneak peek, I’m playing with the Believe stamp set.  I was experimenting with my distress inks and blender tool, can you tell?  HA!  I embossed the berry branch with white embossing powder so I could ink over it.  I was feeling girly girly that day so had to add some pink and purple washi tape to the top! LOL The next card was a watercolour experiment.  It looked so dreamy that I decided to use words from the Believe set to create an inspirational piece.  The “dream” had a little surgery from the rest of the sentiment, but everyone survived are are back together on the acetate sheet!  No worries!

Happy Day ~ Papertrey Ink Blog Hop

happydaymaureenplut

Hi friends!  It’s the 25th so I’ve got a card for the Papertrey Ink blog hop!  I’ve really been enjoying my new Kuretake watercolours.  This card was initially inspired by Dawn McVey’s card HERE then my own card HERE.  Here’s this month’s inspiration photo.

augustbloghop

I got out my new watercolours and started making some paper for my leaves.  Once the paper was dry, I splattered it with some dark brown paint.

Love You

loveyoumaureenplut

Happy Sunday everyone!  I’ve been dabbling with my mixed media materials again and reworking some old pieces that weren’t working for me.  The background paper is one of those pieces, although, I’ve covered it up with a doily and sentiment panel.  There’s a lot of purple on the background piece so the glitter words didn’t show up that well until I put a black embossed heart panel behind them.  I added some glossy accents to those sweet hearts and a Reverse Confetti arrow.  This card is going to a dear friend next week to let her know I’m thinking of her.  I’m also entering it in The Mixed Media Monthly Challenge “Get Texty.”  Thanks for visiting!  Have a great day!

Happy Birthday

happybirthdaymaureenplut

TGIF everyone!  It’s Friday and that means that there’s a new Viva La Verve sketch up and ready to play with.  I just LOVE this sketch!  I kind of reminds me of the card I made on Monday HERE.  I had another mixed media experiment paper so I made another tag with it and stamped some flowers from Happy Place.  Head over to the Viva La Verve Blog to check out some more inspiration and read about how you could win some VERVE at the end of the month!

I’m also going to enter this in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.  They’re getting “texty” over there and I think this card fits perfectly! Have a great weekend!

Your Own Kind of Beautiful

ownkindofbeautifulmaureenplut

Happy Monday everyone!  I’ve been slowly finding ways to use up pieces of mixed media I had experimented with last summer, yes, last summer!  My niece saw this pink heart piece and said she liked it so I thought I’d turn it into a bookmark card and send it to her :)  I added a sentiment from PTI’s Life is Beautiful.  Have a great week! Thanks for stopping by!

Adjust our Sails ~ Background Check, Day 6

directthewindmaureenplut

I’m back with another card made with mixing several colours in embossing paste.  I love the variations in the blue that make it look like a stormy sea.  Here’s the background which was very difficult to get a clear photo of…it’s like my little camera didn’t know where to focus!

Online Card Class ~ Background Check Day 5

freehand

Hi! I’m back with another background for my Online Card Class, Background Check.  Laura Bassen reminded me how fun embossing paste is, especially when you colour it with Distress inks.  Coming up will be a line up of the cards I made with these past few backgrounds. Stay tuned!

Just a Note

justanotemaureenplut

Good morning!  Happy Saturday!  This week has been a good one :)  I sent my capstone off on Monday!!  What a relief to have it all done!  AND today is the last class of one of my courses this semester!  Lots to celebrate!  This card is going to our instructor.  She’s a teacher, musician, writer, and has her doctorate!  So I made sure to include some music paper flowers and the “just a note” sentiment.  I made the watercolour background by smooshing some Tim Holtz distress inks on my craft mat, spraying it with water, then dipping the paper in it.  Then I made the hearts with embossing paste and a heart stencil.  Here’s the inside…

We love this instructor.  She’s so fun and down to earth.  She taught us last spring and we requested her back!  I’m sure the musician in her is loving the “encore.”  Hope you are all having a lovely day…is this time of year great or what!?

Be My Valentine

bemyvalentinemaureenplut

Hello!  I had a little stack of paper and this half heart doily left from another project so I thought I’d layer it all up and stitch it onto this distressed inked background.  I’m entering this in the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge: Think Pink.  I think it’s easy to see how I used pink!  I sure do love this colour!  I’ve used pink distress inks to make a watercoloured background, some pink heart paper, some pink sequins and some pink ink on the  Verve Hearts and Swirls frame.

Thanks for visiting!  Hope your weekend is going well!

In Life’s Adventure ~ Curtain Call Reminder

lifesadventuremaureenplut

There is still time to join us for the Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

You have until January 25th at 8:00 AM CST to be inspired and share your project!  Current challenge details and link-up are here.

After watching the new Ranger product reviews at CHA, I just had to get into the studio to play with my paints and sprays.  I used the scarf colours to create my mixed media background and then cut apart a sentiment from Hero Arts’ Essential Messages.  The font on all the phrases in this set are perfect for cutting up.  I also used a couple of the quotes to stamp on the background.  This large tag is actually a bookmark held in place with the twine and button!

bookmarkmaureenplut

I’ve made this for a dear colleague at work.  It’s her birthday today and I want to let her know how fabulous I think she is.  This will be waiting for her on her desk today :)

We have a new sponsor, Hero Arts, for this challenge!  A randomly selected participant will receive SIX new clear stamp sets from the Hero Arts, while the LEAD will be invited as a Guest Designer in a future challenge!

The LEAD, Show Stoppers and Prize Winner will be chosen by the crew and announced on January 31st at 8:00 AM CST.  Head over to the Curtain Call Blog to see more beautiful samples!  Have a wonderful day :)

Speak the Truth

speakthetruthmaureenplut
Happy Monday everyone!  Today’s card is another mixed media experiment using the inspiration photo from the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge.  I took the photo literally with a blue background, pink and yellow flowers, and green leaves.

Here are the pieces before I assembled the card.  I wanted to show you the beautiful background paper.  I sprayed a mosaic heart stencil with white Dylusions ink.  The sentiment is from Verve’s Words of Wisdom and the stitched frame is from Treasured Words.
