Reflections

I'm reading over some old blog posts to figure out what I was doing on this day in the past...

Five years ago (wow, I have had this blog for awhile)... I was talking about how great it would be to have cuisine mode on my camera. This was before I ever had an SLR (not that I know how to use it well), and I got a camera with a cuisine mode a couple of years ago. I can't believe that this was news back then. Five years ago, I was also getting ready to go out to buy Christmas underwear. Funny.

Four years ago ... I didn't post, but I think I was working.

Three years ago ... I didn't post, but I'm fairly sure I was working. December 2006 was a crazy busy month. I think that's the month in my entire working history that I billed the most hours.

Two years ago ... I didn't post (notice a pattern?), but again, I'm fairly sure I was working. December is a busy month for transactional associates. At least it was when the economy was good. Wait... was this a Saturday? Maybe I wasn't working? Or... maybe I was...

A year ago ... I didn't post (again!), but I remember last December being busy.

This was far more interesting when I started it looking through 2004 entries. My spurt-posting and lack of regular posting has made this far less interesting than it could be for some other dates. Oh well.

Weekend Health

I wrote an entry, lamenting about how the weekend has been detrimental to my health because of the eating and inability to fit exercise into the schedule, how it's unrealistic to be able to lose weight like on the Biggest Loser because I don't have 5-6 hours a day to exercise, and how I seem to be completely incapable of losing weight and getting in shape despite trying. I have stopped copying my posts before I post them, since Blogger has been doing better with this lately. Unfortunately, it has lied and claimed there are "conflicting edits" or some crap like that (really, who else would be editing this? No one else even reads it), and to press "back" on the browser and try again. Well, Blogger, of course if you press back, it's a blank post page! Post gone! I'm not rewriting my complaint about losing weight. It's too much effort and may make me even more discouraged about the topic since I'll have had to think through it twice. Thanks Blogger.

Pictures

I would like to post more pictures on this blog, but I am having issues with the new way the photos are set up and am trying to save quota space.

Here's the problem:

I started using Picasaweb for my photos back when it first opened up, even paid for extra storage space. Now, the new Blogger-Picasa integration places photos from the blog into the web albums associated with your login. Fine... except now if I upload a photo to the blog and have also uploaded the photo into the web album, it counts twice.

Of course, you can link from the web album and put the link to the image directly into the blog. Great, except for the fact that my picasaweb name includes my full name and that kind of defeats the purpose of not revealing that on the blog.

So... I am stuck with the problem where I can upload directly into Blogger in order to protect my privacy and have the same photo in web albums and have it count twice... or I could just not upload photos. (I think there is another alternative but I'm still thinking about that one). I would like to be able to write to Blogger to ask them if there is any way to "cloak" the link or something so as not to reveal my email/login name (who knows if that's even possible), but my multiple circles around the help section does not enable me to do this. So Blogger people - if you are reading this, that is my complaint and I do not know how to ask the question. I feel like I'm being backed into a corner where I either have to reveal my full name or I can't post pictures, which frankly kind of sucks and is very frustrating. I realize there are storage limits, but I'm already paying for extra storage so it's not like I am trying to take advantage of the free storage. I just wish there were another way to do this. Or that my email name didn't include my full name... I don't think it's an issue yet, but with the number of photos I take, it's bound to become an issue at some point. Sigh.
