Smoke and Mac

The secondhand smoke being pumped into our bathroom makes me sick.

Literally and mentally.

So, instead, I will watch No Reservations (Chicago episode) and dream about this:

Yum. Mac & joe from Schnipper's. Delicious.

Avocado

Dear Whole Foods,

How do you spell the plural of "avocado"?

On one side of the avocado stand, you wrote "avocadoes." Just around the corner (inches away!), you wrote "avacadoes." Personally I would spell it "avocados" but I'm not 100% sure what's correct.

Also, do you print each sign individually? I thought, being a major chain, you would mass produce your signs. How do you end up with 2 signs for avocados right next to each other with different spellings? I guess shoppers should be glad they have the same price...

(And no, didn't buy avocados, but was perplexed when I saw the "avacadoes" sign.)

Love,
Crayon

Rides

I had a bizarre dream last night. Now, I only remember parts of it,
parts that don't even seem related.

In one part, people were recreating different dishes. This was no
doubt influenced by watching the Top Chef Le Bernardin episode last
night (finally).

In another, we were trying to get on this ride that was like the
dinosaur ride at Epcot with the long rows of seats, but since we got
in late, they only put out a few chairs for us and we didn't get a
row. And we just sat in the back in our individual chairs.

There was more that I don't remember right now. Strange.

Pirates

Talking about the pirate ship in Tampa, "the pirates... hopefully none from Somalia."  Seriously?

Superbowl Ads I

Almost to the 2 minute mark before halftime and very few memorable commercials, IMO.

(Not counting movie trailers.)

The Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head Bridgestone ad was amusing.  The Doritos ad where the guy gets hit by the bus was just weird (but memorable).  What does it mean?  If you eat Doritos, you can get whatever you dream of (girl with clothes flying off, cop not coming at you, free money from the ATM) but you get hit by a bus?  So basically, eating Doritos means you won't pay attention and you'll get hit by a bus?  The e-trade babies were cute, but the ad was ok.

Then, of course, there were the Clydesdales.  I love the Clydesdales.  The dating one where he runs to his love at the circus was amusing, and the show-off one was funny.  More Clydesdales please.

2 am

I'm watching QVC while working and one of the hosts said or did
something (not sure what). It was followed by the same host saying it
was 2 am and no one was watching anyway. Can they really say that? I
doubt it's even true. Maybe there are a lot of people out there like
me that like it for background noise or amusement.

Snow

There's actually a fair amount of snow (for Manhattan) on the sidewalks (considering my expectations).  Will probably be gone in the "morning" by the time I'm awake...

Reprogramming

It's time for reprogramming.

For the past 8 years (and increasingly over the past 8 years), when I have heard the terms - "President" or "the Administration" or "the White House" - my mind has jumped to a negative place.  It was some sort of disgust, resignation, an "oh now what" type of doom.

But no longer!

It's like those psych experiments where one thing is wired to the left hand and the other to the right and then you have to switch.  It's going to take some time to get used to this and to rewire my brain, but I'm glad we get to do it.  Woohoo!  Finally these things are POSITIVE!

Birds

Last night I had another wedding-related dream.  (Sigh.)  This one was about whether or not you could release a certain type of bird at the wedding ceremony.  Apparently you could only do this in Maui because Maui has Haleakala and that made it OK.  This makes ZERO sense, but I'm guessing was influenced by the story I saw on Consumerist about Hawaii moving to digital because of some bird that lives on the Haleakala slopes and its mating season.  But it doesn't make sense at all, because we have no intention or desire to release birds of any sort at the ceremony!!  I don't understand why I'm dreaming about bird releases.
